Already driven to Memphis and Jackson on one trip. Driving to Atlanta next week and then flying to the middle of the Pacific for a week.

Love going to the middle of the Pacific, but not the 25 hour flights.

Am going back today but this time for a couple of years at least. Always nice when flying between the US and the US you have to fly through Tokyo.

I need to get my passport. One day I want to get out the country and see more.

It's good for 10 years so you might as well get it.  Cabo and Cancun are cheap and only a 2 hour flight.  We did Cabo last September All Inclusive for 5 nights for 2 of us was $1600.  I can't rent a hotel in Beaumont and eat and drink all day for 5 nights for that cheap.

New summer might as well start this topic back up.

Me not planning on going anywhere except to the island 5 miles south for a couple of days. Expensive to fly back to the mainland and don't want to go to the Philippines right now

Where are you?

If you're wanting to leave the country and see some beautiful places, I've heard that Utah is nice, and I've seen some pretty places in Georgia, but avoid Atlanta.  We're staying in country.  Probably going to the hill country, around Fredericksburg. :)

Get some peaches! Reb, trust me. Eat breakfast at the Chess Club in Blanco. Also, if you haven't tried it, Saltlick in Dripping Springs is very good. Take a gander at their pit.

My cousin just moved to San Francisco. I'm going to visit her in August to see what it's all about

Went up there to watch the Texans play the 49ers the last year Candlestick was open, very neat city! Excellent food in Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf has some neat bars and restaurants, and its a must to stuff as much chocolate in your gut at the Ghiradelli factory as well as tour Alcatraz.

Some people knock on me for doing this. I usually travel alone. Being 27 and all your friends are married with kids I have noone to go anywhere with. I went to Miami twice by myself to see the spring game and a regular season game. Went out to Austin and San Antonio to see the Rockets at Spurs alone. When my friend had work in the AM I went out to the boardwalk,Sixth Street and Rainey. I'm planning on goingto San Fran,Memphis,Nashville and Fort Lauderdale this fall.

I got comfortable with it. Actually I like it better when I go alone

My 89 year old mother-in-law is coming to visit in July for about a month, so I'll be going to the nearest looney bin, in a straight jacket, probably inoculated with some kind of high powered sedative.  I hope they let me have my iPad so I can stay in touch with y'all.

    • I'm going to agree with this. Individual drills would be fine, but a varsity baseball player should not be involved in full pad practices during the baseball season. Especially, if he is a contributing player on a playoff bound baseball team. This is irresponsible and selfish of the AD/HFC.
    • If there's a specific situation that started this thread, I don't know the details.  Nor do I care.  But I do have an opinion about what I'm gathering from some of the comments. My opinion: I do believe that an AD should leave the players of a particular sport to their respective head coach during that season.  The varsity players of that sport anyway.  I believe it's a little different concerning the sub varsity players of that sport.  If an AD/HFC decides to grab some JV baseball players for some offseason football stuff during the athletics period, I don't have AS MUCH of a problem with it.  I would still consider it a common courtesy to discuss with the head coach of that particular sport to consider their thoughts on it. I also believe that ALL athletes should be lifting and running all year.  When in a particular season, I believe that the head coach of that sport should control the reigns on that topic to implement some sport specific lifting/running during their season.  But all athletes should be in the weight room year round. As far as playing multiple sports?  I'm an advocate.  I know that the popular idea is for potentially good/great players in a specific sport to "focus" on that sport.  And I agree.. but focusing on one sport doesn't mean stopping the others.  It just means prioritizing time in a way that extra work is put into that specific sport.  After hours, weekends, holidays/summer, etc..  Just because you plan on making a push into college baseball (for example) doesn't mean you can't work on baseball during other sports seasons.  That's exactly what I did.. and countless others.  Plus, it's important to maybe learn how to be a role player in a sport that you're not the best at.  Because that's coming. That's my opinion.  And I come from an era where kids played multiple sports if they knew it would be helping.  Helping their classmates.. or just contributing to school pride.  I hate knowing that there are schools that could be much more competitive if their kids would just come out.  It's hard for me to understand if I'm being honest.
    • I wasn't arguing the point of how an AD keeps his job. The question was "what has happened to Jasper" as in their whole athletic department. They were much much better in those other sports even when football was successful. Not anymore. Something definitely has changed.
    • I just don't think it's as big an issue as what's being discussed. My opinion.
