Tell me about it. Sadly it’s a reflection of the state of political discourse in this country. It’s certainly not a pissing contest to me. It’s what happens when norms are broken and ideology is weaponized. I just try to stick to the facts as I see them. When it turns nasty ugly, I don’t like it but the rules here seem to hold pretty well. 50 years ago I worked for Herman Adams in the state Capitol building. The house was primarily Democrat back then but Herman had friends among the Republicans. As chair of the calendar committee he didn’t shut them out. All representatives were there to help their constituents and promote the general welfare of the State of Texas. Bipartisanship. Courtesy. Respect for rules and traditions. Common goals, different approaches. Today? Unrecognizable and certainly unsustainable.

DC is not a state and it’s not his to do with as he pleases. He has the authority as president to call out the guard in emergencies. That’s all. That’s the problem. He fakes emergencies to exert his will. Authoritarian.

New Mexico voters can turn her out. DC voters can’t turn Trump out. Not held accountable to voters = authoritarian.

She is the governor of her state. Trump is not the mayor of DC. She is not calling in the guard to supplant or even support local law enforcement. She has evidence of an emergency in her state. Trump does whatever he wants without evidence. Even contrary to evidence. Numbers he doesn’t like he calls fake and rigged. DC can’t vote Rrump out. New Mexico residents can vote the governor out if they don’t like what she does. You MAGAs thrive on false equivalency.

Really? James Woods? Freakin’ crackpot. “Many dems…” There is no validity to the statement even offered. Anyone who seriously follows politics knows that tickets 3 years out are what talking heads make up to chirp their opinions. I don’t know who it’ll be, but it won’t be Buttigieg or Harris, of that you can be assured.

Here’s some more including property crimes. Notice how the ratio of violent crime/property crime has dropped over the past 8 - 10 years. I don’t see any indication of the catastrophe your demagogue spouts.

There is no national emergency. States have rights. That used to be a bedrock of the Republican Party. Federalizing local law enforcement is called martial law. If that’s what you want without emergency, you’re un-American.

Yes. Use the traditional Republican response. “Local control until we don’t like it”. Federalize it! The small government party goes large.

I dispute the numbers. Trump is a lying liar. He only uses numbers HE likes. To hades with accuracy.
