1. Mcwhirter lookin like michael Vick He doesn't understand the intricacies of the option offense yet though Finally gives it to full ack Down to the two Td rangers Lee defense actually looked better than exPected so far 4th dOwn conversion killed them then a facemask on what would have been another 4th down
2. First d 20 yard run Option offense starting to work now Rangers at the 17 K richardson nice tackle for loss 3rd and 12 Lee brings in jaevon whenever sterling brings in gilbert
3. Lee defense actually forces 4th down Sterling going for it 6 yards to go
4. Sterling fumble second play lol Lee fumble on first play lmao Man this is bad
5. Finally cooled off a bit Lee with the ball first Fumble on third play aftposting run Sterling ball
6.
Baytown Sterling  vs Baytown Lee Freshman B RSS 14 Lee 0 Freshman A RSS 41 Lee 0 JV A RSS 33 - Lee 0 Freshman A is loaded for Sterling. Also noticed that Dayton freshman A score, pretty close game. Are all the 8th grade A kids from last year on that team or did some get moved up?
I have a feeling that won't be the last time that Lee 9th A gets pounded like that. The clock is ticking for Lee.  If they don't do something this year or next, the window has closed on them for the foreseeable future. I am fairly certain that last year's freshman team for Lee was 0-10.
7. Boys, boys....settle down. I think we all know deep down that GCM is going to run away and hide in this one.  35-13
8. Sezar seems pretty fast.  GCM has a couple of guys that ran similar times to him at the district meets. Sezar ran an 11.30 to get second at district, while GCM had a couple of guys run 11.20 and 11.19 in their district preliminaries. These are all FAT. Sezar went on to post better wind-aided times at regionals and state. Those guys may have graduated from GCM though, so I can't tell you one way or the other. The sub 11 times that Sezar put up at regionals and state are definitely good for a freshman in 4A.
9. BigD, good to see you around. I can only imagine what Olin would be able to do with the offensive skill position talent that Lee has this year.  It fairs favorably to the 1997 Ell Roberson offense.  The receivers are even better this year than that. In year's past, when Drew Tate and Jeremy Moses were there, they had at least serviceable defenses.  Not great, not even average, but serviceable. This year..... I don't see how they will stop anyone at all for more than 5 or 6 plays. I hope to be proven wrong.  None of these guys would likely start on any of Olin's defenses.
10. Yep 28 guys. That's about how many they had when Olin first got there. I don't know if the untapped potential is still there now though. The demographic has changed a lot in the last 20 years.
11. The two linemen were year before last.  Landry and zellars were out for the most part last year with injuries.  They are all a year older too so of course thatmakes.a difference.  They have a future college qb and three future college receivers so if coach cant get something going from that then  maybe iys time for a new coach
12. If Lee doesn't average 30 pts/game this year, it will have been complete mismanagement of offensive personnel. They can't stop anyone, but they have the horses to score on anyone in this district assuming proper gameplanning and execution, which is a HUGE assumption with Lee.
13. Man, if Lee holds sterling to 35 that would be a minor miracle.
14. I am here to tell you that the open tryouts did not successfully find many promising applicants. #18 who played corner and also some receiver looked good.  He's a guy that I am having trouble placing a name on.  #2 at Safety was fast and had good size, just didn't look too comfortable at that position. #8 at olb was the best linebacker they got.  They have two second string inside backers that were better than the first team.  They looked like the backup running backs.  T.Lee was ok at one outside backer spot, then they can stick #8(Richardson I believe) at another one, and the two back up running backs in the middle.  That is their best shot at slowing anyone down. I want to believe that Angleton's offense is also just really good and difficult to stop. (wishful thinking)
15. ok, makes sense How did GCM do in their scrimmage? I could see Lee going winless this year. I don't see how they are going to stop anyone on defense. This is the type of defense that is going to give up 4 play 80 yard drives all day long against good teams. They HAVE to play guys both ways if they want to get any stops at al.
16. I have no idea how they look. With gibson and franklin, they should be ok. I imagine a couple of those freshmen from CB may make varsity too. I would expect a shootout next week. I haven't seen Kenny Powers post in a while.  I think he may have the lowdown on RSS. Haven't seen GCM post either this year.  Maybe his son has graduated?
17. Maybe Jabu can shed some light on what exactly Lee was doing last night with the substitution patterns. I can't say as I blame the coach necessarily.  When you only have 28 guys on the team, and the whole team really revolves around those 7-8 guys that are actually really good players, you can't be messing around in scrimmage getting someone hurt. Selfishgly speaking, it made for a long night for me. After that second series of 1 v 1's which was after 8:00 pm by this point, I just KNEW they were saving the guys for a game portion or something.  Nope.  Sat around another hour watching to no avail. I really was not able to glean much from the scrimmage.  Lee has a horrible defense when Speedy, Zellars and Landry are not playing both ways.  I can't say as they would have stopped them if they had played both ways.  Probably not.  Which is again why I think we will find out much more about Lee next week. This week seemed more like an NFL pre-season game.  Very little playing time for anyone that will actually be playing on Friday night.
18. Sounds about right. Angleton's second and third team are definitely much better than Lee's.  As UHCoog pointed out so eloquently, Lee has a second team? Not really, it's just freshmen and sophomores that were brought up for this scrimmage to give enough bodies.  Angleton's guys were probably seniors that just aren't good enough to crack Angleton's lineup, but they are a hell of a lot better than these sophomores and freshmen guys that have no business being on varsity.  It was a score every other play once they got in there. Of course I wouldn't expect your buddy to be able to discern the difference between Lee's first and second team offense. Speedy, Landry, Zellars and Johnson simply didn't play more than 12 plays(if that) the whole scrimmage. Hell, they didn't even keep the first team in for the entire first drive of the whole scrimmage.  After 8 plays or so, the second team came in. Like I said, it was unusual. First team on first team it was 3-1 Angleton. But again, Angleton;s first team ran about 25-30 plays total probably on offense.  Lee's maybe 10-12, and Lee's first team was never stopped, never had to start over back at the 30.  They moved the first time to the 20 in 8 plays or so, and the second time they moved maybe 45 yards in 5 or 6 plays and then were pulled in favor of the second team. I felt that Angleton could have stopped Lee's first team a time or two though eventually, which is why I gave the score prediction I did.  No way Lee could stop Angleton.
19. Lee is in for a rough century. They just don't have anyone physical enough to play defense the way it needs to be played.  Zellars would make a good linebacker, and Richardson and Landry and the like would make good d-backs. They don't really have anyone that can do any penetrating and hitting. #8, I wanna say the other Richardson, is the only one that had any success getting into the backfield and making a play. It was just one mis-direction after another, creasing them up the middle, getting the edge with the greatest of ease. It was tough to watch as a Gander fan. I don't think Angleton would have had much luck stopping Lee's offense either though. Lee is going to have to out-score opponents. I'd like to see them next week in a real game when they are trying to put the best people in there to try and win a game. Then I will have a better idea of whether I need to waste my gas money driving from Missouri City to Baytown and beyond every weekend.
20. I think he got the ball about two times, and he had another that he dropped. He played probably two or three plays on defense. Probably only played 7 or 8 plays on offense truth be told. They never had a game portion. It was the most unusual scrimmage I have ever been to.  The first team probably only played about 15% of the time, if that. Lee may have been trying to avoid injuries.  The first drive lasted maybe 10 plays, and the last 4 of those plays had the second team. Lee's first team didn't get the ball again until about 75 minutes later. On that drive, they moved down to about the 35 of Angleton in 6 plays....then put the second team in again. Never saw the first team in again the rest of the night.  So, out of about 80 plays on offense probably, the first string was in on 10-12. Lee's offense looked potent enough. Johnson ran well, very shifty.  Zellars is a good runner.  Landry, Richardson, Randle and the other tall kid are all above average receivers. The offensive line left a lot to be desired, particularly with the pass protection, but I could be remembering the times when the second string was in. Second string for Lee means JV guys that suited up and third string means freshman guys that suited up for varsity. There were probably 28 guys on varsity in all.  I am hoping that a few more will turn up once school starts, but I am not going to hold my breath. The Lee defense was downright awful.  Angleton's 4th team offense could have hung 50 on Lee's first string defense. Angleton has a lot of fast, quick backs.  The 4th string running back could probably start at corner for Lee. I think Angleton is going to have a very good offense this year.  The qb is good enough and he has all sorts of weapons.  Lot more misdirection this year than I recall from last year. The Angleton defense is not as ferocious this year as last year, with Diggs no longer patrolling the middle. The defense can be had, but overall Angleton is a very good team. If it were a real game, my best guess would be Angleton 63 Lee 35
