1.
Are there any softball camps in the area that 10 year olds can attend? The Lamar camp is for ages 13-18. Any info. is appreciated.
Jasper High School is having a clinic.  Check out my post for it.
 2.
Feel sad that Lamar is not including the younger girls that would like to attend this camp as well.  My daughter is 7 and I am actively looking for summer camps for her to participate.  Glad to see that McNeese is including the younger girls.
Check out my post I placed for Jasper High School.  It may be what you are looking for.
 3. Coaching Staff Val Weldon is an All-Americn from Sam Houston State and part of a national champion team in 1981 and 1982.  Meagan Weldon is a 2011 graduate of Baylor University and participated in the 2011 College World Series. 4. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!  The 10 U GT Shockers competed at the 16th Annual Katy Christmas Classic this weekend.  Sunday afternoon the Shockers and the Katy Cobras were undefeated.  The Shockers started out hitting the ball well against the Katy Cobras ace pitcher.  The game was stopped due to bad weather and the tournament director made the decision to determine the winner of the 10 U division with a coin toss.  The Shockers lost the coin toss and were awarded 2nd place. I was there with my daughter who was picking up with a Houston team and observed the 10 U girls playing.  After getting an oppurtunity to watch them play I was greatly impressed with the overall team performance.  Normally I am watching the 12 U and assisting with bookkeeping and other duties and catch glimpses of them from afar.  These young ladies work well together and I am looking forward to watching them in the spring.  Keep up the hard work.  Coaches excellent job.  Parents be proud.  Congrats again. 5. Big Cat Thank you.  And you are right.  Play hard for 75 min. and you don't have to worry about the 5 min rule.  We lost the game, but we had bats on order and they did not arrive in time. Charlotte Mattox
 6. My daughter played in a tournament this weekend that had a rule set by the tournament director that a new inning would not be started if there was less than five minutes left in the game. The reason for this was to keep the games on schedule. If you where the visiting team down by a run with four minutes and fifty-nine seconds  left in the game you where not given the oppurtunity to come back. I know in the past teams have comback and won these games with less time than that. This is the first time we have been to a tourney that this rule was in place, just wondering if anyone else has played in one with this rule. Overall it was a well run tournament, nice weather, fields chalked and drug between games, real good concessions and some pretty good umpiring except for when my daughter got called  out at home when she was safe by a mile. LOL. I have the pictures to prove it.  :) I know there are alot of parents with more tournament experience than us, just wondering had anyone been to a tournament with this rule. 7. SUPERSOFTBALLMOM You said that you were there at the practice Monday. I know which mom's were there from the old GTS team.  The bookkeeper was not one of them.  All the parents that were present had a child that was going to play in the tournament in Lufkin.  If there was so much deceit going on why did you stay?  Why did you go to Lufkin?  You can't answer that because you did not go to Lufkin and you were not at the practice.  You are going off rumors and lies.  We have all picked our teams.  Good luck to all and be happy with your choice.  Charlotte Mattox
 8. SUPERSOFTBALLMOM My husband was part of organizing the group that went to Lufkin.  This was planned several months prior to Panama City.  It consisted of girls from my daughters all star team.  The team wanted to stop playing after the district tournment due to other family obligations.  The tournament director asked my husband if he could get some girls together and still participate.  He asked a couple of parents on my daughters team at that time the "old GTS" if they would be willing to play a tournament after Panama City.  These parents agreed.  One parent from OOC was contacted to see if their daughter wanted to play.  After that several other parents inquired about the team.  SUPERSOFTBALLMOM one of your current players parents contacted my husband to see if they could participate.  No one was being deceitful about that weekend.  Coach Craig was open and honest about what the team was going to consist of and if you did not like it you were welcome to leave.  He said several times "what is going on in Lufkin with this group of girls I have nothing to do with".  "This is a group of parents that want one more tournament at 10U." My daughter has tried out on her own merits with every team she has been apart of.  From the Beaumont area to the Houston area and North Texas.  If you are taking a shot at her that is wrong.  No one knew my daughter when we first came to the "old GTS tryout".  But after several tryouts and getting favorable remarks from different tryouts we chose the shockers.  Anyone that knows my daughter knows that she hustles and gives 100 % everytime.  And if this is who I think it is I am so very disappointed in you.  When she was on the team with your daughter we did it all to help support the team.  People had made up their minds that they were going to leave their teams after Panama City before the Lufkin tournament.  We "my husband" had told the "old GTS" coaches that we were not going to roster with them this fall at 12U.  Nothing deceitful about that.  No one twisted anyones arm to force anyone to come to those practices.  Coach Craig is not to blame for any of this. In my opinion only.   I feel that he needed to step in to do what was best for the GTS name and organization.  Charlotte Mattox
