1. check out kason martins freshman highlights and notice the receivers he has to throw to. Only one of those is jalen Preston but they all look about the same to me. Now think that they are all going to be juniors next year.
2. Go look at the manvel hurl roster. Check out the back UPS and what they look like in their limited time. Manvel will have 12 more fbs recruits next year. Keylon stokes, receiver, was a backup. Would have been a star for a regular team. Look at receiver, Bennett, also a junior. Would have been all district playing for a lot of teams. Go look at soph MLB depriest Taylor. Every college in the country will be after him. Alfred Bryant, Tolds boys. They will look remarkably similar next year to this year.
3. lets not go down this road again. manvel would beat the fool out of Crosby.
4. what percent of Baytown junior kids go to Lee typically. I noticed last year Baytown junior 8a had several good athletes that I assumed I would see when I went to watch the Lee freshman this year but no dice.
5. A 6th junior high has to be in the works soon huh?  Something out north of I-10?  Then we could give BJS and HMJ to Lee, CBJ and Gentry to Sterling and Highlands and the 6th one to GCM.
6. Is Gentry zoned to Sterling or GCM?
7. Hey oldtimer, Sumlin is the one that made the distinction, not me or any other Texas fan. Sumlin implied in the tweet that he is going about it all in a little different manner.   Again, we will see which way ultimately benefits which team the most.
8. We are talking about two different things. Someone tried to compare sumlins and strongs actions earlier in this thread to say they were approaching all of these issue similarly. Sumlin himself says that he does not agree with kicking the guys off the team according to the tweet I posted. The conversation at that point has strayed from the specific incident of sexual assault and has taken on a more general tone of how each coach is dealing with the various disciplinary issues.
9. You are reading it wrong. Texas players dismissed were for drugs more than likely. The sexual assaults have led to suspensions until further investigation.
10. Aggie Sports @Aggie_Sports Sumlin said it's easy to kick a guy off the team. But in the "business of developing men."   Aggie Sports @Aggie_Sports Sumlin - "We're doing everything we can to represent Texas A&M the right way."     Make no mistake about it, Sumlin and Strong are polar opposites on this matter.  You can decide for yourself which is right, but to say somehow that Sumlin has done something similar to what Strong is doing now at any point in time in his tenure in College Station? That's a negative.
11. Id rather they be a good team with integrity than an exceptional team with a bunch of knucklehead criminals. I think they can be an exceptional team and have integrity, just making a point though.
12.
BH should be winning a state title soon  ;D
They said higher incomes, not lower.
13. Texas City and Dawson both in top 13. That's two drubbings we can take to the bank for Lee.
14. I was more upset because I drove all the way to Beaumont after work on Friday, and I had to work Saturday.  I couldn't come back and watch the game.
15. Man, I wish Lee had that kind of talent back in the school again.  I guess, in retrospect, Olin did recruit.  Because they don't have the talent in the whole district now that the 07 Lee team had.
16. I actually think it might be in their best interests to let Leonce play qb.  He filled in some early last year when Zellars was hurt.  He is not the desired height or size for a qb, but he is really quick and he can deliver the ball where it needs to be.  I think just on production and getting the job done, he might be the best bet.
17. Yes.  Between 80 and 90 maybe.  In past years that number has been more like 70.
18. Headed out to Baytown today. The two kids that moved in from Liberty are the best two players on the team. Robinson will probably have to go both ways.  Just too fast to not have him play defense as well.  He had probably five carries on offense for 150 yards. Fountain had about four catches for 125 yards if you count the one that was brought back for a penalty. Not sure if that says more about them or the rest of the guys. Leonce did not play. Lee will have a very speedy set of skill players.  They have about 7 skill position types that have good athleticism and size in some cases. They only had about 80 kids, which isn't bad compared to previous seasons. They do not have much on the lines.  They do not have much at linebacker that I could tell. The qb that is going to be a sophomore next year will have to grow up quick.  He's the best shot they have to get good play there.
19. Guess the pressure got to them.  Dawson even finished ahead of them in the finals, and they smoked them by 10 meters at district. They have most everyone coming back next year.  Nice season Ganders.  Just too bad they are in what is possibly the most difficult region in the nation.
20. Lee got dq'd in the 1600 relay unfortunately. 800 relay will be in finals today with the 4th best prelim time. Robinson turned in top 10 national times in the 100(10.55) and 200(21.35) to get through to the finals. Unfortunately, that top 10 time in the 100 was 3rd best in the prelims behind Burrell and Brown. If he can finish 3rd in the finals, he should be the at large pick to go to state with that sort of time. Just too bad they did not get through in the 1600 relay.  I think they had a real shot to place in both of those relays and have Robinson place at state, and maybe end up with a top 3 overall finish at state.
21. You did it again though.  You put a sort of caveat on it. You are sure that the WOS students will be disciplined.  Period, hit send.  There is no more that needs to be said to qualify it or put any limiters on the statement. This story has nothing to do with anything that Silsbee did.  That is a different story for a different thread and does not need to be noted in relation to this story at all.
22.
WO-S and Silsbee both need to get a handle on this.  This has been brewing since the January basketball game in which there was a major brawl involving students and parents/fans...from both schools.  We sent extra police protection and staff when WO-S played at Silsbee in February because of threats made on social media.  WO-S will handle their kids involved in this, but Silsbee needs to do the same.  No one went to the media when the majority of the Silsbee team showed up at our first playoff game at EC and tried to fight.  No one went to the media or pressed charges when a car full of kids in an orange Mustang followed a SUV full of Mustang fans and threw stuff, hitting their car because they had hoped all the hype on social media would settle down.  Those involved need to be handled firmly and abruptly because that type of behavior is unacceptable.  I have confidence that our students will be held accountable, as they should be.
The last sentence was all that was needed.  The rest sounds like one of those parents that makes excuses for their kids when they do wrong.  WOS did wrong.  No more needs to be said about the story.  Own it, fix it and let's go on about our business here.
