1. Baseball25, do you even know the history of Maine baseball? This is traditionally a very good program. They have been to the CWS 7 times. 1986 being the last time. They finished 2009 32-23. Funny thing is you hang your hat on a sweep of a UH team that has been the CWS twice, the last time being 1967!!! And what have they done lately? 27-31 last year?
 2. The total number of participants may top out around 350, but the difference is with over 6000 students, that 350 is loaded with talent. The smaller 5A schools 2000-3000 may have 350 kids, but only a handful of studs.
 3.
If that is our starting lineup next year I think we will be doomed to another mediocre year with  extremely low ppg.

So what would Roc's team have done this year and/or last night with a healthy Ashton Hall? Will he red-shirt?...or is he done? My biggest concern about Lamar's future is who will replace the points, rebounds, and leadership next year with Nabors gone? If its Brown or Wesley, its a bit discouraging that they had only two points between them? And what about Coy...will he return for a 5th year? We may find ourselves even younger next year!
I would suspect that Harper would pick up the production that Nabors has given this year, but not to the same degree. Harper can get 10pts and 7boards, and Brown can get the other 5 and 3. I think Minor will score more next season also, in the 8-10 PPG range. Maybe a guy like Phillips at LSPA? He is a rebouning machine and can score around the basket. The biggest need is an outside threat. There is a kid at SWChristian College in Tx (JC that Petteway came from) named Brandon Davis that is a 6'6" gaurd who shoots 50% from 3 and is scoring 20 PPG. I'd like to see someone like that in an LU uni. PG 6'1" Miles SG 6'2" Minor SG 6'6" Davis PF 6'6" Harper C 6'11" Custer

This was a hypothetical with 6'6" Davis. If we did go after him and he shot 40% -50% from 3 point land with his size and scored 15-20 a game (scoring over 20 in JUCO) then I beg to differ. PG 6'1" Miles    15 ppg SG 6'2" Minor    8 ppg SG 6'6" Davis    15 ppg PF 6'6" Harper  10 ppg C 6'11" Custer    8 ppg That's 56 ppg from the starters. Definitely better than this year!
What you smokin'?
 7.
Ford already can run against any 3A school we will play...
Really? Stats don't lie! Go see the stats against WOS and Jasper. He had one 70 yard run against Jasper, minus that he ran 12 times for 43 yards. WOS held him to 61 yards on 19 carries.
A's has nothing to do with talent...
Yes they do! Theres more of it at the higher A's. No doubt that Ford has 5A talent, I don't deny that, but the KVille team doesn't! Remember it's a team sport. The lines get bigger and stronger as you go up in "A"! Hey, he's your hometown guy, I get it, but take of the Wildcat Glasses for a second. I thought Harmon was a stud RB for us this year. He averaged 6.8 YPC and always gained yardage. He was tuff, tuff, tuff with a low center of gravity and the strongest leg drive I have seen in years, but I know if we stepped up to 5A his YPC would go down some because the talent level accross the board goes up.
 8.
The first round match up wont be Gilmer or Carthage because they are region 2. But Ford has been working to match up against 3-A football he will put up similar stats mark my word
Your words are marked. ;D I forgot They moved those guys up to RII. So I wonder if the KVille Jasper 1st round will be the GT 3A district?
 9. Something we all noticed last night that was very interesting: The Bearkats all had huge calves and were strong. The Cards, not so much. Outside of maybe Minor, Harper and Nwevo, but none of them looked like the SHSU crew. SHSU has a football program and a strength and conditioning program to go with it, do they have a BB S&C program? Does Lamar have a BB S&C program?
 10. Phillips looks like a DI ball hawk!
 11. If they can get into the NCAA tournament, they have a shot at an upset because they shoot well and have multiple threats. If this happens Marlin will be an even hotter commodity than he already is. No one has ever argued that he was not the best coach in the SLC!
 12. Was the 86 Lincoln team the one with Sallier and Allen? or had Allen already graduated? Bj Tyler might have been on that team??
 13. UH fires Pender at the end of the season and Marlin becomes the new head Coogah!
 14.
Those stats posted were his Junior year he will improve from last year I dont see why he couldnt average at least 8 yards per carry
Go back and look at how many Juniors put up great numbers, then the numbers decline the following year. It happens alot! Combine that with moving up in competition and well the stats I posted tell the story! Don't get me wrong here, the young man will still put up great numbers, but not 10YPC again and they won't be playing 15-16 games next year. They may only get 11 games since the 1st round matchup will be either Gilmer or Carthage!
 15.

SHSU's best players are seniors and juniors and their guards can shoot.
SHSU's "best players" may be seniors and juniors, but we reload every year. There's a reason SHSU is in the top 3 each year over what, the last five? Our best player - Clavell - returns next year, as does the "glue" that is Crow - both will be seniors. Murray is a sophomore and has shown that he can fill the Mitchell role. If we get the one big-time JUCO transfer that we have the last two years (see Allmond, Clavell) - we'll be fine with the much adored HS players coming in.
That was his point. Lamar is just now getting into recruiting more four year players so they don't have to retool every other year. How often in SHSU run with Marlin have the Bearkats started a bunch of Sophomores and Freshman. Never! Having young guys in the system getting practice time and playing time behind established Juniors and Seniors and subsidizing with one JUCO guy each year keeps you from starting over every other year which is what Lamar has been doing with all of these JUCO guys. Our biggest problem is we can't shoot. We got no outside game, and other than Nabors, we have no one that can hit a layup. Outside of Nabors and Minor, no one shoots with confidence! SHSU shot with confidence. No hesitating at all. We pass up open shot after open shot??
 16. He should be the top area back again next year, but he wont run for a +10ypc average again. Against Jasper he had 8.7 ypc, but take away the 70 yd TD and it's 3.6. Against WOS he had 3.2 ypc. Against Liberty he had 7.7 ypc. WOS, Newton, Jasper, Coldspring, Center, Vidor, BC. If he averages over or around 8 ypc against this group he will have had a great season.
 17. Who is doing it and when do they begin? Pretty sure PNG did it in middle of March last year.
 18. I will be pulling for my Cards, but I gotta say I am not expecting a W. We just don't shoot well enough to beat them at this point. Hopefully we play inspired defense lke we did against SFA, it's the only way we stand a chance.
 19. Great job ladies!!! Very Good win in a field of 16 teams. Bringing home the trophy and respect to the GT. It was cold!!! As we drove in to the fields it looked like a lake on all the side streets, but we were very impressed with the work done on the fields. Lets hope the rains stay away for a while so we can all dry out. See you guys this weekend.
 20.
He (Johnson) is a very good athlete, Best of luck to him at the next level. if Ford stays healthy he will be the frontrunner for the award nxt season.
You would think Ford would be the frontrunner next year, but I know of a couple of QB's in the Mid County area and one on the Westside that might steal his thunder!
 21. Might not have been who I would have picked for offense, but they are all deserving. Anyone nominated has had a year that merits them winning. Congrats to both young men.
 22. PNG has 4 returning starters on offensive line. 3 returning starters on DLine and 3 more that had significant PT. I am a firm believer that you start and end with the lines, both of them. I usually try and base my preseason predictions on who's lines are returning and how good those returners were the year before.
 23. Offense - Ford (KVille) Defense - Garrett (WB) Who do I want to win (biased)  ;D Offense - Harmon (PNG) Defense - Dunbar (PNG)
::) ::)
::) ::) ::)
 25.
It's obvious to think that he's a sure fire guy to receive a lot of playing time, but he has to get here and work. He can't show up expecting to walk all over these guys because of the offers he received out of high school. I play baseball with guys that received offers from SLC, Big Ten, and Pac 10 schools, and they're at the bottom of our pitching staff because they don't work.
Excellent point. I know guys that never fulfilled their potential because of that same attitude. Hopefully he comes in with a chip on his shoulder about the whole thing and gets after it for coach Woodard and co.
