Astros demote catcher Towles to Corpus Christi
His next move is getting rid of Sean Berry as the NON-HITTING COACH!!!
Yeah, they may want to get someone that could actually hit when he was a player as the next hitting coach. This is not the first time he has not produced in that capacity for the Stros! -
I think this actually is more the sentiments of each teams own fans than it is what the other teams fans think about them. From the article: "Contrary to popular belief, the Yankees are only the fifth-most despised team in the majors, according to an Internet algorithm built by Nielsen Co. that analyzes how people feel about certain things. This service typically uses various keywords to find out whether people have positive, negative or neutral reactions to different brands and products." So that being said I would agree. The Houston Astros fan base is not happy and has not been happy the past few years. It seems that a once proud franchise has become the laughing stock and the powers that be could care less. If you check the blogs and media reports it is nothing but negativity! I decided after last night i would not watch again until some personnel changes are made. I think it is time to see some of the young guns. Why do other organizations bring up 20 year old talent, but the Stros feel the need to wait until they are 25. the only reason I can think of is the Arbitration clock! Which fits with Drayton.

Yep...I've said it before, but all three of the guys we got from coach Skelton in NW Miss were huge assets (Sanders, Nabors and Todd). Sanders and Nabors were great leaders and very fan friendly. You could tell they both loved and respected the game!
Would you care to elaborate? Not being rude, i'm just curious...
Second year head coach who came from a larger program. They always have the atheletes just need the discipline to go with it. Not saying they'll be in the top 4 but they will be improved.
Didn't they also loose their young RB early in the season, who played well as a Freshman the year before??

PN-G football looking for last line of defense
Who were the other seniors they lost at defensive back?
Brandom was the other strarting CB. Gizzi is back. St. Claire and Denzlinger split time at Safety (St. Claire was injured). Denzlinger was not a senior, he was a junior, but suffered a neck injury early in the game against Brenham and will not play football anymore. None of them started the year before. Dunbar and St. Claire were the only ones to see any PT in 2008 and that was very limited. -
Well if he can come in and put up numbers like the last two big men from Cali (Nashid Beard and Jay Brown), then we may have a winner. Size wise he appears to be about the same a Brown.

Atterberry was 4th and started until Forney was healthy. Neumann went through his order like he should have. Forney played exceptionally well.
I didn't see Smith play in person before.. But seen Bellow play (Very impressive) , Atterberry (Not impressive), and Forney (big man showed me something). I'm now interested to see this smith kid in action now...
I didn't see Smith, but many folks from Nederland thought he should have started over Bellows. That says alot.

PNG and Nederland Varsity Runningback
badndn replied to footballmania's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yes Bertrand will be a Junior next year for PNG. He was the JV RB last year and he spent much of last spring working with Varsity while Harmon was injured. -
I hope Lumberton does at least this well, just not sure. L-Town could do much better if Hughes were moved to running back, Asher is a good kid just not a marquees player. Hughes on the other hand would make an outstanding running back but my understanding is someone close to him whines if he's not QB. Lumberton has a perfectly good back up QB that would make a great starter and personally after watching him run, Hughes I think would do himself much better college wise if he moved, he could be on the level of Hannah or Hussey I think. Just my opinion.
Lumberton's JV QB looked very good last year. Strong arm and command of the game.
I think Roc is going with a smaller, faster lineup next year. Probably one big man in the middle with a lot of big guards/small forwards like Harper, Brandon Davis, etc.
Bingo. Folks forget Harper was pulling down 10+ boards a game before he hurt his leg. That leg injury hampered him the rest of the season.

Fact is the number of FCS draftees compared to FBS is crazy low. In 2008 24 FCS Draftees In 2009 13 FCS Draftees Over 250 players drafted.

As far as Gilmer goes, I think he was just looking 4A.
Then he should have said "only 4A team", not "only team". The other local school was Evadale.
Evadale has a JV???

PNG to construct Multi-Purpose Student Activities Building

Of course there are many over here that would argue that Doug Ethridge's name should be somewhere.
Doug Etheridge (IMO) was the greatest PN-G coach since the 70's. Not losing one district game for almost four years in a row, that hasn't been equaled EVER since PN-G's dynasty years from 1974 to 1977. Burnett was good, but he was no Etheridge.
While most would agree from a coaching standpoint about Etheridge, the other factor in Matt's favor is that Matt was big part of PNG football in the 70's as well as a player. -
So what exactly has the community actually done for him??
By Community I am refering to the School Board as well as the general public that voted them in. He has asked for the following and recieved it: New equipment for advanced scouting and evaluation. Formation of an Athletic Booster Club (Booster club in just under one year has donated equipment to just about every athletic group at PNG). Approval and land to build the new Multi-Purpose center. To my knowledge he has yet to be turned down for anything that would not enhance the Athletic Programs at PNG. Very important when building an Athletic PROGRAM to feel like the community has your support. Also the reason that the Athletic Booster Club was non-existant under Matt Burnett was very simple...He didn't want one!!!
I just dont understand why all of a sudden when you get a new young hot shot coach in there everybody is jumping on the bandwagon?? The support or spirit was down the last years in the Burnet era who IMO is the face of the PNG Athletic Program.
Why do you think the spirit was down??? You think maybe that had something to do with the Burnett era??? I think it was prooven last year that Matt's time had run it's course. Anyone who would argue otherwise is just not checking the facts and being overly protective of a PNG Icon. Matt was and still is a great part of the PNG tradition. One other thing...The Face of the PNG Athletic Program is now and always will be the faces of those young men and women competing. -
I just hope everyone at PNG dosent get too attached to Faircloth when he is gone in a couple years for a higher profile job.
That would mean that he won big for several years. That and the additions to the program, I can handle that. \ But I have to say one thing...Coach Faircloth so far has gotten everything he asked for from this community. He is creating something that we can all be proud of both on and off the field. If he gets paid here, and I think he will, It wouldnt suprise me to see him stick around for a little while. -
Think back 15-20 years ago before 7 on 7... How many texas QB's, WR's and DB's were at bigtime NCAA schools and making a difference? Texas was known for it's RB's and linemen. Now answer that question today! Texas has become the new breeding grounds for QB's, wideouts and DB's. Last few years... Vince Young Colt McCoy Jevan Snead Case Keenum Kevin Kolb Drew Tate Chase Daniels Ryan Mallett Matthew Stafford Reising (Kansas) Griffin (Baylor) Graham Harrell Taylor Potts With a host of young guns all over the country right now ready to make their mark like Gilbert, Sheppard and Green. It has to stay. Texas football is light years ahead of where it was because of it.

I am just stating FACTS... BISD and its sup. can not measure up to the upper schools in the state.... I want them too, but they can't.. so why is he the highest paid sup. in the state... you can give the hater answer or you can give the truth or a honest opinion...
Your posts will make more sense when you start comparing Beaumont to cities with similar socio-economic conditions. SLC , Katy and Plano don't face the kind of problems that we have. Instead, how are we doing compared to Baytown, Channelview, or maybe Corpus Christi? I don't know the answer, but it would be a truer indication of Mr Thomas' worth.
Very good point... Exxon Mobil Stadium...Cha Ching!!! ;D Should be nicknamed "The Cage". For all three predator animals that represent the schools. Stepping into "The Cage" on Friday and Saturday nights would be a bad idea! Like Jackie Moon said on Semi-Pro when he stepped into the cage to wrestle the bear..."I immediately regret this decision!" ;D
Umm..I know everone wants to believe that Because their JV was Really good their Varsity team will be the same way. But im here to tell you, IMO just because your JV teams were so good dosent mean your Varsity team will be all that next year.. 1. This is Varsity. Everythings Faster, Bigger and Stronger. The Team you whopped up on is working that much harder to do the same to you.. 2. Some players may respond Diffrent to the Varsity level.. You may say Football is football no matter who you play, But why do you think You get draft Bust every Year.. 3. You never know What Juniors from last Year Played Varsity but didnt start, maybe thats why the JV wasnt so good.. Ever Thought about that.. IDK that was just On my mind. Now im not saying they wont be good..Im just tired of seeing Our JV, was like this or we went undefeated on JV. Not just on here, Every were
Normally I agree with the whole JV argument, but one thing that is a little different with PNG right now is that there were no Juniors on Varsity last year that didn't play. And the JV team was predominantly made up of the Sophomore class. The key is numbers. PNG has so many kids in the program that they can afford to have those borderline Juniors and Sophomores playing on JV.
We are committed to providing our Southeast Texas viewers, and most importantly the fans of Lamar sports with exclusive live coverage of college football, basketball and baseball throughout each year. Pursuant to the agreement, all games will air live on FOX 4 and will include 30-minute pre- and post- game shows. Production and on-air talent will be at the control and expense of FOX 4 with input from Lamar University athletics.
So as I read this ALL FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL and BASEBALL games will be televised. ALL, meaning both home and away. What you want to bet that's not the case...Maybe FOX 4 needs to look closely at these press releases before they put them out.
