  1. 6-0  Bulldogs

Both teams starting to show their true colors

    Very odd statement.....

WOS has it's worst inning of a 30 game season and all of a sudden that's their "true colors"?  You don't get to the 4th round by mistake, WOS is a good team that had a bad INNING, it happens. I watched the New York Yankees drop 11 runs on Kansas City in an inning and a half a couple of days ago, it happens. WOS will be back on Saturday and will certainly give it their best shot.

  2. So what is the point?!?!?!?!?! You always try to come on here and beat around the bush to try to make a point, why don't you have the balls to just state your opinion!!!!  The best team has advanced the last three years!!!!!

How about this smack daddy, quit trying to make something out of nothing that concerns you. Like my post stated "it has nothing to do with Huffman". Go make trouble somewhere else. Get yourself a few posts under your belt before you try this with me. My opinions and thoughts are out there for all to see and have been for quite some time. Go back to the basement at mom's house and try another message board.

  3. Visor didn't score a run or get a hit. BC allowed 3 unearned runs, plain and simple. Visor should've been tossed for showing up the ump with that stunt at home plate and arguing the batters box.

As for the Huffman team, Congrats on the win. Good teams figure out how to win when they don't have the best stuff and that's what they did tonite.

  4. Titan, you make this way too easy. How come you can't have a reasonable conversation without taking shots? Nowhere did I ever say in any of my previous posts that Shugart (in your words) was "unstoppable". You have tried your best to kick dirt on the guy or the BC program at every opportunity. You made a rather disparaging remark about the kid getting drafted earlier that was also uncalled for. It's a shame you won't at least entertain the idea of having a legitimate and open minded conversation about the game because you seem to have some really good knowledge about the Huffman program as well as high school ball in your area. I made a reference to the fact that Bumpas and the rest of the Huffman team is good. I also made a reference to the fact that Shugart and BC are also good. I gave credit to Huffman for winning last years series. I also referenced the fact that Huffman in the past has not wanted to play BC in a series which is opposite of this year. All of that is factual and can be backed up by numbers, for both sides. If you want to talk baseball lets do that, if not, I can't help you.

  5. So how many Cardinal fans remember getting shut out by Huffman last year ? Guess what, you are going to get that same lefty again ! Don't worry though he might not be drafted like your pitcher will be ( I am sure in the 1st. round NOT) but he has thrown nine shut outs in a row this year, two in the playoffs. As far as his 94 MPH fast ball, we faced Stephen Kolek three times in the past two years, he throws HARDER and it didn't work out very well for him.

Something else to think about, while waiting on a playoff game to conclude we watched two studs pitch 9 innings of shut out baseball, it was turned over to the bullpen and went 12 or 13 innings before a winner was decided. How does BC's pull pen look?

Remember your coach didn't want to play best of three because like Hardin Jefferson they know what will happen.

Hold your horses Titan! Don't come on here like your team is an unstoppable juggernaut. Huffman is a very good team, nobody can deny that. I remember Bumpas shutting out BC last year, but I also remember Shugart shutting down (not out) Huffman to the tune of 10 K's and a win as well. I also remember "the visor" not wanting to play BC in a series either several times in the past. It just so happens this time around Huffman has a deeper staff, it happens, don't act like Huffman has that every year because it's not the case. BC out hit Huffman last year in the series, Huffman played great defense and got the timely hits and breaks which lead to the series win. Offensively neither of these 2 teams will bash your brains in, they play to their respective strengths which is defense and pitching. The matchup looks great and if both squads play clean it'll be a heckuva game. Hopefully the game lives up to the hype because there is plenty of that to go around.

  6. Since the game is over now how about a post game report? Tell us again how many HR's against D-1 pitchers HJ has hit. Please also tell us about the pitcher that beat Bridge City and that 6'-5" pitcher that is/was untouchedable. Please tell us about that U of H catcher that went 0-3. Please tell everyone why/how this team that plays in such a weak district should even be allowed on the same field as HJ? After all is said our lefty extended his 0.00 ERA to 9 games and HJ had 2 hits.
No one NEVER disrespected HJ, you were the one disrespecting Huffman . Our kids saw your comments and used it as motivation so thank you.

    NIce job of staying classy.......wow!

To come on here and single out players after a game is weak, period. Enjoy your win, keep your remarks about individual players to yourself. If you want to talk smack to a particular poster then have at it, but leave the players out. No where in the thread was any player on HJ or Huffman talking trash, it was parents and other fans of each program. Let your comments/trash talk be aimed at them and not at the players, both sides played their best, one side won and the other lost. Leave it at that.

  7. No one else will say it so I will. I think Huffman is overrated and benefitted from playing in a weak district. If they win I will be on here to tell them good job, but I have a feeling HJ takes them down.

If you think Huffman is over rated you haven't been watching them. Nobody can control their district or how tough it is, all you can do is play who shows up. Huffman's playoff experience and talent will be difficult for anyone to match in the region, they are truly loaded. HJ has a shot because it's a one gamer and anything can happen but they'll have to play a big time game in every way to win it. Everybody knows HJ will bring their best but to say Huffman is over rated is just not being objective and just being a "homer". True baseball fans give credit where it's due and the people who know baseball will tell you Huffman is very good. Personally I hope HJ plays their best game of the season and figures out how to get a win. It's going to take a true team effort to pull it off. Good luck to HJ!

  8. Just a little scouting report on Huffman.

Pitching they don't have much ! The crafty left hander is 8-0 this year with a 0.00 E.R.A.

The righty going to pitch for UTSA is also undefeated.

They also have a right handed sophomore who has verbally committed to LSU, he throws low 90's. BellBiz30 if you are still a Dayton fan he is the kid that out pitched their ace this year and no hit them, remember ???

If those three aren't good enough Huffman has three more players that throw mid 80's and would be a starter anywhere in the state.

Hitting wise, top to bottom they hit, they have five players who have hit HR's. Everyone on the team can and will steal bases.

Most of these players will play at the next level, but right now they are focused on one thing, the State Championship !

Bedelmon , HJ is an EXCELLENT team and believe me they have Huffman's full attention.

And do not forget the most important fact of them all.......

The head coach wears a visor. :)

  9. Well, HJ led the area in Homeruns this season.... Hit homeruns off of D-1 committed pitchers.... More than once.... Who will HJ throw??? The righty who beat Bridge City and LCM or the lefty going to Bossier Parish College????? Aint nobody scared of Huffman....Bring it.. Your gonna get our best, no doubt....

You just gotta love some free entertainment!

My heart says HJ, but my head says Huffman. Wish I could see this one.

  10. HJ with an advantage tomorrow, having Friday off to rest arms. With playing Friday, the Wednesday games are looming large as both WOS and LCM will be short pitchers for the most important games of the year for these teams. An extra days rest does not sound like much but is very important this time of year. Good luck to all three teams.

WOS with plenty of pitching and easily the deepest staff in the district. No worries for the Mustangs as far as pitching goes, especially in just a 1 game situation like today. The 2 and 3 seeds from this district have a better playoff route so the game between WOS and winner of HJ/LCM is a meaningful matchup. LCM/HJ really behind the 8 ball today.

  11. Silsbee has scored 44 runs in 11 district games (4 run per game average). Last night was first time Silsbee was shut out in a district game this year.

Since when is a 4 run average not enough offense in baseball?

    BC- 43 runs in 10 games (4.3)

    WO-S- 46 in 10 games (4.6)

    LC-M- 60 in 10 games (6.0)

    HJ- 72 in 12 games (6.0)

    A chance to "out stat" you..... B)  :D  ;)

    2012

BC 79 runs in 12 games  (6.5) per game                                                    Runs allowed     7       (.58)

Silsbee 46 runs and I only had 8 games scored (5.75) per game                Runs allowed     33     (2.75)

    2013

BC 111 runs in 12 games   (9.25) per game                                              Runs allowed      31      (2.58) per game

Silsbee    116  in 12 games  (9.66) per game                                             Runs allowed     42       (3.5) per game

    2014

BC   95 runs in 12 games   (7.9) per game                                                Runs allowed     37        (3.08) per game

Silsbee   86 runs in 12 games   (7.16) per game                                        Runs allowed     34       (2.83) per game

  12. Lack of offense ?? Have you not seen the pitchers in this district? I would be willing to bet that this district has the best pitching in the area . Shugart , Anderson boys , Roddy , Moore , Cash , Edelmon , Sundgren , Partain , Bergeron .. I'm sure I've missed a few .. Good pitching beats good hitting every time

Not going to disrespect anyone at all here. This district has had just as many good arms in the past and still had lineups that could handle any of them. The district is very young and inexperienced right now, hence the drop in offense and the tight playoff races. That inexperience right now will translate into even more good baseball for years to come. And yes, good pitching beats good hitting most of the time. Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

  13. Some very valid points that I certainly agree with. I would like to add one more to the mix after reading the "underestimated" description (which is certainly correct). Silsbee was certainly under estimated by all, including Silsbee folks as well. The one thing nobody has mentioned is how over estimated the rest of the district was. This season has been one of the weaker ones in recent memory, especially offensively. There are no teams in the district that just show up and make you wonder "how do we deal with that lineup?". Much of that is due to lack of varsity experience, youth, and a combination of both. The result of the lack of offense has made for a much more level playing field and or parity throughout this intense district race.

  14. Well then I'm not understanding the sarcasm. I know you've been doing this a bit but I have no idea of your post because it turns out this year that WOS was on a 5 game win streak before BC matchup. I admit I was unsure if it was 4 or 5.

Grant has just as much to do with the streak as Aidan did, that's my point. It becomes "widely assumed" that whoever throws against Silsbee is the other teams ace, it's been like that for a few years. Both Anderson's are exceptional and capable of being called "ace" every time they toe the rubber. As far as stats go I can agree with you on the point that they don't tell the entire story. On the other it's all we, as fans, have to use as comparisons so when someone says "look at the numbers" that's what happens.
