Hard to unlearn 15 years of no discipline in one year with a coach. I've seen bad seeds in high school turn out to be quite successful adults.  Just going to take time for this kid to learn what to do and not to do. Of course BH is going to have better disciplined kids than Baytown teams.  Different economic classes, different upbringings, different family structures I'm sure.

Forget about BH ever going back to 3A. They will not be in 4A for much  longer. They will eventually be 5A. More likely that they have to open another school out there eventually than them ever going back to 3A.

Looks like they need to be sure and beat LP next week in order to ensure a playoff spot.  Is that correct?

Dayton 41-20

BH has a stingy defense. Can't wait to see how they matchup with teams from different districts. I'll certainly be rooting for them.

Lee looked like a completely different team than any of the other games I have seen them play. The offense is much crisper, though still a little sloppy at times.  Maybe this had a lot to do with GP being so bad, but I don't think so.  GP had 5 or 6 guys that could start for any team in this district.  They are just more sloppy than Lee even.  Can't sustain any drives on offense without fumbling a snap or getting a penalty. Lee is so thin across both lines.  Boyd has to play both ways nearly the entire game it seems.  He's the only real big guy they have on the team.  They have Kion Richardson playing at defensive end now at about 170 pounds probably.  Garza playing outside linebacker is a huge upgrade.  He may be 5'7" 165 pounds, but he is quik and understands how to play football.  He caused a huge fumble and made a couple of nice stops or losses.  I never saw him miss a tackle. Zellars is an enormous upgrade over Scott at safety.  He broke up three or four passes, intercepted one, caused a fumble nearly had another interception.  He is really the only guy on defense that looks like he has bad intentions when he plays. They must have thrown 15 fade patterns to Landry.  This is what they should have been doing all along.  Throw it to Richardson, throw it deep to Landry.  Let Johnson get some carries.  They were also using some new crossing routes that I had never seen them run before.  The whole offensive scheme had a new layer of sophistication to it. They were missing Willie in the defensive backfield.  Cedeno is a full time player now at inside linebacker as he should have been from day one. I can see how they scored 60 on King.  They could have put up 50-60 last night, but they started resting guys and running a lot in the second half. Still not much defense though.

The guys that are going to be pulling the weight for a team next year are either on varsity this year or on the freshman team this year.  I see where GCM is coming from.  Unless you are just substantially deep like Katy or somebody, then most of your good athletes will be on varsity.  No point in letting someone waste away at the JV level if they are really going to bring anything at all to the table at the varsity level.  Unless they just improve a lot over the summer, which can happen from time to time. No offense to anyone on the JV level. 

Dayton had one a few years back.  I think he played receiver for them too.  They would bring out some contraption to put on his foot before the kicks. I never thought that was fair.  If you're going to kick it straight ahead, then do so without help from equipment.

Actually, Lee doesn't need that much help to get to the playoffs.  I they win out, they have probably a 95% chance of making it.  Something weird would have to happen.  IF BH beats GCM this Friday, then Lee gets to a 100% chance of going to the playoffs if they win out.

Only thing that could hurt Crosby is if Dayton beats Crosby, but then loses to King. Then Dayton would be part of the tiebreaker. Crosby could be in trouble, depending on how bad Dayton beats them and what Lee and GCM do.

Yeah, but that would bring a possible three way tie into it. Or if not, that would mean GCM would have lost to BH and Lee. That would give them 4 losses.  Then Lee, Crosby, Dayton and BH go regardless. Crosby has a good chance of making it regardless of what happens. The only barrier would be if Dayton beats Crosby then loses to CE King. You could have a possible Dayton, Crosby, Lee and GCM pileup there, all at 4-3. This would assume Lee wins out and GCM beats BH. Right now between those 4, GCM is +12 I believe. Dayton -10 maybe. Crosby +5 Lee -7 That's going from memory. If Lee beats GCM by 7 let's say, that puts them back to even.  Then Dayton beats Crosby by 10.  That puts them at even. Crosby would be -5 then.  GCM would be +5. Crosby would be in trouble. That's a lot of what ifs. Lee probably gets beat by 30 at GP  :(

The I-10 tangle

There are so many different scenarios involved that could realistically happen. Could be GP, Lee and GCM tied at 3-4. Could be Lee, GCM and Crosby tied at 4-3 Could be Lee GCM and Dayton ties at 4-3. Could be Lee, GCM, Dayton and Crosby all tied at 4-3 Or it could just be GCM, Crosby, Dayton and Barbers Hill making the playoffs after Lee loses these last two games.

If Lee can win over Galena Park next week and BH beats GCM, that will set up a very interesting game at Stallworth in week 10.
