I knew it was coming. Coach Sigler is a class act. I hate to see him leave. But he deserves to retire and do other things, like rest.

Big ups to Kountze & Beaumont Westbrook for handling theirs.

Kimball is LOADED with talent a little too undisciplined for my taste, but they are damn good! Would probably win it all in 5A as well.
Secondly I’m having a hard time understanding Booker T’s game plan…why would you force an uptempo game against a team that has the better players/athletes. I don’t get it smh
Kimball was FFA before FFA.

Did # 1 Q Sanders grow up on Lyons ave, or market st and shoot hoops at finnegan park? It could be that but i doubt it. Players like that come from the 4 points of greater Harris county summer league AAU teams.

I am not a Wheatley homer because I live in or near Houston. I am much more familiar with Wheatley than i am 3rd ward so the same thing goes for Yates. I am as surprised as anyone that they have teams in the playoffs. Given today’s political climate especially towards public schools, that is a miracle. Yates coach Wise is a respected coach. But the Wheatley coach, and I don’t know his name, he pulled a rabbit out of his hat. Kudos to him for getting his team to where they are now.
Don’t get it twisted. Go Silsbee Tigers

I usually watch 3 or 4 Silsbee basketball games a year, either live at one of those thanksgiving showcase games or on stream. Rice has come a long way. Same for Boulwen (i hope I spelled his last name right). It is a waste of time to me to discuss where they need to improve. They’re both Srs & their time in a Silsbee uniform are numbered.
Bridge City won state in football? That was 55 or 56 years ago back in the days of Steve Wooster. But it is true, Silsbee has not accomplished that in football. Correction that was in 1966. So it was more like 59 years ago. (Some of us gotta come correct around here.

First of all, Silsbee has never played Tarkington.
Also, when Dallas Lincoln beat Silsbee in 2016, that was just their 2nd state championship. Their first was 2002. 14 years prior.
So it wasn't 3-4 state championships prior to that Silsbee game.
If you are going to make a point, get your facts straight.
I just looked it up. D Lincoln had 3 championships before they played Silsbee in the state finals. Their W over Silsbee was # 4. My facts were good boss man.

I came up with the word psyched. I couldn’t think of anything else. So it was not a well planned theory. I think i saw Tarkington Vs Silsbee when the tigers had McCain, Adams and the 3rd guard (cańt think of his name) the one that went to McNeese for awhile. I think the opponent was Tarkington. The location wqs Livingston high school. Good game, but Silsbee was in loaded, and won.
One of the great psych games, if you want to call it that was when Silsbee made it to the finals and lost to Dallas Lincoln. MCCain got seriously injured. Silsbee had the best team but just came apart, trying to end the frustration. Lincoln had good players, they also had this thing, this quiet confidence of winning state cause their school basketball program had done it 3 or 4 times before. There is something about crossing that threshold. Until you do it, that doubt will linger. Now was that the case with Tarkington? I don’t know. TBH i don’t have anything against them. I really don’t care too much one way or another.

That is your opinion.

I personally spoke with the head coach at Tarkington. He said not a single player on his team knows anything about Wheatley history.
Wheatley is the better team and that's why they won the game. Had nothing to do with psyching out the opponent.
Psychology factors into every sporting event. It is in long term history and short term history. Perhaps it wasn’t so much that the Tarkington team was psyched out, but that the Wheatley team was psyched in. No doubt the Wheatley coach has reminded his team of their basketball tradition. He probably has reminded them of their success this season, and of the success and schedule of their opponent. He probably told them of the talent this team has and who they have played this season and the victories they have had. IOWs being psyched and psychology in general is definitely a two way street,to say the least.
More can be said but to me this is not a hill worth dying on, figuratively speaking.

Sports psychology is a vast subject. They got people with phDs studying this subject. It is not always predictable but it is a factor. If you take a program like Tarkington, and they play Silsbee, most of the time Silsbee will.win. Maybe because the winning team has better players. But they have better players because that community mindset towards basketball has a positive effect. It is like when Silsbee plays Cuervo in football. C has the psychological advantage. I could say more but I do not want to type that much lol.
-
Tarkington & HF probably psyched themselves out of a W because they played some teams with known basketball traditions.
-
I finally got to see Silsbee play this season. I take that back, I saw some of that first Center game. Good win Tigers.

Johnson for Center has some skills.

Shoulders is nice from 3 pt line this game.

Late called foul on j Johnson.

5. Jordyn Adams/Braylon Bush.

I saw highlights of the class of 2024 when they won the middle school championship in Houston . They had a special chemistry. It has been said over and over by me and others that they would have added at least two more pieces to the championship trophy case were it not for FFA.
Kountze is back to winning. Sooner of later Silsbee will get back to winning big also.

I thought about that possibility. Shepherd is good these days. I haven’t been paying attention.

Things have gone down in kashmere gardens, especially in basketball. I grew up in Silsbee and I love my hometown. Whenever I wasn’t in Silsbee I was probably in the kashmere gardens section of houston.
I heard about 5th ward, South Park, 3rd ward, etc. i never went to school in beaumont, so i don’t really know beaumont. I just really know Silsbee and kashmere gardens.
So when I hear kashmere lost to Shepherd that tells me things are really down in kashmere gardens houston texas.

I don’t think Silsbee wants anything to do with them right now.

Westbury Christian puts out good teams. Losing to Westbury is cause for concern.
