I was responding to the supposition stated by happyhour that the antler restrictions are nothing more than a new reason for game wardens to issue more citations. If he thinks the AR's are stupid then great. To each his own opinion. To think that this was nothing more than a reason to get more citations is ridiculous. .
my season opens this weekend. it's my first time to hunt since i was 10. i'm hoping to get a shot at something, but last year i sat in a stand for a few times with my dad and really just enjoyed being out and watching what walked past.
That right there sounds like a great hunt. Anything else is just a bonus. -
you people need to climb out of your ivory tower and get over yourselves.......these two made an error in judgement, but we should not judge them until they are found guilty of something. I am not from cleveland, and don't know the situation except what was on the news, . again they should not have put themselves in that situation, but let it go, and celebrate your teams and coaches who are getting ready for the playoffs
Let's see.... secretary fired, two coaches suspended and ivory tower. Hmmmm............ On the other hand, to call what they were accused of an error in judgment is an understatement.
One word describes those two....STUPID!
No kidding. I know that they haven't even been charged in a crime, much less convicted but it is a felony in most cases to tamper with evidence. I would hate to spend time in the penitentiary for trying to cover up for something stupid a student did.
So, did the new restrictions cost anybody a deer that they really wanted to shoot this weekend?
I wanted to shoot that fairly good size doe that walked out an did. ;D

How was your opening weekend of gun season?

I wish that I could take out about 100 hogs on our lease. About the only way to keep them out of an area is to fence off the feeders and they will move to another area without fencing. -
Someone help me. I don't understand how play-off game sites are determined. Do the coaches get together and put a list of sites together and then book one based upon availablity? I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I can't find it. I really don't understand how the Dayton-Vidor game is being played in Huntsville. It seems more reasonable for this game to be played in Beaumont or at least Houston, before being played in Huntsville. :P
The coaches call each other and if they can agree on a neutral site, then that it is. If they can't, they usually pick two different stadiums (maybe home and home) and flip a coin. That is even in the state championship game. I think starting next year, the UIL will name the location of the championship games.

I hope they find some of the many stolen ATV's of which, a large percentage are heading to Mexico.

LC-M vs. Ozen updates..LC-M Wins/Comments
tvc184 replied to lcm2007ms's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Good finish for LCM looking toward next year. -
Lumberton had a good year. When you play the last game of the season and still have a shot at the playoffs, it can't be that bad. Three of their five district losses were by a touchdown or less. A single play could have turned any of those games around. The main thing is, they were very competitive. It is not like they were blown out for five games. Except for the PNG game, Lumberton was in every game until the last tick of the clock.

coach of the year goes to who this year
tvc184 replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Being a hard core Nederland fan this one is easy, it has to be Faircloth. There is no debate. Had PNG been 8-2 and made the playoffs or something similar, a debate could be made. The fact that he took his team from just about worst to first and did so with an undefeated team and has them in the top 10 in the state makes it no issue. Neumann did a great job this year with the hand he was dealt. Everyone talks about the quarterback situation but a lot of other players were lost. Everyone loses people but Nederland had a terrible rash of injuries to key people. What a finish to make it to the dance..... but it still doesn't overcome what Faircloth did and in his first year. Faircloth gets all of the 1st place votes for 20-4A this year. Neumann might get all of the second place votes. -
I might be looking at the new Bowtech Destroyer 350.
heck a well placed shot from a .22 will knock down most anything in Texas.
Yeah, if it is well placed in the head.

Maybe Neumann can get Nederland to up the offer again.... especially if Nederland comes from their 1-4 start to make the playoffs. :)

TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTIONS...
I see what you're saying... but it seems that winning typically breeds winning. That type of run to me exceeds just talent and coaching. Anywho.... I think he deserves another year to right the ship.
I think you are correct about the winning breeds winning. A lot more kids come out for the team and generally play with more enthusiasm in my opinion. When you think you are supposed to win, everyone wants to be a part of it and they play like it. Get a few years of losing under your belt and some of that goes away.

I know that he should not even be considered as a top quarterback and probably won't even be a quarterback for his senior year but Dionte Forney from Nederland has sure been impressive in two starts. He has 538 yards, 6 touchdowns and only 1 interception. That is after coming, not off the bench, but off for a few weeks with an injury and playing two years (including this year) at defensive end.

How many head coaches will that make for them in the past 8 years? They have lots more problems going on in LaMarque than wins/losses. I don't know who would want to take that job.
Two years ago it was one of the premier jobs in the state. Gone are the days of LaMarque being considered a title contender each year. It seems like just yesterday that we had the Coog fans on this site crowing that LM would always be there in the thick of things. No playoffs? Losing seasons? Such is life in football. Get you a good coach and make the playoffs a few years and think you are invincible. The coach moves on and it is a toss of the dice if you get a good one to replace him.
In LM's defense... they did a little more than that. 9 SC appearances - 5 titles - in like 12 years - under 3 different coaches.
So they had three good coaches and some talent during those same years. What was Nederland before Larry Neumann or Dayton before Jerry Stewart?
My son has killed lots of animals with his .223, with just factory loads. I haven't seen much difference in stopping power from the .243. He has knocked down whitetail, big pigs, axis and even an Auodad. i know they are not recommended for the larger game, but a well placed shot will stop about anything in the hill country.
HA... shows how little you know. You need at least a 300 Win Mag to knock down whitetails in Texas. ;D
