Because it is clear that some coaches and some  kids not all could careless about the sport of track. By the way they should have dropped it many years ago. Really sad how far track has dropped on the depth chart at Orangefield. Most of the time not all if you have a good track program your football program is pretty good also. Just ask WOS they can tell you. Maybe Orangefield should start a swimming team or maybe bowling. :-[
I assume you are "Tongue in cheeking" about dropping track.  I remember that the Bobcats developed a series of PDG boys poll vaulters a few years back. :) 8)
Yes Orangefield had some good pole vaulters but that was many years ago and that is a small fraction of a track team.  Orangefield won the district championship in 1980, 81, 82 and 83.  Also in those years went sent quite a few young men to the state track meet who brought home state championships. In those years we had pretty good football teams also. That being said I know the district is different now but back then we competed with Jasper and Silsbee who were 4A and pretty much blew away 4A's like Port Neches, Nederland and Bridge City at the time. We also beat TJ and SFA in a trianglar meet held between the 3 schools. TJ was 5A, Todd Dodge was a Junior at the time. TJ had some athlete's at that time like Bruce Miller and many more. Orangefield is proud of their past pole vaulters and should be but that is the past. I want to be proud of the "Track Team".  Don't see that happening anytime soon.
Yep, with supporters like you the obvious answer is "Give up." SMH  ::)
LOL!!!!!! thats funny. Why is it when someone tells the truth on here then they are negative or not supportive? If they don't like what I say then do something about it. You can't tell me that Orangefield does not have any athletes, I know they do. They had one regional qualifier and that was a third place finish. You know nothing about me man. Back in those 80's it was manditory that you ran track if you played football. You may not have been on the track team but you did the workouts like everyone else. We also competed with each other to earn a spot on that Track Team and this was every week. You can shake your head all you want but until Orangefield addresses this problem I will continue to voice my opinion. ;) Also back then the parents backed the coaches and never questioned their decisions.
I feel your pain and understand completely Riding Solo.  Times have changed and not for the better.
I can remember a very tall kid at SFA who went on to play at, I think, Virginia.
.  Eric Alexander class of 2000 was a very good basketball player, but better in football. (not the tall kid mentioned)   played football for LSU and then with the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, and Jacksonville Jaguars
Oh yes he is Brandi's nephew!
He can go to....i saw him play against ML KING's 8th undeafeated team last year that had Pearson, Atwood, and Company. McCain was in the 7th grade, but he played on the 8th grade team for the ML King Tournament. He held his own...  Very impressed.  Seemed to have a good attitude as well.
 6. if you have athletes, size, quickness, that can hide poor coaching and make a poor coach look good.  and im not saying that central or ozens coaches are poor coaches, i don't know them nor have i seen them play or coach at practice. COACH OF THE YEAR means you took a team that exceeded their expectations.
 7. couldn't agree more hf fan

 9. This is an opinion furum, but some of you people aint got a clue about basketball and the process of all district picks. Just because you watch the game doesn't mean you know the game.

I told him that I would not send my dog to Yates. He stated that the only thing he cared about was his kid playing for a winning team which I thought was sad. Academics are of the utmost importance in my family. Yates is not known for academic excellence. 8)
I believe the NBA leads all professional sports with former players going bankrupt......

 16. Tips for silsbee if yates goes up for a dunk.....  Foul hard....really hard to send a message....to the point of knocking them to the floor......  Basketball is a contact sport as well.  Im not saying hurt intentionally, but if you ve played at a high level you know what im talking about.  I highly doubt Yates players even play football, so silsbee should get physical with them. If they hit they re free throws so be it.  Which is a lower percentage than a dunk
 17. wasn't at game heard there was a lot of dunks HJ should ve made them pay after several dunks.  Foul hard....really hard to send a message....to the point of knocking them to the floor......  Basketball is a contact sport as well.  Im not saying hurt intentionally, but if you ve played at a high level you know what im talking about.
wouldn't take it that far.....  whether yates is breaking the rules are not....the game is still going to be played so play your hardest and have confidence in your team and coach.
 21. was it 98 that silsbee lost in the first round when they were ranked very high they had chris miller, thadeus holden, lewis arline
