PNG pulled away at the end. Didn't exactly punch them in the mouth. Lee was driving for the go ahead score late in the 3rd quarter and made a bad turnover that directly led to a score the other way and that was that.

I think you'd like to have seen the defense do a little more, but the offense is for real. Haven't really had a substantial test yet. We shall see in a few weeks where they stand. -

Baytown sun with a lame headline though. "Patriots still win in defeat" ...ok🙄 -
I don't think Lee should be state ranked or anything like that, but Splendora beat them last year and Lee dispatched them this year with ease. Splendora is likely about the same type of team they were last year which means the Ganders are greatly improved. Lee nearly made the playoffs last year after many poor seasons, a few being winless. They are a much better team this year than last. Any sort of success gets me excited as a Gander fan.

Wooley has gone from a run first guy as a sophomore with a lot of wiggle to a very polished passer as a senior. Two years ago I thought he could make it at the next level as a slot receiver. Now I know he can make it as a QB. Maybe not a big time school due to his size but he can play somewhere.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it. I live in Houston now and had my son with me. Baytown Sun should have something online today. -
Ganders have four receivers, two running backs and a QB that can take it to the house from anywhere. Offense is better than last year. Defense looks about the same I believe all told Lee scored about 6 first team TDS in about 25 plays.they also dropped two other touchdowns. Pasadena had one good sustained drive. Could have had a few more had it not been for mistakes. They scored once. They actually looked pretty crisp on offense when not fumbling. Lee will need to outscore teams again and will likely be able to do it to some degree.
-
You're right. I will go so far as to say they have the best offensive skill position players in the district without question. Defense should be better if guys can hold up to playing both ways which I am assuming they will need to do in many cases.

I feel like Brandon Williams was the highest rated recruit out of Central. -
Mark Crooms would be my choice if I was GCM. I think he would want to stay there and could get some excitement being a Baytown guy. To speak to some other topics in the thread, Baytown Lee had a good run from 1994 to about 2007. It was a pretty good, long run with a shot or two or three in there to make a run at the state semifinals. I think the Ganders could surprise some people this year. They finally have a set of athletes coming together in close enough grade levels to be competitive. I guess we will see.
-
Good season ganders. Next year should be in playoff contention. They will have a lot of guys returning
-
Lee has some good athletes for the first time in a while. Just wish they had more depth. Next year they should be pretty good with both the QB and running back regurning.
-
First time in over a decade I have heard a team playing Lee claim to be out manned. I doubt Lee has over 80 kids in the entire football program
-
Lee looked good. I know it was Pasadena, but Lee and Pasadena have probably been equals the last five years. Kiki Davis, the sophomore running back for Lee is going to be a handful this year. He had two long touchdown runs. The QB for Lee, Wooley, has improved the passing a bit. He wasn't able to run much due to being a scrimmage but that's still his best ability. Receiver, montrell Morton, had two long touchdowns All told, Lee had 6 tds to zero for Pasadena I believe it was. The gander defense looked pretty good for the first little bit then they took out davis, who doubles as an inside linebacker. And it was more of a bend but don't break defense. This will turn into a bend and break quickly against better teams. If they can get any blocking at all, Davis is going to be fun to watch this year and the next two.

Going down a classification means you have lost the proportionate number of kids that were causing you to be in 6a in the first place. It's not like they get to go down to 5a and keep all the same number of athletes.

Ganders with a 51-44 win over Kingwood park.

Oh man. Who do I need to pay off to ensure that Baytown Lee district?
