tvc, I agree (for the most part...) There are no court cases YET. These gun nuts will push it until there is a court case or our law makers pass a law. Meanwhile, if the law DOES NOT state that you cannot do it, they operate under the premise that you can.
While I'm kind of a gun nut myself, and I support the concept of open carry, I wont be going to the mall with a scary black rifle on my back and would not be comfortable around those that do.

Just because you have the right to do something, doens NOT mean you should do it. Take the Westboro Baptist Church, for example. They have every right to do what they do, even though it is disrespectful and in poor taste. Same goes for the gun nuts taking the open carry too far.  Some common sense and good reason needs to prevail here.

    1. None of my family was here till after the Civil War, so I don't want to here about how I should feel guilty because of slavery.
    2. The Democrat Party is the party of the Ku Klux Clan, and Abraham Lincoln (who freed the slaves) was a Republican, so don't tell me how the republicans have oppressed your people.
    3. My entire family is German and all of my great-grandparents and grandparents faced beatings, bigotry, and hate for their ancestry during WWII, and it was forbidden for them to speak German or they would be attacked.
    4. If you look back through the history of the world, every culture, race, or group of people has been oppressed by another group at some point.
    5. The current president and his cabinet and administration has flat out lied and deceived the American people of all races. The Caucasian democrats along with every other race and nationality in congress currently have helped to destroy the freedoms that were granted to the people of this country by "our creator". Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are being destroyed so that we can live in the way they consider someone should live. They know better than we do, so they should tell us what to eat, what to drive, and what we can and cannot do.
    6. Most republicans fit in with number 5 above. They are just as guilty of destroying our country as anyone.
    7. President Obama ( white, black, brown, green, or other), has done very little good and very much to destroy our country in the way I mentioned above. I disagree with the majority of his policies, the things he has pushed for, and his beliefs of what governments function is.
    8. I did not vote for him either time, I also did not vote for Romney or mcCain.
    9. I am not racist, I just think he has done a great job doing what he said he would do, "fundamentally change" our country. For that I hate him. Even though the United States was not perfect and never has been, what other country has the number of immigrants trying to come there? They are coming for a reason. We were doing things better than anyone else. What do we want to change it to be like? We had the best country in the world, and his stated goal is to change it. Why? Because the majority of Americans have gotten lazy and spoiled and he knew that promising them more free stuff and that it is someone else's fault that they don't have the same lifestyle that the people we see on TV have, that we would vote for him so we could get those things without having to actually earn them. Sadly, he is right, and he won, so even though he is asking us to give up control of our lives and trying to bring our country down to the level of the 3rd world countries, we will gladly sit and beg for scraps, still hoping Donald Trump or Bill Gates stuff will be ours soon.

I missed all the up-front talk and reading this thread the morning after is entertaining. I did watch most of the Johnny Manziel show last night. Somehow all along I knew he was going to Cleveland. You gotta admit, now there is a reason to watch a Cleveland game! Good stuff y'all!

Anxious to see what Houston does. While they do need a quarterback, I hope they wait until the next round and grab McCarron or Murray, if they cant swing a deal for Mallet. Talk radio said that was still in the works this morning.

So you hate on a kid that is acting like a normal college student, but you support a cross dressing woman/man with a penis that was my 12 yr old son's subsitute teacher?

I guess I just don't get all of the hate for Johnny. Every college across the country is full of kids just like Johnny minus the Heisman Trophy. He is the first of the new social media superstar that embraced all of it and Is going to make a killing off of his fame. With all of the "blatant rule breaking" as you put it, I guess I'm just glad that he hasn't been accused of raping multiple women, stealing from fast food restaurants, shooting at people with BB guns, and stealing crab legs as some recent Heisman winners have done. I guess supposedly signing autographs, traveling around going to sporting events, and partying was way worse.

Good post BigCam... If we are going to blast Sterling for his actions, maybe we should take a hard look at all the owners of the sports franchises, big company CEOs and our own government representatives. I'm much afraid we would have a very ugly picture of the truth. For starters, google the Astros Jim Crane's past. As Sterling should be held accountable, lets not stop there,

I did too. it makes no difference if they are Republican or Democrats if they are self-serving idiots.

May be before your time... I remember it all too well; Maybe because I Ioved to hate Pete Rose. Anyway, Marge Schott was the owner of the Cincinatti Reds in the 70s. She showed more love for her dog than her players or employees. She made many racist comments during her tenure, but was finally pushed out of baseball when she said that " Adolph Hitler was good in the beginning, he just went too far." I've seen here name pop up a couple of times since the Donald Sterling fiasco started.

Here's a question: How is it that Mr Sterling has been discriminating against minorities for years and the NAACP was in the process of giving him a lifetime award? Minorities are unwelcome at his apartment complexes, but now the NAACP in the LA area wants to cry FOUL.  The NBA & NAACP are no better than Mr Sterling. He's All about money & so are they. Now that your image has taken a Hit you want to play the Victim. How many kickbacks has Sterling given the LA area urban league or NAACP. Someone benefited. As for Magic johnson, he was once a Minority owner of the Lakers for a short time, why didn't he expose Sterling then. Michael Jordan has been a majority owner for a time as well, why all of a sudden he has a problem. Sterling is as wrong as 2 left shoes, but let's be REAL; nobody really said a whole lot the 30 yrs he's been an Owner. Let's not cry Foul now. Many former & current players have said these things about this man, even the NBA has known for years.  Honestly, I'm as confused as Sterling is about this.  What's the FUSS!!!  If it wasn't important then, why so important NOW.  I would have Run him & his wife off long AGO. Too many Watered down Activist nowadays. SMH :(

I pray he gets what he deserves, but some of you so called Leaders & Role Models(Lebron, Kobe, Blake, Magic,Jordan, Barkley, NAACP etc.) need to look in the Mirror. This is Retaliation not JUSTIFICATION.  Because if this was done long before Sterling's girlfriend, we wouldn't be having this Convo.  JMO  SMH
Lastly, what is the NBA players union for???  The union had to be aware of this long ago also. Heck Doc Rivers played for the Clippers, certainly he knew.  LOL

The bad thing about this whole situation is that extremist gun activists are backing up Derek Poe. I personally own each of the weapons he's used in his stunts, but i would never dream of doing what he's done. He's staging publicity stunts to try and generate interest in his business under the guise of "demonstrating his rights." Local gun owners have already been negatively affected by this, as we can no longer conceal carry in Parkdale Mall because of their reaction to his stunt. The thing about Texas law is that there is no explicit law banning the open carry of a long gun, but there is also no law saying it's okay. it's essentially legal by omission. This omission allows hunters to carry a rifle down the road to a stand, or a gun enthusiast to carry a rifle into or out of a gun range or similar business. I have to believe that most people with a modicum of common sense can step back and say that there is no practical reason to carry an AR-15 through a crowded mall, and it defies logic that someone would do so and then claim to be shocked when people panic. "Because I have a right to" does not make the action okay. If the small minority of extremist gun owners keep pulling stunts like these, laws will begun to be passed limiting open carry, and then the same people that cause it to happen will be demonstrating and protesting and complaining about it.
