  1. For some reason I can't quote on here:

To VNUPE, on the balanced attack, I agree about running the ball on HJ. I think we have perhaps a difference on how we define balanced. I agree that with HJ so worried about our passing game we had to run. I definately agree our run game is much better than last year for whatever reason. The game I look at however is the Foster game, a quality oppenent that we really could not run the ball when we needed to. Have we got better since then, I believe so, but do we KNOW so? When I say balanced attack in my mind I mean can you both run and pass the ball even when the other team is trying to take it away. To run the same as you pass in each game, to make it harder to gameplan against you. I suspect that people will try to take our pass away and force us to run, based on our rep if nothing else. We will have to run the ball from here on out to get where we want to be.

To Falcon69, please stop with the Mustang envy. Just face it, I know you say your not a huff and puff fan, sorry I just don't believe you. Face it, WOS is way better than Huff and Puff every year. Just ease up and become a Stang fan.

That's a very good point, my friend. As far as Richmond Foster is concerned, I seriously doubt that we will see another defense like theirs for the rest of the playoffs. I Think we've learned more about how to attack a defense that blitzes like they did. Jack has definitely gotten more comfortable with his receivers. So overall, I think we've gotten better.
  2. I don't know if would call it exactly a balanced offense. Yes, there has been a few games where we ran the ball well. However, in my mind for their to balanced we have to run the ball well every game. IMO I just don't believe we are quite there. Are we better than in years past, yes I believe we are.

My question is, why would you run the ball when they can't stop the pass? IMO, balance is when you effectively work your game plan (passing or running), against the defense. The best example I can give to that is the HJ game.
  3. This years WOS team no doubt is a quality ball club but if you want to compare them to last years team then that could be misleading. Just ask yourself a question, would this years team handle the same opponents like last years team in district and playoffs. I feel like last year was WOS chance to make it to state but a few mistakes on players and coaches and we lost to a team WOS should have beat. JMO

I Agree and disagree. I Agree we had a very good chance to make it to state. However, I believe this year we have a better chance than last year. Because of the realignment, we're matched up against teams with equal enrollment. That means a lot. I Believe this years team is more balanced than last year. We have more guys who are able to run the ball effectively. That's what you need in the playoffs. Had that balance been there last year, we would have beaten Carthage.
  4. It's not a knock on our players. It's just human nature for teenage kids to slip into a lackadaisical state after having a week off, then playing a gimme game like last night. We did slip up against Newton, so it can happen. I don't expect it will, but cause for concern is not a crazy thought.

I know what you mean. But if we had Mandel and Deionte for all 4 quarters, the Newton game, arguably, would have been different IMO.
  5. Really hoping the stangs can come out focused and up to the task from the get go in this game! And hoping the bye week and Scarborough game don't lag on our boys! I believe the stangs are Atleast 21 points better than the buffaloes, but you never know. Let's go stangs!

I know Scarborough was not a challenge for us, but I wonder what makes people think that this team is not focused.
  6. Turner Stadium...home of the Mad Hatter Memorial, established by WO-S' own Russell Turkel of the '87 "3-0" Jasper game.

Did he ever get his hat back?

Sorry...it's a little inside joke among WO-S fans who attended the WO-S/Giddings game in '06.

That loss still stings to this day. Thankfully, we have a different play caller in this game.

Gasilla is right. Coach T will have to be extra intense with our boys this week in practice. To much down time with the bye and "walk through" last night. From this point forward, our players have to look at every game as if they're playing Richmond Foster.

I doubt if they need that much motivation. Some of the current seniors on this team have been to the regional finals the last three years. Their goal is to get to state. They've been here before. They know what it takes. We have tremendous leadership from these guys, IMO.
  7. There is absolutely nothing wrong with smack talking. It happens all the time. My son is an easy target because of who he is. They call him "Mr. Alabama". Your kids talked trash the ENTIRE game. Not one time has anyone said anything about that. It's a part of the game. There is nothing wrong with a coach using a player as bulletin board material, no need to investigate that. I think you should get out more if you don't think this happens on every level. My problem is you insinuating that he has some type of character issue because he's talking noise. I'm done with this. We have a bye this week.
  8. I believe his point is that King is more VALUABLE to HF than DT is to WOS.
If you put King on WOS and DT on HF; WOS still wins their games, HF probably doesn't have as many Ws.

I respectfully disagree with you. Out of all 5 of their victories, which teams were really hard to beat? Case and point. WOS does not beat PNG without DT. He is one of the best DBs in the nation. You can't put King on defense and think he's going to be as productive as DT.
  9. i know it doesnt happen often but we have seen district mvps be on losing teams . We can say all we want about just district , so your gonna tell me what he did or any other canidate done in 6 games prior numbers dont count ? Like i said earlier 32 total tds in 9 games . So that means he scored a lot in district and lets say he scored 32 in 6 games and 4 in 4 games we just gonna say .... but that was non district !! So when the papers come out after the season over and the writers wrtite their articles they use ALL THE STATS FROM ALL THE GAMES !!! So you think his performance vs lumberton was a fluke and no coaches playing hamshire later didnt watch that ? Hell in that case dont watch film from non district games cause they are irrelevant. Dt is a great choice and WOS produces great teams every year , they just reload . Hamshire is trying to climb back into being relevant since really the mid 90's . The young man has put the team on his back and he is carrying them . Teams know he is all they have and he still makes things hapen with not much around him . Put DT at hamshire and King WOS what would you have ? I'll wait !!

So you're saying King is a better athlete than DT?
  10. Whose coaches called whom? Unless I missed something here, I highly doubt Dubois would call anyone and tell them that any player was bulletin board material - unless you're being sarcastic. And, it doesn't make him a bad kid for talking trash to another coach, it makes him disrespectful. That BS won't fly in Tuscaloosa. Hope he realizes that and gets his act together.

You can doubt ALL the heck you want dude. That's my son. I speak facts when I post something. I don't get on here bashing anyone else's kid. So don't go there with me. That's what's wrong with idots. They think they know everything. Trust me, if Saban thought Deionte Thompson was a kid with character issues, he would have never gone after him as a sophmore. Get your facts straight. Better yet, get a life, clown.
  11. Hj did have momentum. Hj did have an undefeated season.... What's your point??? That's why we play the game.. We saw that WOS is very beatable..... Personally I would have played a 4-3 and let my ends rush.... We did not.... 2 big kids over the guards and pressure on Dallas would have been big.... HF exposed our middle and like a good team does, WOS capitalized on it because we didn't fix it.... You guys were more prepared than we were... We have the talent to beat WOS... You guys did not impress me one bit.... Especially your "high dollar" corner.... What kind of kid talks trash to an opposing coach? To the opposing stands? What kind of coach allows it to happen? This is high school football... You guys have great athletes. More "top" athletes than we do.... But your very beatable.... I will say this also, your line on both sides of the ball was impressive.... Better than I gave them credit for... You were better that night...... Congratulations...

He's not a "high dollar" corner. He's a high school safety who happens to be one of the best in the nation. Your coaches called our coaches that week to tell them they used DT as bulletin board material. As a matter of fact, when he came home, he wrote down what your coaches said and put it on our kitchen table. That's why he was talking noise to your coaches. If that makes him a bad kid, Oh well. You'll get over it.
  12. Obviously district play is important but lets not act like when it comes to stats we dont count non district games ,because when we do . You count non district games when its your seasons record , so lets not be ticky tacky . In that case play no non district games , just play district games be it four or seven whoever wins the most goes to the playoffs .it is not the players fault they play more non district games then district games .

I don't think anyone is being "ticky tacky". It is what it is. So you're saying you wouldn't vote for a kid whose contributed more to his team's success on both sides of the ball just because he didn't score all of the touchdowns?
  13. King has 32 total tds in 9 games they have 1 game left . King has rushed for 1530 in 9 games with 1 game left . So to imply that he hasnt done anything in district play is ridiculous just check the numbers . When his number is called he has performed just as good as anyone in setx .

Offensive MVP, I totally agree. But MVP, IMO, has more to do with the player who has contributed more to his team's success.
  14. I think HJ just has to make more tackles and get into the backfield more often. Don't try and bring someone else into the box. And COVER THAT DANG TE or whatever he was that Jack threw over the middle to all night.

The style of defense you guys played left the middle wide open. By the time our running backs got to the second level of your defense, they were almost at full speed. You can't stop that unless you bring another player in the box. The safeties looked like they were in prevent coverage all night. You can slow down the pass attack with that defense, but the running game is going to yield the same result as it did Friday.
