I take nothing away from PNG. You play who you play and they did well.. but to me if you use logic based on comparison of strength of schedule... PNG would have been out of playoffs 1-2 round had they not changed redistricting to separate D1 and D2.. They usually were 2-3 rounds before the change... so back to my question...

is it the "Elite coach" that makes the difference or redistricting??

 

PNG lost 50-15, not 64-3 in 2022. I'm not sure you can compare where a team is in for a Week 1 non-district game to when the dust settles in the playoffs. Some teams improve dramatically, while other take steps back. When it comes down to it, non-district results don't factor much into what a season is turns into. By that logic you could say PNG could stay in a game with 6A-DI champ Duncanville because Duncanville only beat SOC 23-10 in Week 1. I think we all agree Duncanville is on another level.

Personally, I don't know why you didn't remain a voter unless you chose not to be one.

During the fall I was asked by someone with the organization for my number while I was at Academy. I told them I would be interested in helping out and voting, but I was never contacted. Wishing them the very best, but it's getting tougher and tougher for them I know. I helped out with the Bum Phillips Coach of the Year voting after the passing of Bob West. While my focus is definitely on my family now, I'm always here to help when I can. 

This was my first year not to have a vote since the early 2000's. Who was on the committee this time?

District 10 (Waco/Killeen) is Region 3. And District 8 (PNG/NED, etc) go Region 2. How does that make sense?

I was the one who usually did it, but I'm out of that world now. It doesn't have to be anyone in the media though. Just fill out the form. They have ten business days to respond.

Anyone can request this through the district. It's a public record. You might have to pay for it though.

Not in my section, but I couldn’t see everything from my area. I will say PNG doesn’t travel like they did in the late 90’s and before. 

PNG will sellout their home side at the Berry Center like they did at CE King. I estimated the PNG crowd to be in the in the 8-10 k range. While Huntsville was around 3k. Thought it looked like 13k plus total. With a digital ticketing system it should be easy for someone with connections to the schools to find out.
