The US men's national team just had one of the best weeks in their history.  They beat #6 in the world the Netherlands 4-3 on Friday IN the Netherlands, and then today they beat #1 in the world Germany 2-1 IN Germany.  The most impressive thing today is that unlike in the past, where we played all defense, packing it inand waiting for a rare counterattack, we dominated this game the last 60 minutes.  The US outshot Germany 11-4 the last 60 minutes, consistently creating excellent chances offensively.

Tonight at 8:30 U.S. Honduras in Frisco on FS1. 

Hopefully the start of another Gold Cup run to end the best summer ever for US soccer. Mexico is hurt and no other team seems to stand out maybe Panama.

USA 2-1 over Honduras. Dempsey (go figure) had both goals, on headers. The team was not bad, but looked lackluster, maybe a bit of hangover from the recent European success. Next Gold Cup game Friday night, vs. Haiti in Baltimore, I think

USA 1-0 over Haiti. Score should definitly been 2-0, as a first half goal was scored by Hanson after an assist by Altidore, only to have the AR make a horrendous off sides call disallowing it. Hanson was a full yard behind the defender. In the second half, Zardes laid back a beautiful assist to Dempsey (go figure) who launched a rocket into the back of the net from 15 yards out. Guzan the keeper had a great defensive game, making several point blank stops.       

The U.S. has now locked up Group A. Next game is Panama Monday night at 8:30.

The USA has looked uninspired so far.  Not sure if we're playing down to our competition, or if we're more effective with our 4-3-3 with younger players running the top, as we've looked stagnant compared the team that took Europe by storm a few weeks back.  Still, the bracket sets up nicely for us to advance to the final and likely face Mexico.

Nope. The must have run off with the five Cuban players who've defected over the course of the tournament.
