1. I think you guys with this Boutte talk really do underestimate how much time, travel, energy and knowledge of the rules goes into recruiting as a college HC! By the way young is relative...I am 36 and my daughters think I am OLD, while I on the other hand think I am a young man. Of course 40 is when I will be old! ;D
 2.
He'll probably be back, 2 years left on his contract i think, doubt LU will buy it out.
I doubt they buy it out, but if someone pays him nice change to be his assistant (recruiter) elsewhere??
 3.

Doesn't seem like much of a debate but I'm not in his situation
Yeah.  It seems unfair to A&M doesn't it.  If he signs with Lamar, I quickly become a huge LaFredrick Ford fan.
Huh? I was saying I'd be on the first trip to a&m
Maybe not. Maybe A&M is not his first choice. Maybe he is waiting a bit for another offer??
 4.
Boute doesn't have to recruit, he just needs to get a guy who knows how to make it happen... Just like at KState or Baylor!!!!  Those head coaches coach... The assistance recruit!
Those two schools have much, much bigger budgets and have more Assistant coaches!
 5. On the Boutte front...While the man is an established excellent basketball coach, who learned from one of the all time greats, he has never had to recruit! Recruiting and knowing the recruiting rules has to be learned as an assistant first. If they replace Penders with Gillespie, would we be possibly replacing Roc with Penders?? is that what you meant by "Domino Effect" ps...I still say brink back Skelton. WINNER!
 6.
That's a different brand of basketball (Big 12 is not equal to SLC). So freshman John Wall isn't making a difference?
Did I miss something? Did LU sign the top HS Senior(s) in the country for next year?
 7.
Nicholls (not state anymore) pulls away wins 73-61....season finally over. Maybe some of the new true freshmen can do someting. If not....
Watch the Longhorns lately and you will find out all you need to know about relying on Freshman!
 8. Yep. She got the cast off Thursday. Already wants to try to pitch. I am having to slow her down! How is Mackenzie's leg?
 9.
As bad as this team is, the teams below them are worse! IE: McNeese. Despite an awful team, it comes down to Lamar @ Nicholls on Saturday. The winner gets the 8th spot. I watched the game for the first half. These players aren't very good. Nabors is the best and he has 1 good leg. Custer is so weak and timid, he is a perimeter player now. This Mathis kid that is starting plays hard, but isn't too good. Miles turns the ball over too much. Milk has tapered off. Hopefully with some fresh faces like the kid from Lancaster and a few others, this team will have a spark next year. If not, there will be a new regime after next season.
Excellent assessment. Except that Milk never really had it to taper off from! And one other thing...Where did Harper sneak off to? Anyone seen him in 2010?
 10.
Couldn't find anything about him, but he's a big guy. Needs to lose about 40 lbs though.. but I'll trust Coach if he said he has good feet.
Yeah, playing on the line at 340+ is ruff, but I am sure a strength and conditionning program will do him well to loosing 20-30 lb's.
 11.
We will be giving away 2 pair of tickets tonight at our SETXsports Weekly High School Preview show tonight at Hamburger Depot on Neches St. for tonight's game against Texas A&M-CC. Come out to the Depot and win you a pair.
Assuming most of us don't already have a pair!  Or that we lost them when we said "I Do". ;D
 12.
Safe to say that Mike Deane has coached his last game!!!! :( :( :(
Zeek: What does this mean for Kenyon? How old is Mike?
 13.
1. ASA 2. USFA 3. IFA 4. USSSA (La)
I would agree with this. The older you get the more important ASA becomes for exposure. One nice thing about USFA at the younger ages is the bat your lineup and free subs. It helps with development.
 14. So will he play LB or SS in the NFL?
 15.
Does anybody else think about the departure of Bubba Skelton after the 07-08 season as the beginning of the downward spiral of the the Roc regime.  Skelton was the Mississippi connection that brought the best talent of the Roc era.  The last Skelton recruit that I am aware of is Nabors who is our best player. Beyond recruiting I thought Skelton was a great bench coach who didn't mind disagreeing with Roc.  How many times during his tenure did we see him directing the team during critical time outs while Roc watched over his shoulder or screamed at refs.
I stated that last year. Also go check out the success that NW Miss. CC had while Skelton was the HC. Then check out what they did before he arrived and after he left. Crazy! Where is he now? Could he be a future LU HC?? Nevermind I found him, he is HC at Village Christian Academy HS in North Carolina.
 16. Didn't games start at 7:00 last year?
 17. Grad rates are very important. We lost several scholarships due to poor Grad rates. That said, You can win and graduate!!!
 18. He would ook better in LU Red! ;D With Tyrik Rollison transfering from Auburn to SHSU, it would be wild to see he and Dugat hooking upfor the next three years. Who would've thought watching that State Title Barnburner between Sulphur Springs and Dayton that thos two might play together someday? Food for thought!
 19. Where's baseball25? I am sure he will down play this win since Rice has yet to get a W.

Lamar is bigger than Southern Mississippi, BPT MSA is much bigger than Hattiesburg, Yet USM plays FBS. I could go on... It's all about the conference.
All that is great and all, but Lamar/BPT is also an easy 1.5 hour jont down I-10 from major entertainment in Houston! Monroe is not, LT is not, TT is not, Marshall is not, USM is not.
Please with the sorry weak excuse. Everyone here don't run to Houston for a fix. Lamar would not lose fans in the stadium, 6 times per year, just to visit Houston. A place we all been to a million times.
While I know that you are NEVER EVER wrong, everyone here does not have to run to Houston for a fix, only a portion have to to draw away from the LU crowds on Saturday. You ever been to Lubbock? or Monroe? I have. If I as part of that BPT MSA want to go to watch an NFL game I can do so at a moments notice. If you live in Lubbock it is a weekend affair! Therefore TT football is what they have. It ain't an excuse, like it or not it's a fact. For all his goffiness, the SETX Mavericks owner said it best recently when he said that "the people of SETX want $100 entertainment value out of a $15 ticket!" It sucks for us die hard Cardinal fans, but it is true!
 21. We all know PNG went 10-0 last year, with a load of Sophomores on that team. (just don't ask about our Freshman season  ;D)

 23. Championship teams are made up front on the lines. that said, PNG may be losing a stud RB and some WR and DB's, but our OLine and DLines will be back in full force with extras for rotation. The QB will be back for year #2 under Faircloth. The big question marks will be at WR and DB (anyone who saw Sophomore Bertrand run on JV last year knows we will be good at RB). Two names to remember from our undefeated JV, both Sophomore WR's, Nelson and Lacour. Not picking just yet, but I like the fact that the NDNs return some meat!
 24.
i like stan brown and minor.i can see them starting next year.been real disapointed in harper.he needs to step up next year.next year will be a big year for the roc era.another bad year and he is done.
I agree. Next year if the group below does not finish in the top 2 of the East and win 20 games then Roc is gone. Miles, Harper, Harris, Custer, Mathis, Minor, Brown and Wesley. I still think this team needs a big outside threat out of the JUCO ranks. What actually happened to Moton? I thought he would be our outside threat along with Hall.
 25. I look at it this way. HJ and Silsbee head to head were 1-1. Against like top opponents (Silsbee, HJ, Kountze, WOS and New Waverly) it goes like this: Silsbee 4-3  with a +41 points difference (Including a +7 over HJ) HJ 4-3 with a -8 point difference Kountze against HJ & Silsbee 2-2 with a +5 points difference. If I was ranking them I would have Silsbee just ahead of HJ. kountze is tricky! 1. Kountze 2. Silsbee 3. HJ
