  1. They beat Lee in the playoffs both of those years haha.1994 Lee had a chance but they just couldn't stop Ball/Humphrey. Lee had beaten Eisenhower in the first round which was quite an accomplishment for a Lee team that was 0-10 two years earlier. They put it on Lee by 40 in 1999. That game is actually on YouTube not that I want to see it. Or maybe just the highlights, can't recall.
  2. They were knocking on the doorsteps of a state championship in the mid to late 90s. Lost on penetrations to Westlake in the semifinals then later lost to Katy in the quarterfinals. John Humphrey and Brandon Backe I am pretty sure in 1994 (maybe Casey Hampton?)and then Marvin Jackson and Lawrence Richardson in 1998.
  3. Been a while since Lee has gotten dominated like that. They are usually fairly competitive, but that was a rough one. I wonder if KP just happened to have a good group of kids come through or what happened? Coach been there since 2015. Not a huge jump in enrollment really. Lost by 54 to Crosby last year and beat them by nearly 30 this year. I know Crosby isn't last year's Crosby, but that is a huge tuenaround. in one year. I know the QB was injured last year too. Maybe he is the catalyst for the whole thing?
  4. Two years ago they would have probably gone three rounds deep in the playoffs had they not had to play Katy Paetow in the first round who by the way won the state championship last year and is now in 6a. They should have been playing Galena Park and Houston ISD schools not Katy Paetow. Dayton was 2-8 last year playing more or less what is now the district Lee is in. No one is running down Dayton. They rightfully can't compete against teams like Porter nor should they have to. They are now in different divisions which is the point of having divisions. To put you in with other teams you can compete with. As for if Lee can beat Porter. That's the point. They shouldn't have to. They should be beating Galena Park, which they did the last two years by an average of 50 points each time. And Santa Fe, who they beat 34-3 three years ago when they last played. How many wins Lee would have in their appropriate division? I would certainly like to be able to find out one day.
  5. That's because you haven't been paying attention. They have been very competitive the last three years. Dayton is 5-1 and leading that district but got taken behind the woodshed by Porter who is in next to last place in this D1 district with Lee.
  6. Goose Creek needs to let Lee play in their correct division. We see how much Crosby has struggled moving up a division Just thinking about how much better Lee could do in their correct division down with Dayton and the like. Lee already has low turn out for their enrollment, then making them play up a division to keep them with the other Baytown schools is detrimental and probably cost them two playoff appearances now last year and this. Good game Barbers Hill. Lee with just too many mistakes back to back to back in the second quarter. Three turnovers within 5 minutes.
  7. KP is just better than LP and beats them most days. I am not sure what happened to BH. What KP did to LP through the air is what Lee did to them. I expected BH to be able to pass up and down the field on them. They are very susceptible to the big pass play. I think LP will need a few years to execute this offense a bit better and they may actually be a playoff threat to do something. With an old school offense like that, they really need to execute a bit better than they do to beat the better teams.
  8. NFHS app has Chromecast casting built in. Would be easier to do it that way than through the Roku app actually if you have Chromecast set up on any of your TV's. I would never buy another TV without Chromecast built in or without adding one externally. Best invention since the Internet. Any video you are watching from a laptop on Chrome can also be easily casted to a tv, so the fact NFHS has it built into their app is convenient, but wouldn't be necessary. Good luck to LP tonight.
  9. Just looked at the highlights on Hudl. Once KP got their feet under them, they were just getting huge chunks of yardage. I noticed in the Lee Crosby freshman highlights, Crosby would just zero blitz on defense every play, and it worked at that level against Lee for sure, but I thought in my head that this is not really teaching them anything about a real game and real defensive principles. KP was just gashing them every time they did the same in those highlights. What else do they have to fall back on if that's the call 95% of the time as a freshman? Just because you have a big athletic QB that could QB sneak for ten yards each play doesn't mean you QB sneak 45 times in a row at the freshman level. That's not teaching anything that will be valuable later. Same goes for defense. Just because it works there in 9th grade. There is nothing to be gained from doing it.
  10. Crosby just isn't as good this year and have moved up to a more difficult level. They don't never have had an advantage in coaching. They did it with much better athletes and need that advantage to win. They are not going to out coach teams.
  11. Barbers Hill should have a field day passing the ball. I say they will win by 3 tds minimum. I don't think LP will be able to run the ball on BH.
  12. Ok now... He won state championships 4 out of 5 years with one loss in a one point game i the state championship in the other year. A near 5 year winning streak at SLC. Takes a Westlake team with five losses and a second round drubbing at the hands of A&M Consolidated the year before he shows up and five years later he goes on to win three straight state championships with one one point loss sandwiched between 45 victories over those three years. Westlake and SLC were and are consistently great programs. He turned them into two of the greatest dynasties Texas HS football has ever seen.
  13. Though I am a Lee fan, I would be satisfied with any of the three getting to a level where they could make some waves in the playoffs. Lee just doesn't have the athletes to do it. If you go watch the middle schools, you'd think there is no way that Lee ends up being able to hang with Sterling and GCM once they get to high school. If Lee had the level of athlete that GCM or Sterling has across the boards, they would be undefeated right now. Maybe they can just take one for the team and let the Lee coach head over to GCM or Sterling and give it a go.
  14. LP had two fumbles. Lee had one turnover. Lee and LP are evenly matched teams. LP probably got a bit too excited whipping teams that anyone with a pulse should whip in Elsik and GCM. Lee had 400 yards of offense and dominated the second half from the 10 minute mark of the third quarter to the 2 minutes left in the game mark I don't think LP had one first down. Lee just ran out of steam with most of their guys going both ways. Had the ball deep in LPs territory tie ballgame late and just couldn't punch it in then LP comes back with a 90 yard drive to win it. There is no need to rationalize for LP. They beat a good team in Lee Lee certainly had just as easy a time with Clear Brook as Deer Park did last night and I know DP beat the fool out of LP.
  15. Laporte wins 27-20. Lee had their chances. Two evenly matched teams. Likely needs to beat BH or PAM now to make playoffs.
  16. I always see North Shore whipping up on everyone and I go to their Hudl expecting 10-12 big time recruits and they really don't usually have it like that. Maybe two or three highly recruited guys and a team full of UTSA and Lamar University guys. Last year's state championship defensive MVP for them is at Grand View, an NAIA college in Iowa. I feel like they are more like Katy except with just a few notches better athletes across the board. Well coached, execute the game plan, confident in their abilities.
  17. I am a Baytown Lee fan through and through. I did live for six years about five minutes from Ridge Point, so I have some interest in them as well. i dont know what I have against Crosby. I will need to be really introspective and figure that out perhaps. I don't think I was being too unreasonable yesterday though. I think Lee has better coaching and Crosby has way better size and athletes. That is my assessment still. I think Lee could have won the game with a near perfect effort. Had Crosby played near perfect they could have probably won by 50. I just happen to think that there is a higher likelihood of Lee playing at close to their best than Crosby due to the coaching. I will keep thinking of why I don't like Crosby and see what I come up with.
