marshman got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in Richmond Foster 17 West Orange-Stark 14/Final
KOGT said that Foster will remember the night they played little ole West Orange-Stark.
WOS with 183 total yards but only 4 yards rushing. Yes 4 yards rushing,

marshman got a reaction from Gasilla in WOS Mustangs vs Richmond Foster Falcons
You are right Gas...my mistake, lot of water under the bridge since those years..lol...it was MacArthur but I think it was the 2nd game. I think WOS played Nimitz the first game the week before. I think that's the game (Nimitz) Brian Cleveland got injured and for a while it was unknown how long he would be out. There was a special atmosphere in Mustang Stadium the night of the MacArthur game for sure.

Aldine MacArthur, not Nimitz and I'm quite certain it was the first game of the season. May have been the 2nd. We did play Nimitz for a couple of years but it was long before they ever became a factor in football.

marshman got a reaction from skipper in West Orange-Stark 35 Silsbee 0/Final
I heard on my kogt monitor that WO-S had 2 starters on the O line that were out. Why is that? Injuries? And if so how long are they expected out?

I always loved hearing Cherokee being played and watching the Indian Spirit do his thing! And the bands marching "I" at halftime. Without a doubt its one of the best traditions of Texas high school football.

Sounds like a whole bunch of whine to me... You see things the way you want to see them. The waived off flag was because the ball was thrown 5 yards out of bounds and wasn't catchable. You had already got your PI on an uncatchable ball in the first half. The PI in the endzone was the model that they use to describe a PI. He was draped all over DT waiving his arms and never looked back. The guy who said he was no where close to him is delusional. That was one of the calls they got right. I think PNG got hosed on the illegal man downfield call and the and the offsides call. WOS definitely got hosed on the PI near the endzone in the first half because that ball wasn't catchable. and in the 4th qtr when your player pushed our RB a good 2 yards out of bounds that sent him to the track and almost got him hurt.

Great game to both team tonight. The both played thier hearts out. Officiating was bad no doubt, especially when it came to spotting the ball at times. The Mustangs showed a ton of heart tonight clawing thier way back into it. PNG, your offense and passing game was very impressive. You shredded WO-S' defense in the first half. I can see yall making some serious noise come playoff time. This is a game both teams can take valuable lessons from that should help them down the road. Good luck the rest of the way PNG.

Mustangs are the real deal and Teate is a beast. You got to hand it to Coach T for making the necessary changes at half great job WOS plays with a lot of HEART -

Sounds like while PNG was winning the halftime show, Coach T was winning the halftime adjustments. That man deserves a bonus with the adversity he's dealt with 2 weeks into the season. And all the WOS players as well. -

Man, that was ancient history. The last WO-S team to lose at home to PNG. Maybe some of the old farts from this era will be there tonight to get that bad taste out of their mouths.

marshman reacted to AggiesAreWe in Rutledge kick off the team
I agree. That's why I stated that most coaches would not allow him to play on their teams if Rutledge did transfer. It just sends the wrong message to the kid if he can simply leave after being kicked off and then allowed to play somewhere else.
I really don't see Chase transferring. I hear he is owning up to his mistake and being a man about it. Good for him.

marshman reacted to AggiesAreWe in wo-s back up qb he is a keeper still young
I don't know Coach T as well as some of you guys know him, but I find it hard to believe that he would be political about anything in regards to the game of football, particularly in who his starting QB would be.
IMO, Coach T will put players in positions that will be the best for the team, not so much best for the player.

marshman got a reaction from WOS95 in wo-s @ lc-m next week
Last few years WO-S/LCM has been more of a low scoring contest with both teams having lots of penalties and turnovers. Think it may be because its been the 1st game of the season and both teams were still finding out who and what they are.

marshman reacted to Mr. Buddy Garrity in what team are teams will be the road block for wo-s to win dist
You know what, there is one team that provides a roadblock for WOS: its WOS themselves. -
marshman reacted to WOSgrad in what team are teams will be the road block for wo-s to win dist
At this point, all of the district provide roadblocks....that is what Coach Thompson would tell you.

marshman reacted to Honest Abe in Aug 15th nederland will try and send a message
Anyone who was around from the mid 1980s-mid 1990s watched how WOS dominated EVERYONE in the area. They became the gold standard under Dan Hooks. Very much like Pa Lincoln in basketball. Many of you youngsters don't remember that WOS was a 5A school for much of that time, then dropped to 4A, then 3A (new 4A).
I remember one year that we (Nederland) ONLY lost 28-7 to WOS. I say ONLY bc WOS was beating everyone 40, 50-0.
It seems that ever since, WOS has been the measuring stick for everyone. -

What is amazing is year end year out, whether it is a scrimmage or a real game; everyone gauges their team when they play WOS. A tribute to how good, how respected, and the long running tradition of WOS being the team everyone wants to beat.

No team will score over 38 points on WO-S this season. NO TEAM!
I got the Stangs winning 32-24.
