Don't know if recruit is the right word, but we got a pretty good one that'll be on the team next year.

I'm pulling for BTW when/if they play FF. Only team I can really see beating them in 4A is some sort of school that plays Argyle ball really, really well. Matter of fact, Argyle is the last team to knock them out of the playoffs, I believe.

Bourne reminds me of Argyle. Nobody can play that Argyle style as good as Argyle.

Very true. Another side to that is such an injury could happen on the footballl field this fall as well…

This is true. It could happen in spring drills, during 7 on 7, anytime.  That's the nature of the beast.  A person could lightly jog across campus and tear and ACL.

I don't want to give legs to this, but there's a 2nd elephant in the room.  If Dre leaves Jared may do the same.

  3. I’d been hearing about Devon. When I first saw him he was a 5’8” water bug, dashing all over the court.  “Is that the guy everyone is talking about?”  Then he came down and hit some swirling lay up against a really big post from Bellaire. The ball rolled around the rim 3 or 4 times before it went in Devon was headed to the other end. He knew it was going in without looking.

Then Devon grew to 6’3” 210lbs, with guard skills.  If he had a stop & pop outside shot he’d be on national TV like Kendric Davis, making a $ million in NIL.

A play that I’ll never forget. Devon is down low on the block, battling for rebounds against Carter in the state championship game. He makes an outlet pass to Chris Martin who is dribbling down full court with his right hand with a  Carter defender on his left flank. Chis scored with a fundamentally perfect right hand lay up. Could he have done that from the left? I hope so. Plays like that help win championships.

  4. Jones could provide a consistent outside shot. That would free up Miller and Harris.

Everything is tentative. A lot could happen between now and next season. Next season could be a good time, or it could be back to not so good times.

BTW coach Vince Grayson is seen as a basketball whisperer in North Houston.  He has some height coming back.  This season for them ain't over with for them.

If a team plays some consistent basketball against FF they can be beat, at least this season. Maybe next season as well.

  5. BTW is a better match upo for FF because they are both designer teams.  They basically can build what kind of team they want.  It is like going to a signature Krogers supermarket, or HEB, or Wholefoods out in the toney suburbs like Cypress, or Katy, and going in with a $million dollar debit card.  Just pick and choose do some kinda sleight of hand trick and presto you team shows up in San Antonio for the state class final four.

Then after you win everyone talks about what great players you have, and what a great coach you are blah blah blah.  It is all a sham, a farce.

  6. I’ve been in church service most of the afternoon.  Bad Santa kept me clued in.  Nice season Silsbee Tigers.  I thought it would be hard to beat Furr and BT Washington back to back.  I plan to watch the game this evening.

Silsbee has a really good team coming back next year.  They should have Payton jones and others coming in as freshment. They got 4 or 5 moving up from the JV who are very good.  Miller, Harris and Bottley should be back.  Rice is back.  Some of those JV guys look like they may grow.  Things are looking up.   They may be able to win it all, another ring in ‘24.  That is a long way off.   Time will tell.
