CS kicker picked a fine time to miss his first XP of the year. Hope that injured player carted off is OK. It's always a danger when you're playing a violent sport. 11-5A-1 has now eliminated all 4 playoff teams from district 12.

Angleton fans are going all out in support. There is a tailgate in the early afternoon Friday at a local car dealership, followed by a send-off parade. College Station has only had 3 turnovers all season but Angleton has 26 takeaways so something has to give.

This won't be easy for LP, but a win is sure possible. They don't want to play like they did the first half against Anderson though. They may have learned something from watching Ball stop A&MC's offense.

College Station beat Angleton in '22 by a score of 27-20.

Think back to 2015. Angleton sneaked into the playoffs with a record of 5-5 and had beat Texas City in bidistrict by 7, then in the area round had beat Port-Neches Groves by 18 and was facing a favored College Station team in the 3rd round at Woodforest Bank Stadium and beat CS by a score of 38-22. Friday, they return to the scene of the crime,Woodforest, in the 3rd round as before and again CS is favored. Angleton will hope that lightening strikes twice in the same place. They do have a common opponent, Weiss which Angleton beat by 7 and CS beat by 6 although Angleton was playing them at home and CS on the road.

The T-formation with the 3 backs which they didn't use last night until the 2nd half is new this year. They use it most when they want to run clock so you saw them run it a lot in the 4th quarter. I think they only used it one play in the 3rd. They did score using it last night. The announcer for Texan Live apparently didn't recognize it because he kept calling it a "modified wishbone" The I-formation that they used a lot is also new. They ran the spread for the previous 4 years and before that the wing-T for a number of years. Like the wing-T, the backs line up in a 3-point stance in the T-formation. I think the real glory years for LaMarque were the 90's when they won 3 state championships in 3 consecutive years.

Whew, what a game. PAM has some slippery dudes!

That's the point! It's supposed to be confusing to the opponent. They have a multiple offense and one of them is the T-formation with 3 backs which you don't see hardly anybody using. RBs should all be ready to go and they will probably use 4 of them, at least. They also feature the shotgun and sometimes use the I formation. On defense they run an aggresive 4-2-5 with speed. Angleton may be without their best back who left Friday's game with an injury. It could definitely affect their offense. It's hard to replace somebody who averaged nearly 9 yards/carry. They need to clean up all the mistakes they made last week. Crosby usually plays better at home and this will probably be the same. So I would be happy with any win, even a 1 point win. It doesn't make too much difference whether you play College Station or Weiss since College Station only beat Weiss by 6 points. I guess your preference depends on whether you match up better against a run oriented team, College Station or a pass oriented team Weiss. Angleton has only played College Station once in 2015 in the 3rd round of the playoffs winning 38-22 against a heavy favorite. They went on to the 4th round and lost 36-35 in overtime to Ridge Point. Nobody thought they would get that far since they finished the regular season 5-5 which included a 34-0 loss to Crosby in Crosby. What about Crosby? They lost to the same team, Ridge Point in the 2nd round, 42-14. It's not how you start, but how you finish.

Simon, freshman RB for La Porte was amazing, over 300 yards I think I heard. Opponents may see him for 3 more years. Angleton probably only once more as Angleton will likely be 6A in 2026.

Angleton's best back Shockley injured early and never returned. Hope he will have a speedy recovery. Last year he missed most of the season with an injury.

Somebody, for whatever reason, wants to change the scores on Maxpreps Schedule page for Angleton's past games. At first it was just the Friendswood game and I sent in a correction twice which Maxpreps has to approve but they never did. Now he has changed that one and 3 more games. If you want to see the actual score, go to "box score" on the schedule page,choose "scoretracker" on the page that comes up, then scroll all the way down until you find "end of game" and the score you find there will be the correct one.

This game will be the second time Angleton has faced a wing-T this year, not in a game but in their 1st scrimmage. Unfortunately the opponent in that scrimmage, Cy Park is terrible, currently winless. That doesn't mean it was worthless. I'm sure they got some instruction then about how to stop the wing-T that they could build upon this week although the opponent will be far better.
