1.
Last year Sulphur Springs was a 4th place team and ask Dayton how they did.
Last year SS was the third place team when they defeated Dayton in the State Title game.
 2.
I still see it being tough for the Cards in the SLC this year.
I agree. The turnovers and poor shooting from behind the arc will hurt this team in the SLC, but the second chance points due to being a good team on the boards will enable them to steal a few games and be respectable. I wish they would start Minor at the 2. Bring Harris in off the bench. Harris is just not consistent enough to get a load of minutes. Minor plays solid defense and makes pretty good decisions with the ball especially for a Freshman (he also shoots well from the charity stripe).
 3.
funny....most people who dont like the spread  think you cant have a power run game from 4 wide   ...getting into the shotgun does not automatically make you a "spread" offense...its just another way to run your offense...
Yea, PNG ran the spread this year...Ask anyone who played them if they were a "finnese" or "sissy ball" team. Don't remember too many negative rushing plays this year!
 4.
Did any of you notice that in the 5A finals 3 of the 4 teams base offense was the I formation.  I am not sure what relavance that is, but found it interesting.
And 3 of the 4 teams in the 4A finals base offense was the Spread (Lake Travis, Aledo, Brenham).
 5. Kendrick "Milk" Harris has been a big dissapointment so far. Shooting less than 20% from 3pt range!
 6.
i was agreeing with P.N.G Fan1..I didnt mean p.n.g the team is gone to have a bad year... O and yea that 1 lost from your J.V. team came fromThoes Jags..Lol just thought i might add that
Gotcha. I thought you were saying PNG and Vidors shots were last year. The 1 loss I was refering too was the Sophomores from this year who went 10-0 this year (beating Central) and lost one game as Freshman (beating Central). The loss was to Livingston by a point. I saw the PNG Central JV game this year and mentioned after that the Central JV QB was a dual threat stud, but he had nothing around him. I thought he should have been Varsity QB this year??
 7.
Lol..WB midas well say they got dang near the whole team comeing back.. And Yea P.N.G Vidor had their best shot last year..IDK how they'll be this year
Not so fast with PNG. PNG may be better next year. Both the O line and the D lines will be returning (which is were Championship teams are created). The QB returns as well as several other players in various positions. Also adding some very good Sophomores from an undefeated JV and a group that has lost 1 game in HS. It will also be a second year in Faircloths system and you will see improvement due to familiarity.
 8. What no Golden Triangle additions? I don't get it. Dayton is included in the Houston area???  ;D
 9.
WO-S has 2.
2 outta 4 for WOS
 10. I agree with SFA85... When PNG and Nederland are atop the district in basketball the district is down! But one thing to remember about PNG and Nederland that you are seeing now is the results of the Little Dribblers programs that were started when these kids were younger. This has made these two schools better, but never will they be great.
 11. PNG is 3 for 6
 12. Four from PNG QB Doty OL Lunceford DE/LB Schexneider WR Jalali Others from 20 4A Nederland            Lumberton            Ozen QB Forney            QB Hughes          RB Jackson OL Jones WR Selanga/Schlett Central                LCM                    Vidor RB Heard              WR Sonnier          ? Not sure who is returning QB Mitchell          QB Gonzales
 13. PNG vs Central (Electric. One of the craziest finishes I have ever seen)
 14.

You guys either forget or don't realize that Beaumont pays all three coaches the same salary. Last I looked Stump was making less than $80K a year. Same as Washington and Nelson. He will be offered $95K+ somewhere and WB will not be able to counter because it would cost them 45K+ and they are not about to pay Nelson or Washington $95K!
stump makes more than the other two coaches...
You got proof? Last I read they all made either $72K or $76K. Stump will get an offer somewhere in the next few years for $95K to $105K. Do you think Beaumont will match it? I don't. On the other hand I know that PNG was ready to give Danaher $100K and if Faircloth continues what he has started next year, the PNG School Board will pay him enough to keep him around.
 15.
One of the best games I've seen was the 1998 Dayton vs.PNG @ Lamar University in Beaumont. Both teams were loaded w/talent that year.
Dhakari was a beast and that sophomore RB (forgot his name) made a great one two punch. That game really set the tone for the run we had the next year to the title. I would say this season we felt like the winner of the Brenham/PNG might go all the way (sure Dayton would've had a say  ;D). I felt like had we had another minute in that game we would have pulled it out and gone on to state. Probably the best team that fell short. PNG in '99 probably maxed out. Not beating Stephenville was not falling short.
 16.
As much as I'd like to believe you guy's it's really all about marketing that's just as bad as DCTF and others.A number of years ago we had the Houston Post that had alot more HS sports coverage than all the others combined. Now the Hearst family owns the Houston Chronicle and the baby sister paper The Beaumont Enterprize.Hearst Corp.was losing market share to the Post so Football and other HS Sports got coverage to try to regain the lead in marketing locally and as soon as the Houston Post was no longer on the newstands the wide coverage dwindled away w/exception of the Obituary column. That's the real logic and the truth Believe It or Not.
?? ?? How many people in Dayton get the Beaumont Enterprise? I am sure it is anywhere between zero and none! So why would they include Dayton in their coverage base for the BEAUMONT ENTERPRISE Super Gold Team? Doesn't Baytown have a paper? So why don't they have an all-star team? Wouldn't Dayton be in the Baytown coverage area? Go cry to them.
 17.
Although Rice isn't very good, they did beat South Alabama earlier in the year and lost by 4 points to LSU a few nights earlier, so this is definitely a good win for LU.  Looking at the upcoming schedule, maybe they can put together a nice win streak.
Any win over a DI team is a good win for LU right now. Can't turn it over 20 times and win very often.
 18.
I kind of understand, but it seems Trey Franks got scratched from every poll there is. I still think the school board shafted him. I am not condoning what he did, but kids make mistakes. JMO
Agreed 100%. What he did did not warrant the death penalty to his HS career. Congrats to the OC folks. BC, Vidor and LCM are all on the uptick and WOS was young and should be a power in the next several years again.
 19. My mother told me "if you don't have anything nice to say..." well you know he rest. :-X
 20. If you notice on the last play the official was falling down as the WR was trying to gain controll. The official was not looking at the end of the play. He wass getting up off the ground trying to throw up the TD sign. Great game. Fun to watch.
 21.

Yea what a joke bc Marshall has a kid Aaron Franklin heading to OU as a LB or safety. Nowhere to be found.  ???
The real joke is that there are probably dozens of players just as good as Franklin who receive no exposure (smaller schools, less covered areas, etc.) and will not be going anywhere. Atleast he has been given a shot. In addition, those players who do make the All-State team will see their recruiting clout go up tremendously and will, most likely, receive a scholarship to a D1 school. In contrast, many players (perhaps even better players) will never get that recognition and, therefore, never go to any college. It's a big crapshoot and the player with the loudest horn section behind him has the advantage.
And then there are those cases where a highly recruited kid, has a decent senior year, but gets voted to the All State team and in some cases MVP when he did not even make his districts 1st team. The locals recognized the kids that put up the numbers, but all the All State voters just recognized the name.
 22. Without a doubt it is because they are afraid of Kirbyville! So now instead they play Gilmer. ;D
 23.
240 4A schools 24 positions from each school (including punter and kicker) equals 5,760 kids.  There are going to be some good athletes left out.
They really are going to get left out if they keep the ratio of voters from DFW over the other areas combined!
North Texas bias indeed. You cannot tell me that SE Texas, East Texas, Houston area, and Austin/San Antonio area are All that far behind Dallas in terms of talent. Too many pollsters live in that area, they vote for guys they see regularly. Seems to me that they need to get some voters from wider portions of the State.
BINGO!
 24.

You guys either forget or don't realize that Beaumont pays all three coaches the same salary. He will be offered $95K+ somewhere and WB will not be able to counter because it would cost them 45K+ and they are not about to pay Nelson or Washington $95K! He also is not going to be AD at WB. And wherever he goes, he will bring his son's with him. Besides I hear that there is or was another Freshman that started over his son this year??(is this correct?) If Faircloth leaves PNG, it will be for Permian! Of course Permians own Coach Allman who was a Permian allum left for Austin Westlake and $125K a year this year (and they are playing for th state title this weekend). I think if Faircloth gets paid (and PNG will pay) he will stay for a while. The key will be keeping all of the great assistant coaches he brought in (several will be HC candidates very soon somewhere).
Stump Jr was on JV and played about 1/2 the season...he got hurt a week before being pulled up to Varsity....but there was no one else....I wouldn't see Faircloth going back to west Texas...allum or not...unless he gets offered some crazy amount of money...Faircloth will cut out like the Cincinatti coach did for Notre Dame... 8)
Well??Faircloth took the PNG job, then about a month and a half later Allman left for Westlake (which was a shocker to Permian folks). Permian people were very upset because had they known about Allman and the Westlake deal they would have promoted Faircloth (they really liked him alot). As it turns out Permian did not go out and find a young new coach, they replaced Allman with the retired coach from the Friday Night Lights era, which looks like a short term fix while they watch to see if Faircloth has success here. I think PNG would match any salary that Permian put up, but I would say that Westlake money would be hard to match. I'm just glad that we have an influx of great young coaches back in SETX! They are putting us back on the TXHS Football Map.
 25. That was the point. He is a very good smart athlete, but not a QB. Maybe a FS or bulked up to play LB. Definetely not FBS or even FCS. Maybe DII at another position.
