The 'no new inning" ploy is something that tournament directors use to make you think you are playing longer games. The reality is that there is no difference between having a 1 hour and 15 minute time limit and finish the inning as there is with a 1 hour 20 minute time limit but no new inning will start with less than 5 minutes left in the game. It just sounds longer. javascript:void(0);
BINGO 75 minutes no new inning within 5 minutes = 70 minute games!
I stand by my top 4. Central and Ozen are better than what the scores and/or results indicate. If any of the other 20 4a teams played against either school the scores would have been just as bad if not worse.
PAM was much better than last year, but this scrimmage that you all keep refering to ended 14-7 PAM. And someone said something about all the three and outs PNG had in that scrimmage?? I don't remember any three and outs! PNG would put up a pretty good fight against both PAM and WB, may not beat 'em, but wouldn't get blown out. -
Yeah this game was dumbfounding, cougs had 60 more yards than the Indians in the first half and 0 pts, Both first half scores were because of great field position (1 Cougs did to themselves, other good INT return.)
So whats your point? ::) Third Quarter is when the game was put away. All NDNs in the 3rd! -
If Lumberton or LC-M opens with PA Memorial then West Brook, both those teams would also be 0 and 2. Central will be a better team for playing better competition.
It's not the losses to WB and PAM that has folks scratching their heads and doubting Central, it's the magnatude of the losses. Hey Bears Bear, did you forget about your Bears in that assesment? You can sugar coat it all you want, but Nacogdoches is a bad team (3-7 and 0-5) last year. I still think LCM will be top 4 in 20 4A. -

They tend to brag about how great the district is when you guys (Dayton) beats one of our guys, when the truth is 19 4A from 2 down just doesnt stack up. -
Who is calling the plays for Lumberton this year? I noticed that Coach Chris Babin is back after going to Head Coach in Houston last year. I think this is having an impact on the Raiders this year. Last year without him the Raiders turned the ball over more than normal it seamed. The offense seems to be clicking this year and making the neccesary game time adjustments. Hope we can stop piling up the injuries. Was it just me or did anybody else notice everytime the Raiders kicked an extra point the kicker would get hit late and only one flag came out.
Never seen a coach turn over the ball??

>PNG at the top. Impressive against Crosby. Crosby did little until the 4th Q at 31-0 when PNG was playing off and subbing backups. GP beat perinial power CC Callalen last night giving up only 8 points! A heart breaking 1 point loss to a very good team aint bad. Could easily be 2-0 against two teams that combined for 20 wins last year. >LCM defense gave up big numbers to a bad Nacogdoches team, but the offense dug em out. Not gonna happen every week in 20-4A. >Central has played two good 5A teams, but 93 points for a team that hangs its hat on defense?? The loss of Hale and the other LB may be more than most figured. Also 7 points total on offense. Ouch. >Nederland should be better when and if Forney comes back, but the lines are still suspect. >Lumberton started out 4-0 last year and beat better teams last year in BH and (JJ)Silsbee, then struggled in 20-4A. >Livingston pounded on Jasper, but see Lumberton week 0. Looks like Jasper is in trouble this year. >Vidor played well against Tx High (but THS had not seen that type of offense before), BC pasted the pirates. Nuff said. >Ozen we will find out more this evening. Intriguing team. Lots of speed. -

I'll stick with my earlier assesment on D. Merka. Very good athlete. Won't play QB at TCU. I thought Merka was the better athlete, but Doty was the better QB. Good Luck Coogs. Maybe you guys can go on another big run like last year. -
Dylan Browning is back from last year and his leg is stronger than last year according to his dad. Don't know about a soccer player unless something happened to Browning that I have not heard about.
The young kicker must be #39. He was the only Sophomore announced at the Fire-It-Up rally last week. I heard that on the 4th down play our TE was lined up on the wrong side. We had just used our last TO so couldn't stop it. We ran left right into an unblocked LB who was on the line. We averaged 4 ypc on that same play throughout the game, when we lined up correctly. That said " I had no problem with the call versus an attempted 38 yard FG". It was a learning experience for our kids for sure. Lets take it out on the Coogs! They got whooped pretty bad last week 56-30 and we put it on them last year 37-7, so they should be some hungry Coogahs. -
Last year Merka had a really good running back that gave them a legitimate 1 - 2 punch running combination from the backfield. I believe that running back graduated, they do have a platoon of running backs, but I don't think they are as good as the one from last year. The key to beating Crosby is getting the ball out of the QB's hands as quickly as possible.
Last year Merka had very little time to pass. He was either dropped in the backfield or rushed his passes. It was a long night for Crosby at The Reservation (37-7 PNG). Went back and looked and Crosby had 58 yards rushing on 24 carries last year (Merka had 14/35 yds). They had just over 200 total yards. How is the Crosby OLine this year? Could be the difference in the game again. Also noticed like I thought I remembered, that Harmon only had about 80 yards at a 4 ypc clip in the opener against BHill last season, so all those that are worried about Bertrands 70 yards and 4 ypc against a much better team in GP, I wouldn't run for the hills yet! PNG 37 Cros 7 (if Merka has no protection) 21 (if they give him time)

We got an easy 2 point's off of the swinging gate. heck, you ought to just show up to the booster club meeting's and tell Faircloth what you would do and maybe he would start thinking during a game, what would biaplayer do?
He got 1 point more than if he would've kicked the PAT. Bravo.... He left 3 on the field, that would have won the game. Both calls have to do with kicking.... Seems like PNG is very hesitant to put the kicker on the field.
Botched snap on earlier attempt and our kicker is returning from a torn ACL late last season (he was not with us when we played you guys). He had great range before the injury, but who knows now. -
We havent played WOS since they dropped to 3A!
-
One thing to remember also about our kicker...He is returning from a torn ACL late last year. Not sure what his range is right now. Pre ACL tear, he could hit from 40-45.

As I recall we didn't blow out BH in the opener last year. In fact it was a tight win against a much lesser opponent than GP. We then came out the next week against a better team than BH in Crosby and really handed it to them. -

Not the stuff dreams (playoff dreams that is) are made of. You will also find it much tougher sledding trying to run the ball in 20-4A. While I don't predict LTrain as Cellar Dwellers, I am not sold as top 4 yet either. PNG gave up 280 through the air which is a potential problem, but I don't think we will see a QB like GP had in our district. The kid was a three year starter and very savy. Vidor & Livingston wont throw much and neither will Central. We stuffed the GP running game to a 2.4 ypc mark which is stout considering that's been their MO.
This coming from a man whose team had an explosive 68 yards rushing.
Our two RBs averaged 4.2 ypc. While not great it aint bad either against Smallwood and co. Didn't run a lot because we were moving the ball well through the air. Ran the ball once on the opeing drive for 8 yards. The PNG offense will not be an issue this year either by land or air. Stopping the passing game on defense on the other hand could be our boys undoing in weeks 11 and beyond against the likes of Freindswood, Brenham, Dayton and co.

Did you know that each team was given the same allotment of tickets? Now who has the most fans, while it is fun to be a part of, doesn't win or loose ball games, but to state that Brenham blew out PNG last year (27-21 PNG driving very late to take the lead) is ignorant or idiotic one, not sure which, but Penny could correct me! ;D BrenhamBaseball, Did you actually go to the game, or were you one of the ones that thought it was sold out with out actually taking the time to find out the truth and stayed home??

PNG's Coach Faircloth wired on KFDM.com
Normally(and y'all can check the records) after PN-G makes a nice run, there's a drop off. We'll see how good Faircloth manages to buck the trend.....
Under Burnett, he had the talent to smack you in the face about every 5 years. In between when the talent was different (not what he coached) there were drop offs. I think what we are all anxious to see is how Faircloth adjusts to the talents each class brings. Early impressions are that his style is not a cookie cutter. -

Maybe those same people need to look in the mirror at that fat, beer bellied, old guy that has nothing else to do but complain about what teenagers are or aren't doing. ::) Trev and your family will do whats best for him and that is the only opinion that counts.
