New Jersey HS player hits opposing player with his own helmet

Key words are no mistake . I still would have committed a case of severe  Unsportsmanlike  conduct on him and let the chips fall where they may . The video proves my self defense against unsportsmanlike conduct delivered to me (aka assault) and I do indeed have every right to respond with deadly force if you are trying to harm me . This is far beyond the game , yes he was frustrated he had already been manhandled but his response requires that he learns actions do have consequences . Now I will say that we have no way of knowing of what preceded , trash talk , gouging stomping and we may have already  witnessed retaliation . There is a lot that goes on in football that fans do not see in the stands , talk about mothers, sisters  etc. that require some measure of justice to be delivered . Which would have been deserved in that case .  We have no way to know that and since I believe you reap what you sow I would not respond either if that were the case  and you retaliated leaving you caught and me the "good" guy!  And yes he would have every right to defend himself . So we cannot really determine  from a short out of context video the true facts  in this case but it looks bad , which is why it was posted !!

^laughable I think not, you must not be too involved or have a child that plays. If I'm off on that cause I've not seen you post then oh well cause none of this is laughable. Again, the kid made a bad choice while in a heated confrontation during the game. Apparently, it did not warrant an ejection at the time and not seen til after the game on the all telling eye now, the video. Now where near the worst thing to ever NOT be caught on camera during a football game.

Laughable that the mom is calling it an accident.  I guess it was accidental that he pulled the helmet off and swung it, hitting the boy in the head.  Bullish. As far as it not being seen, if you notice there was a flag thrown.  The official should have absolutely ejected him as well.

Plusone, you must be one of those parents who believes in giving a kid a time out instead of a good old fashion spanking like the parents of old use to do. I bet you believe everybody gets a trophy too. I will tell you this, if I had done that to a kid when I played my coach would have kicked us off right then and there. Then when I got home my dad would have taken care of it. A lot of kids now days don't know what it's like because of parents thinking their child does no wrong. Heat of the moment or not, a player does not take a helmet off an opponent and hit him in the head with it if he has the right discipline.

Plus one, my son plays three sports one being football. He is a starter at corner and receiver. I expect him to be aggressive but if he ever did anything like that, the coach would not have to worry about because his arse would be mine before he got to the sidelines. I coached for many years and never saw anything like that.

Bravo to you, I don't start trash talkin (saying I'm that type of parent) but I'm game and your not worthy to go back and forth with me on this issue. '85 huh, tube socks, tight short shorts, a white Smedium t-shirt and the whistle ensemble huh?? A bad incident that happened during the process of a play, period, move on. At least you got a plug in on three sports, you're the second one to do that. Maybe we ought to start a mines bigger and better than yours thread and have all the people who support teams that are not undefeated and chime in, cause the ones undeafted just have to say mines better than yours!!

    • It's common knowledge that this sort of thing happens on ranches.  I'd be willing to bet more people than not in this forum have had to do it.  That said, she's an absolute moron for putting it in a book, period.  The act of killing the dog can be justified, but publicizing it is inexcusable for someone in her position.  I honestly have no clue what she was thinking.
    • There are times when certain things are appropriate, and when they are not.  We can agree to disagree on the appropriateness of star baseball players doing contact football drills in the days leading up the baseball playoffs.
    • are you suggesting that if the football coach runs spring drills then the kids won't play fall ball without supervision?  Because if not, this argument has no relevance.  One doesn't take the place of the other.  one the AD has control of, the other he just tries to.
    • I don't think it is overly hyped.. I am seeing less and less multi-sport kids when it can all be prevented.. A coach teaches l loyalty, work ethic, comradery, integrity, perseverance, etc.. to get kids to buy into their program. They talk about brotherhood and doing what is best for their community.... But some mean all of this  just for football... Kids see into this double standard and will quit.. either while on the field or off...  drives me crazy!!  and again... I work with these kids.. they tell me what they think.. so you can agree or disagree.. its their point of view!!
