What about Kent State? That peaceful protest was the beginning of the end of the Vietnam War. The government perpetrated the violence by way of the National Guard. Nice academic argument. Worker safety and fair pay? Private sector abused the fire out of their responsibilities. If the fair market is so ‘fair”, why were workers compensation and wage laws necessary? Unions would not have needed to organize were workers not abused mercilessly. Why were product safety laws needed? The invisible hand places profit above all else. If mankind was altruistic, that might work. But we’re not.

That includes air traffic controllers? The military? Your statement is blanket. Zero sum. All or nothing. Civil service has a place in civil societies.
