Goose Creek Memorial 0 Baytown Lee 35/FINAL
gary-us-bonds replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
7-0 Lee with about 8 to go in first half. -
I didn't make it to that one. King had a player named Michael Stewart (I believe was his name) who went to Lee as a freshman and certainly could have helped Lee that year perhaps get past Humble. He was a linebacker for Lee but ended up as a fullback I believe for King. Very talented player.

Can Atascocita and North Shore hang in there with CE King might be the better question. Best King team since 1995 when they won their first 11 games then lost 7-0 to 16-0 La Marque in the playoffs?

Dayton at Crosby/Crosby wins 52-21
gary-us-bonds replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
Looked at the highlights of Dayton against GCM and most, if not all, of their touchdowns should have been called back due to men down field. It felt like their entire offense was built around getting away with men down field. -
OK but I still don't get it. They should be better than they are. Any other new school anywhere is built because upwardly mobile families are filling out the area and they are almost always good in sports for a period of time. Just seems weird that GCM has had what...two good years in a decade and a half?
-
I'm not sure why GCM has not been better Usually the newer school always gets a new school bump in output because that's where the upwardly mobile families that care about sports are moving. They also have McNair I am assuming? I would have bet good money on it that GCM would have at least been able to have LaPorte type success let's say. Instead they are no better than Lee or Sterling really over the last decade.

Week 3 Baytown Lee 28 Lumberton 27/FINAL

Good job Ganders. Lee doesn't have near the numbers to be a real threat any more, but i think this coach, out of anyone since Olin left, gets the most out of the players. -

The two teams Lee beat were not very good, but they also had 33 people on the team. Tough to say without being there to see who is playing where. -
We'll take it.

Just looked up his Hudl film How in the world was he only a 3 star recruit. What a whiff by a lot of people. The guy looks like Julio Jones running around out there. -

Six or seven years ago, Lee was the Chavez and Galena Park that took the whoopin by other, perhaps, mediocre teams. Just glad to see Lee has at least progressed to be the mediocre team handing out whoopins to some. -

That made me go look up that WOS Filmer game again from 2014 to remember why I felt like WOS got cheated. What a momentum changer to find a block in the back on that last play before the half. That would have been game over. -

Baytown, like a lot of places, would rather have as many valedictorians and top tens and starters and class presidents as they can get and be a has been that is never thought of when it comes to competing in any sport or competition -

Fort Bend is perfect example. They have another high school coming next year which will make 11 nee high schools since 1979. That's one new high school ever four years for four decades. As soon as one starts winning, they open a new one and split their enrollment. Imagine if Hightower and Ridge Point would have remained one large school with 5,000 enrollment like some of the Dallas schools. They'd be ranked #1 in the state every year for the last ten. Looking them up also got me to realize that Bert Emmanuel's son and ND Kalus son are playing for Ridge Point. They also have a sophomore QB that is going to be the next Vince Young. Interesting set of Hudl highlights. Ridge Point is going to be stout this year. -

I had trouble finding any place to catch updates on this one and was a bit nervous to check the score this morning. Looks like GP's main threat did not play from looking at the highlights. Good win for Lee after losing so much of their offense from last year. Lots of fumbles by GP certainly helped, but Lee looked better than I was expecting on Hudl. This is about the same score they beat GP last year more or less. I guess we will see how things shake out over the next few weeks. -

Just went and checked out the Hudl film of the KF running back and this guy is a beast. It's no wonder GCM let a couple big plays slip past them. Not highly recruited from what I can see. This is the type of kid that ends up at Tulane and gets drafted in the third round and we all wonder why he wasn't at a bigger school. -
Crosby is what I call east of the San Jacinto river good. The moment they venture west they usually get their clocks cleaned. Couple of games here and there where they didn't but they have the cleanest clock in the district for a reason.
-
If someone just wandered into the forum they might think we are discussing North Shore or Aledo or Katy here. What's Crosby made it out of the second round of the playoffs three times the last decade?

That was 2007 when they called the game due to the storm that was passing through i believe Brownsville at the time. I was hoping the lightning would stay out of the 500 mile radius they set as being the guidelines but alas...
