He was just the guest speaker at the Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold banquet. His speech was about taking advantage of your opportunities and adjusting to college life. Go figure.

It was in the Sunday paper. I can't find it on the Beaumont Enterprise website. They just have separate articles for the Super Gold players and coaches of the year.

No one is crying, if I was gonna cry it would be when #23 for Buna fouled out with only 4 fouls, or the fan from Buna being removed from the game, while there was a lady on Lumberton side that yelled at the refs all night and not one official blinked an eye, but a class team will hold when the defense lets up with a few secs left, no need for the pass, #24 for Lumberton is a very good player, but like I said I got my big boy pants on and no crying just stating my opinion..Semper Fi!!!
Referee kicked the lady out for cussing him. Glad the kid got in the game and scored. It didn't affect the outcome of the game a bit. Merry Christmas. Rock of the Marne!

I'm not sure why Lumberton keeps going to this tournament. There's always drama and an agenda it seems.

If the readers vote, then the team isn't picked the same way as it always has.
The reader's vote has nothing to do with the selection of the award winners bud. It's just an added feature they did to let people know what the reader's poll showed. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with who makes the SUPER GOLD TEAM.

BE didn't pick their Super Gold Team this year...guess they didn't want people griping at them for not choosing who they thought would make it. They posted it online for readers to vote...but I'm sure people will complain anyways
Getting the reader's picks is just an added feature this year. The same banquet, at the same place, with the same sponsors, picked the same way as always is next Monday the 14th. The only change this year is the reader's poll.

They got the tight end correct also. I believe he was a unanimous pick by all of the coaches. Just saying. You can read about him in the paper today.

First team, second team, and honorable mention on both sides of the ball is ridiculous for sure. When they changed to that format they started messing it up by putting seniors over better players for sentimental reasons. They made themselves feel better by knowing that the better kid would still be on the list. THAT'S the problem. The award should be based on individual performance on the field for THAT year and should NOT have anything to do with the team's record. MVPs and Coaches should, but the rest are about how good you are at your individual position. Oldschool has it right. It should be the team you would field as the best team out of the district if you were to make an allstar team.

See Rob, thats where you are mistaken.. Not one kid on the 12 team should have made that team IMO... But once again I did not make the choices.. I know what humble pie tastes like for the last 6 years.... The difference on this entire thread is the opinion of teams winning and teams losing....
Won loss record has nothing to do with all district which is an individual award.

That rag should change it's name to the mid-county news. You shoulda seen their football "Super Team". Basically the starting lineups of Nederland and Port Neches with a few Titans sprinkled in.
