  1. My guess is that we will see a lot of pooch kicks on kickoffs tonight on both sides with all the dangerous kick returners. Piotr Wlostowski, an exchange student from I think Poland, Angleton's kicker, is capable of kicking it out of the endzone, but he doesn't do it on every kick. Pooch kicks was one strategy I noticed PNG using when they played La Porte.
  2. JV report Angleton JV 35, La Porte 7 Angleton didn't throw their 1st pass until there was just a few minutes left in the game. La Porte passer was pretty good but threw 2 ints.
  3. LOL. Let's just play the game and then we'll know.
  4. I don't think Angleton will stop throwing to him, even with Duron out. They may not pass as much. Angleton uses a lot of end arounds and Jammer has carried 11 times for 94 yds. I suspect they may use more this game. Jammer is 1 for 1 passing for 12 yds. Jammer is also a threat on kickoff return, both he and Ace Simple. Angleton's OC is excellent at coming up with concepts. He has been with the team since 2011 except for three years. He left in 2015 irc to take a head coaching job at Boling where his team went deep into the playoff both years with playing in the state championship game the second year. He must have decided after that. that head coaching wasn't for him and for one year took an OC position at George Ranch. The next year when Brittain became head coach and Berneathy left for Dobie that there's "No place like Angleton" and reclaimed his old OC job.
  5. Duron was hurt in Angleton's 1st drive of the second half when it was 35-0. Jackson was hurt early in the 2nd quarter when it was 21-0. Duron was also the team's punter. Late in the second half Angleton sent in WR Cade Estrada to punt and although pressured got off a good punt.
  6. This game could be for the district championship although Crosby could still be involved in a 3-way tie. Both teams are in the top 10 in the DCTF poll. Angleton is reeling from a couple of key injuries last week playing Kempner. Their QB Bryce Duron went down, he who has passed for 1367 yds. on 66 of 89 throws (74%) and also has carried 25 times for264 yds. So he can't really be replaced. In his place will be the 3rd string QB Damien Simpson since the 2nd guy went down several weeks ago and is out for the season. Simpson has completed 5 of 7 passes in relief and has run 5 times for 58 yds. So it's unsure how this changes the offense. Simpson is only about 5'8". Making matters worse, WR Wesley Jackson was also lost who has 429 yds in receptions. Taking his place will be the HC's older son, Jake Brittain who is 6"3" but only has 5 receptions for 58 yds. I thought this game would be streamed on LPsportsnet, but I don't see it mentioned there.
  7. Why did PAM slip from #6 to #17 in latest DCTF poll? PAM seems impressive to me. And I thought they only did a top25 for 6A.
  8. !!:0/49/F Angleton loses WR Jackson early 2nd Q, then QB Duron their 1st drive of the second half.
  9. Angleton Freshmen 34, Dayton 20
  10. Massey ratings have PAM 38, Lufkin 20
  11. The game will be on Texan Live.
  12. Friendswood at this point seems to be the favorite for 4 seed in District 11. The order of the top 3 teams in District 12 seems to be very much in doubt. They all seem to be close to equal. If Weiss beats Anderson the last game of the season, (and Weiss is at home) and other games go as expected it could end in a 3-way tie with the top 3 each having a record of 1-1 against the other 2. I assume points differential would be used for seeding.
  13. I'm sure the schools in Regioin 3 would like that, but the UIL last time set a precedent by granting their petition. Why would they allow it in '24 but not in '26?
  14. Iowa Colony had 1781 last fall TEA numbers. D1 may not happen this time but it won't be long.
  15. That may well be. The TEA numbers for last fall for KP were 1884 and the cutoff last realignment was 1925 if irc . However the UIL adms are sometimes higher than TEA numbers. I don't think most people would mind having an 8 member district, rather than 9,
  16. I'll let someone more familiar with D2 do that. It would be interesting to see.
  17. There will be a major overhaul of districts in this region due to enrollment changes and I have focussed on the 2 districts which we now call 9-5A an 11-5A. District 10 will probably stay pretty much the same as well as disrict 12 which is out of our area. I have come up with a mock realignment for these two districts although at this point we don't know what the cutoffs will be and I just projected what the adm's would be. I made a few assumptions, one that Angleton and Barbers Hill will not survive in 5A and will become 6A. Another that The UIL will not do another major rescrambling like they did in 2024 bringing some Houston area teams back from Region 2. I tried to arrange the teams into a district 11 that has a west/south of Houston orientation and district 9 that has an east/north of Housto orientation. Some of these might surprise some people, especially Lamar Consolidated ISD totals which have changed fairly drastically because of the opening this fall of Tomas HS with 3 grades. Tomas will also be a 5A but even after you apply the 1.33 multiplier should still be a D2 school. [Hidden Content] District 9 La Porte Baytown Sterling Beaumont West Brook Beaumont United Port Arthur Memorial Lufkin Crosby Kingwood Park NC Porter District 11 FB Kempner FB Dulles LC Randle LC Foster LC George Ranch Friendswood Pasadena South Houston Galveston Ball You may have different ideas of how it should be done or may not agree with how I have classified a certain school. Let's hear your ideas.
  18. Here's my opinion. I think he didn't take the starters out as soon as some might think, because they were finally on what you might call the big stage (Texan LIve) and some Angleton players aren't getting the attention for reccruiting purposes that they should. This was the 1st time this season Angleton has been on Texan Live. By comparason, Pasadena, the worst team in the district was on there the week before and the week after Angleton played them. Kaleb Jammer is obviously an elite receiver, one of the best in the state (go watch the video of the game) and he's been just as good all season. The QB , Duron is also an elite QB. One thing about Jammer is he missed most of last season with an injury last year so wasn't seen much his junior year. One thing that hurts them is Angleton has so much talent that they spread it around so much that you may not see it in their numbers. Angleton's running game is also elite, I wouldn't trade them for any RB's that I have seen on other teams. However, most of the good ones are juniors so they will get more exposure next year. Also, I don't know that you can keep your starters sharp only playing them half a game.
  19. Angleton JV 56, Kingwood Park 21, Wednesday
  20. Tonight's the night for this matchup. Safe travels to everyone and I hope there's no injuries. Angleton can not afford to lose their starting QB, as the 2nd guy, Gardner, I hear is out for the season. He was also the holder for XP's and field goals. K-Parks normal method of operation is to pass a lot and I suspect we'll see a lot of that tonight.
  21. Angleton (6-0, 3-0) will be on the road Thurday night against Kingwood Park (3-3,1-2). They have played 4 times before with Angleton winning all 4. The 1st year they played twice with Angleton beating them in Humble in non district and then again at home in bi-district. They played pretty well in the 1st quarter at Crosby, but couldn't keep it up, losing 52-7. Once again, their defense seemed to give way like in some other games they have played. They have a tall QB named Pavlotos and a small RB Wolocko. The game will be streamed on Texan Live.
  22. Porter's stretegy is to use ball control and QB Sngletary, who is dual threat and has a big, good RB Binford and they are pretty efficient at keeping a drive going but probably eventually they will give way when turnovers, speed, or special teams will give them problems. Shouldn't be a problem for La Porte.
