5GallonBucket reacted to tvc184 in Hog hung on a flagpole at West Brook
Yes, from the pole where the flag hangs seems very clear. My post was likewise clear.
The pole by itself has no meaning. Now if they have removed the flag or trampled, I could see the issue with symbolism.
It is a cheesy prank and a crime. To try and make it some kind of disrespect to the flag issue is stretching that rubber band beyond the breaking point.

I understand the flag and saluting it and I always do.
A flag pole?
I have never thought of that as the symbol of the nation. Maybe I am missing something...........

I thought it was funny. If the pig was still alive, that would be cruel. If they stole someone's livestock, that would be wrong. But a dead wild pig? That's a good wild pig. -

Horrible. Might be a waste of a good piece of wild pig meat.

5GallonBucket reacted to Trufan in Wow. Cornell Thompson Has Filed Again Against Trey Baldwin
This is actually funny. For those of you who are on the outside of this conversation looking in, here is she scoop. This is a very black and white issue (pun). If you notice one group (the group that I'm in) talk about the actual facts of what's going on. The other group the pro Thompson group are sarcastic and demeaning. They focus on semantics and grammar. Never really dealing with the actual issue. The issues are. Why are kids wanting to leave WOS and why is Thompson trying so hard to prevent future kids from leaving. Bottom line. The kid left. It's a done deal. Coach Thompson knows that. His focus is intimidating others from leaving. Question why are kids trying to leave a program that went to state last year? Kids should be breaking down the door to transfer in. The last two kids that transferred in both had third scholarship offers pulled. They both ended up getting another offer but still. Their offer was pulled. The last two varsity played that transferred out received offers in the double digits weeks after leaving WOS. Those are facts. -

I personally would continue to conceal mine. The half second i might lose drawing it will be more than made up for by the advantage gained by the criminal not knowing I have it. -

These bikers are innocent. They are a product of their environment from low income families. They are the victims here. The police probably provoked them and just started shooting. What is this world coming to? -

A unicorn just farted somewhere or something. Colemesneilfan1 and I are in agreement about something. -

I wouldn't intentionally provoke these nuts either, but you miss my point, we can stop doing anything to give these animals reason to kill, and they will still do it.
We may be able to speed up action from them by what we do, but it's happening at some point anyway...regardless if we do anything or not.
Like I said, I agree that she has a right to do this, but I personally think it's dumb.
That still doesn't hide the fact that the real problem are these maniacs, and not someone drawing a cartoon.

So how is that working in Europe now? I mean years of not offending, political correctness and appeasement has led to Sharia Law trumping the laws of the land. Yes, there are consequences for every action and the consequences for staying silent in the face of evil is the deadliest of all consequences.

You are absolutely correct, What made them mad enough to bomb Boston marathon? They will kill when they get the opportunity!

I agree, but the problem is that if we never had another Muslim cartoon lampooning gathering, these animals would simply find other gatherings to ply their craft.
They hate us infidels, plain and simple, and don't need a specific motive to act. (9-11)

And in Texas we can carry guns.....don't necessarily need security. And if such even was held in Lufkin or Tyler....im pretty sure their would be more than enough citizens packing....
But given I have a young family....I wouldn't attend such event....

As stated earlier, the two terrorists who were killed in this incident would have NOT remained "peace loving" if it hadnt been for the gathering. They would have killed at some point in time without provocation.

Women have a right to go topless in Texas........
I also said she had a legal right.......
Let me ask you something.....
If she does it again with no security, would you participate and bring your family?
Me personally.....I would not. To me, drawing a picture of someone I don't believe in would not be worth the POSSIBLE risk. That does not take away my right to do so, I just choose to be cautious because I love my family.
I would hate to say, I lost my family to a terrorist because I wanted to piss him off and make fun of their God.......because I had the legal right.

10 pages about this and you are still talking in circles.
I think we all agree she had a legal right to do that.....
I also agree it was not the smartest thing to do and she knew the risk. If that amazing cop would have missed and gotten killed, they would of had time to wipe out the entire place.....
There comes a time when the risk may not be worth the reward.......just because you can, doesn't mean you should......

Just to throw this in many high school basketball coaches make pennies for the time they put in. They get paid to teach which isn't that much along with small stipend to coach.
And coaching isn't just about the sport or athletic scholarships, but teaching young men and women about life. Hard work, dedication, fortitude, etc etc etc.
I know some great junior high and high school coaches who have influenced young men morally and they didn't win a state championship.

Brady you have great points. AAU coaches like yourselves are great for these kids. Devoting your time and money and pushing these kids to be the best they can be is great. But, and you will have to answer this, how many of these summer coaches are like yourself and how many are there to maybe Coach their kids or other kids or even try to get a moment in the sun themselves by having success. I realize some of these high school coaches may be merely there for the job as well but many have just as much care for the kids as well.
As far as the remarks about average AAU or High School Coaches, my interpretation would be that based on pure coaching ability. I am not a good evaluator of that but I know from seeing comments that there are some AAU coaches that have had very successful careers so I would put them on the top level just like Coaches like Sutherland locally or Boutte and so on. Those coaches at the top levels may be pretty even. When you get to the lnext level where coaches haven't really had success at the top and maybe don't have the coaching skills of these the above category, I would say may be the average coaches. For the most part I would think from that level the high school coaches would have the edge there based on their education and maybe experience. my opinions there are not a criticism of you or any other coach in particular just an overall observation. I could be wrong because I have very limited AAU experiences.
With that said my hats off to the Coaches such as yourself that go the extra mile and devote large portions of your life helping these kids. I think that is one of the best things a person can do, help our youth to better themselves, keep them off the streets and give them goals to reach for. -

I totally agree, my Son was disappointed at first when he didn't land the Big D1 offer, but we kept him grounded. Lamar is a great fit & we don't have to pay a dime for his Education. Many of the kids need to be surrounded by people who actually knows what a kid is capable of & be realistic about their particular situations. Just tell the kids the Truth, that's All they want & need -

We could really stop a lot of issues in this country if we just had stricter entry laws. And when I mean strict I mean high level. and those that break them receive cruel and unusual punishment. something the left knows nothing about.
