  1. Actually I think Stewart and Neumann have had very similar careers at their respective schools. Both schools had fairly week records before their current coaches came along and both have made the playoffs pretty much ever since they arrived.
  2. I "think" that a player that steps out of bounds cannot recieve a direct pass. That does not take the player out of the play.
  3. Well, if maxpreps says that Kelly will win, then it is settled. Everyone else in 22-4A would be playing for second. :
  4. He had to post bail to get out of jail immediately. The decision to drop charges aren't made until a prosecutor looks at the case. Assuming that the kid was arrested for Minor In Possession of Alcohol, it is the equivalent of a traffic citation. In most cities, that carries about a $25-$50 bond or even your word that you will show back up if you are a resident of that city. You can bond yourself out on a charge like that, literally in minutes. It maybe be several days later before the prosecutor sees the case and decides if he wants to file the charges in the city or Justice of the Peace court in that jurisdiction or to drop the charges altogether. The prosecutor can drop charges for whatever reason he wishes. It can be because the officer made a mistake, it can be because the kid's parents came in and begged for leniency or it can be because he went to school with the police chief's son. In other words, it is at the discretion of the prosecutor. In any case, it likely will not be determined until after the kid bonds out. Bonding out on that kind of charge is almost like signing a citation. You could be arrested for a MIP at 2:00pm and bond out by 2:30pm.
  5. Now let's see 'em do it again! ;D
  6. The thought of transfers is interesting. If the transfers were allowed, Kelly might be able to drag in some good players from other teams who would want to be on a good team with a shot at a long playoff run. On the other hand, if Kelly started off with a bad year or two, would some of the better players from the area teams then transfer? Would a couple of a team's better players transfer to a team with a losing record that has almost no chance to make the playoffs? While it would be great to transfer to a team that might get you better exposure and playoff experience, it could quite possibly be just the opposite.
  7. Posting bail has nothing to do with charges being dropped so don't confuse the two. To post bail is to put up security money in exchange for your freedom. If effect, you are posting a monetary pledge to return to court to plea guilty or not guilty. If you don't return to court, you forfeit the money and they issue a warrant for your arrest. At a later time, the prosecutor will look at the case and determine whether to take the offense to court. The prosecutor can go ahead with the charges or drop them. That is when charges are dropped, not at the time of bail.
  8. The District Championship is about pride only since it does not have an effect on the playoffs. If three teams tie at 6-1, then they are co-champions unless one of the teams beat both other teams. That scenario can't happen this year. In the days that the district champion was the lone playoff representative it meant something other than pride. I don't think 22-4A awards a district championship based on point spread. They are all just Co-Champions. In the last 8 years, Nederland has made it to the quarterfinals 3 times and the semifinals once without having won an outright district championship although they were co-champions. Some of those times they were playing when the "District Champion" was sitting at home.
  9. Yes, the school with the largest enrollment will be Division I and the two smaller ones will be Division II. With those two teams being tied, it will be head-to-head on which one goes as the Div II champion and which is the runner up.
  10. Who else would complain, the team that did it?
  11. I didn't think he was ejected either. He got flagged for shoving the other guy but when he walked away, the LC-M player hit him in the helmet and he was tossed. The ref made the signal for Personal Foul against Nederland. Then he made the same signal and pointed toward LC-M and then gave the ejected signal. I figured it was offsetting Personal Fouls with the LC-M player being ejected for the blow to the head.
  12. Tough call on that one. All of them have playoff consequences. WH and HD are both 2-0 in district however. Silsbee has two losses already. That is more like a survival game than a game for the playoffs. Silsbee and Kirbyville seems like a more interesting game to me but I think WH and HD need their day in the sun. Have they been GOTW yet?
  13. It pretty much needs to be that one. Both teams are in the playoff hunt. The PN-G / Central game outcome will be interesting but has way less playoff implications.
  14. Check this out for points on a tie-breaker: Lumberton beats LC-M but loses to Nederland. 5-2 with losses to PN-G and Nederland. Nederland loses to Dayton but beats Lumberton 5-2 with loses to PN-G and Dayton. Dayton beats Nederland but loses to PN-G. 5-2 with loses to Lumberton and PN-G. PN-G beats Dayton. The game with Central is meaningless because PN-G would end at 7-0 or 6-1 and either would win district outright. That leaves three teams tied at 5-2 for second and third place. Nederland beat Lumberton who beat Dayton who beat Nederland. No team beat both other teams that they tied with so no head-to-head. Then it goes to common points. Did I miss anything?
  15. Comparing scores means nothing. If you want to do that, then PN-G beats Dayton since Lumberton beat Dayton and then PN-G beat Lumberton. It means nothing. Nederland put 28 on LC-M in the first half while giving up two turnovers and getting none in return. There were no cheap scores by Nederland. Turnovers are part of the game but LC-M's defense stopped nothing and Nederland killed the clock with almost 7 minutes left in the game. Don't let the 49 points vs 35 points fool you into anything. Nederland beat Vidor 28-7 but PN-G only beat Vidor 14-7. Hmmm... I guess Nederland beats PN-G then, right? Like I said, comparing scores is meaningless. Dayton might win the game but you can't tell that because they were able to put 49 on LC-M and Nederland only put 35 on them.
  16. Frustration after a long season that didn't meet expectations.
  17. On the last day of district all four teams will be facing one of the others. Nederland plays at Lumberton and PN-G plays at Dayton. It will likely come down to that day according to which teams win and maybe by how many points.
  18. High school sports are not put on just for entertainment purposes but they can be very entertaining. By fans numbers, football is at the top of the heap. There are some high school sports that get very little coverage or fans. How big of a crowd does the swim team, golf team or power lifting team bring in? They still go ahead with the contests because that is the purpose.
  19. No hatred. It is just that the over the top bravado is a lot of humor sometimes. It is funny that he is dogging Nederland out for making the playoffs sometimes in third place when his team hasn't made it to third place. If Lumberton gets to the playoffs and makes it as the third place team, I am wondering what Maverick's opinion of the third place playoff team will be.
  20. Yelling in pain is not vocal entertainment.
  21. If testing athletes for drugs was violating someone's rights, it would been challenged and won long before now.
