  1. Yeah and right now the Ohio State Buckeyes can't hold a candle to Boise St. I guess if you want to pick an arbitrary period in time, then ok. PA was smart enough to realize they were getting the fool beat out of them with 3 high schools. The bloodbath had to come to an end by combining the three.  Unfortunately, Baytown is not that worried about athletics for that to be a deciding factor.
  2. Well, playoffs are about matchups. Seen some state ranked teams go out in round 1 against other state ranked teams.  Seen some horrible teams, such as New Braunfels, make it to the state semi-finals. The important part is head to head, and Lee is 7-7 against PA teams in the last 20 years.
  3. Anyone watch the Navy game tonight?  Much less talent than SC, still ran all up and down the field on them. Baytown has always had a good history in football.  One of the winningest teams in the history of Texas high school football. Sterling hasn't been good in a while, but Baytown Lee certainly has had better success than Port Arthur over the last 20 years. ;D
  4. All the talent at Gentry these days I see. BJS or HM got anything?
  5. Trust me...you WANT that level of security when playing at Thorne. :D
  6. Clear Lake still looked pretty stout on offense last year. Much better execution than this Sterling team obviously.  I understand the frustration with the coaching, but you have to give the guy a couple of years to get the system in place.  You don't just start implementing this offense and look like a well-oiled machine the first year. Think back to Olin's 0-10 year.  Lee looked bad. It's obvious Sterling does not have the guys to run the offense right now. The qb is good, though he has no idea how to run the offense.  Outside of that Franklin is more of a slot receiver type, then you have the punter playing fullback.  And not a fullback that happens to be able to punt.  This is a punter that just go stuck back at fullback near as I can tell. If they can find a qb smart enough to run the offense, then just give it to next year at the very least.
  7. Parents letting their kids run wild.  Of course they don't let them run wild right by where they are. They send them up to the top of the stands where I am to run around. Also, people that bring umbrellas to the game.  It's a football game, no umbrellas should be allowed.  Bring a rainsuit.
  8. All the scores come through Gibson, so why the hell don't they throw him the ball more lol. It's really unbelievable. And what does Lee having a high-powered offense have to do with Sterling and Oak Ridge? Sedberry certainly was not successful anywhere that would actually matter. He went 3-6 and 4-6 at his previous job.  His claims of doubling participation at that school are certainly not being seen at Lee. He should talk to Olin and take notes on how to increase participation. Olin went 0-10 his first year and had probably 12 seniors. Went 5-5 his second year and then 9-3 and beat Eisenhower in the playoffs his third year.  By the 4th year, which was Olin's first graduating class, they must have had 30 seniors. Sedberry took what Olin had built, albeit falling off towards the end, and limped to a 3-8 record the first year, 1-9 the second year and more of the same this year.  The team has gotten progressively worse fundamentally. Back to the game thread though.
  9. Man the Baytown teams just are horrible as a whole. GCM has the best chance to be average I guess.
  10. It's hard to describe just how poorly coached they are. The corners have absolutely no idea how to play corner.  Terry would run a simple 8 yard out and every time the Lee corners would turn their back and start running and get turned around and be about 15 yards away by the time Terry receiver caught the ball. I've never understood the Lee bend and break defense they utilize the last few years.  They are so bad that it usually takes only 6 plays to go 80 yards.  Why play the base defense so much.  Play a little man to man, try to blitz, shake something up, do anything, actually coach the team and make some calls.  Just as soon have them go 80 yards in 3 plays.  But maybe you get a sack, maybe with 3 men in his face, the qb makes a mistake, maybe a fumble, who knows....certainly not a Lee fan because they haven't called a defense all year.  It feels like a game of Madden where they found one good defense, and just call it every time.  Except the good adjective does not apply here. Terry's guys would be right up on Lee's receivers, it led to an interception on the first drive.  And Lee's receivers are better than Terry's(outside of maybe Griffin for Terry, and I still believe Richardson is better).  Obviously Terry's corners are better because they have a semblance of an idea of what needs to be done to cover a receiver.  Technique I believe it is called.  Lee doesn't believe in it. I can only imagine they got the resumes and interviews mixed up and thought this coach was interviewing for a junior high job or something.  You can tell he doesn't have enough football knowledge to bestow upon the kids to make them reach their potential.  Maybe he gives a great interview.  Luckily Terry's quarterback was not very fast.  If he was, then he would have had 400 yards rushing.  He had huge lanes to run through, but Lee was much faster than him and caught him after 10 yards usually.  Lee had no idea how to stop the veer.  They did not understand what their assignment was from play to play.  There would be multiple guys tackling the fullback without the ball on one play, then those same three guys would all get the qb on the next play even though he had just handed to the fullback.  Again, assignment football, Lee does not believe in it. It is painful to watch.  Goose Creek obviously made a disastrous hire with this guy.  He is in way, way over his head at the varsity high school level.  Lee could actually still make the playoffs, because they are more athletically gifted than most teams they will play.  They certainly won't win anything based on scheme or execution though. They remind me of a poor man's Port Arthur Memorial when they had that string of poor coaches.  PAM had even better athletes than Lee, but they all just looked like chickens with their heads cut off running around out there.  No idea of what actions to take to create positive plays to eventually win football games.  Lee is in even worse shape though.  They play just as poorly as those teams, yet don't have near the depth of athletes across the board. It is going to get much, much worse as a Lee fan. This year they have better athletes than most teams they play, but from the looks of the freshman teams the past few years, that is about to come to an abrupt end. I think I will follow the games from home the rest of this year.  Too much gas money wasted to watch such a poorly coached team.
  11. [url=[Hidden Content]] Exhibit A over on Youtube of why it won't happen. I root for Memorial, but they just don't have the mental toughness when they run into some turbulence. Watch the first few minutes of that youtube clip, and it looks like PAM should win that game by 50. Then you see two consecutive fumbles and they give up.
  12. Well I'm out This could esily get to 75 for Terry Lee really messed upthis hire He is in deep. Way way over his head. Goes to show having a dad be a coach does not ensure you are goingto be anygood atit
  13. 27-7 You can tell lees no idea who is supposed to get who against this oPtion attack Completely lost
  14. Lees corners honestly look like they have ne'er been taught any kinda technique at all They turn their back and start running when the ball s snapPed even though they are 10 yards off the Los 21-7 two minutes in first
  15. Zellars with an 80 yard td to Landry That's what hurts is knowing these guys are at an athletic advantage but such a schematic disadvantage 14-7 terry
  16. These coaches are just stealing money from the district.  Lee is so poorly coached it hurts to watch.  7-0 Terry after two mnutes Lee comes out with a horrible playcall for an easy int 14-0 now. Lee defenders jet running around jump g around like bozo the clOwn out here lol
  17. Man what an atmosphere out here inbaytwn tonight.  Must be 35 Terry fans and 55 lee fans
  18. I was just giving Sterling a little bit of ribbing there. I probably shouldn't as it looks like hard times are about to be upon Lee very soon. Harder times than the 1-9 from last year. The last two freshman teams have been absolutely horrendous.  Couldn't beat most 8th grade A teams probably. I think they have been outscored 86-0 after last week this year.  Last year they were probably 0-10 and outscored 400-25 near as I could tell.
  19. [url=[Hidden Content]] Strollin Nolan at around the 6:30 mark
  20. Anyon remember ol Strollin Nolan Richardson walking out of the Texas game early back in 1990? Then they tied it up and he came back out for overtime lol If you're going to walk to the locker room before the game is over, you need to follow that through until completion of the game.
  21. I would be more familiar with Baytown. The area of Baytown in which I grew up, known as Pelly, has changed completely.  I almost thought I had shown up to the wrong game when I went to watch Lee play Sterling. It's probably pushing 70% Hispanic now. I think most of the people in that area probably do work in the refineries of Baytown and Deer Park area. There is just no connection to the school for the people that live there now  You do not have many fans going unless they have a kid in the band or on the team.  There are no casual fans other than me and a few others maybe. The Lee band used to be one of the best in the state.  They would have well over 300 members.  They would spell out Ganders from goal line to goal line across the field.  Then they started spelling out Lee instead, now they can probably barely muster up an L.
  22. Couple of things here. One, Baytown has a huge stadium, so it's always going to look a little empty unless there are 10,000+ there. The home side of Stallworth probably is as big as any other stadium's entire capacity in the Golden Triangle. 19-4A is closer to Houston.  As such, there is a lot more to get into on a Friday night. You're not going to have a community type feel at CE King.  How many people that are living in that zone have been there for more than 10 years.  Not many I would bet.  Baytown and Galena Park are the same way.  Just a bunch of new transplants.  People trying to move closer to the refineries or to the job base of Houston. I would venture to guess Lumberton and Nederland and the like have families that all know each other, have grown up there for generations, etc. It's just a different demographic of people.
  23. Can't tell you how many times this sounded like a good idea when playing in PA or BMT. ;)
  24. It's unbelievable how small of an issue can be blown out of proportion like this. If racism were dead then the NAACP and the like would no longer have a place.  That's why they look high and low for any minute thing that can possibly be mis-represented as racism. Of course this wasn't racist.  You would have to be an idiot to think this had a shred of racism in it any where.  No sane person would even hint at it. If an alien came down and witnessed this sort of thing, they would immediately blow up the planet for being a lost cause.  Unfortunately there are people that make their living on fighting racism, so they must invent said racism to fight. It's like those stories you hear about the Japanese soldiers that were still fighting WW2 decades after the war was over. Come on out boys and smell the fresh air.  It smells good out here.
