1. If Texas A&M moves leagues, there is a possibility - even with the game on 'opening weekend' - that the two schools could be in a situation where they'd have to move the game to a later year. Seen it happen a few times and the schools would likely work amicably to reschedule.
 2. Woodard gave an accurate assessment about certain fans on the two major Lamar boards... but we'll leave it for what it is.
"These people on the Internet who think it's going to happen, they're living 30 years ago," Woodard said. "I'm sorry. Why would Baylor pass up millions of dollars to come here? It's just not going to happen. They need to let that go."
Anyone who has a clue needs to realize that as some of you have said - a BCS team will not come to Lamar until it is an FBS team. There are the odd exceptions (Ball State is heading to Illinois State in the next few years). Lamar will be able to get BCS teams when that move to FBS occurs, just like Texas St-San Marcos is set to do and even schools like ULM (Baylor coming up) and UL-Lafayette (Oklahoma State) have done. You can not tell me that a FBS-level ULM can do something that a FBS-level Lamar can not do. Dabe is so confused and off-base with his assessment. If he is going to write an article based on what UNLV has to say to get some attention, the Beaumont Enterprise really is stretching for content.
 3.
Nor does it matter or makes any common sense. Many think next years vote by UTSA and Texas st makes Lamar a lock for the WAC, I don't. But lets say it does, then what sense does it make to block Lamar this year and get the conference out of default. Either the WAC is very stupid or there is something big coming to the WAC that does not involve Lamar.
Comes down to timeline... the WAC can not have all these FCS schools playing full league schedules at once. If you bring in Lamar now, you will have LU and UTSA both on the same timeline making a mess of '12 scheduling, since neither could have full WAC schedules... 2012 - TXST counts as FBS, UTSA counts as FCS (Lamar counts as FCS) 2013 - TXST & UTSA count as FBS (Lamar does too) Best bet is Lamar in all sports including football in '13.
 4.
Yeah I know that rule. Rules can be changed or Lamar joins the Summit. We would kick butt there in every sport.
What benefit does Summit League get from adding Lamar? They've "centralized" more in the midwest. Your opinions are so completely asinine, it is unbelievable. As mentioned on  BRI - you are giving Lamar a very bad name on the message boards with many of your viewpoints posted under the 'Craps' name elsewhere.
 5.
Lamar should have a plan B ready, the SBC. Lamar could get an invite for football only and act as UALR football to keep the balance. The SLC did put in place a rule preventing schools in the SLC from joining other conferences as football members. I think something can be worked out since Lamar has yet to join SLC football.
Lamar has already joined the Southland Conference for football - it is pretty ironclad at this point. Have they played a SLC game? Nope - but they are on all the schedules for next year and counting as a league game.
 6. 1) The WAC commish speaking came from UTSA's beat writer 2) The rest of the story is opinionated by Matt Peloquin 3) You missed SHSU...
If four schools are indeed invited, all signs point to the possibility of them being: 1) Lamar: will add an 8th football school and 9th all-sports member 2) Seattle: would be the 10th member but without football; Would provide some access to the Seattle market; close to WAC member Idaho 3) Utah Valley: would be the 11th member, without football. A travel partner for Utah St. 4a) SHSU: would be the 12th member, with football as the 9th member. Woudl allow best geographic division alignment for non-football sports. 4b) CSU Bakersfield: would be the 12th member, without football; Located close enough to SJSU
7. Nothing is official until there is a press release, press conference, etc. The source coachacola referenced to has thrown tons of crap against the wall with most of it not sticking. That's a credible response from me!
 8.
Even this article was talking about the WAC.. No one can say it's just hearsay anymore.
The site referenced is a college realignment site primarily... and they have mentioned Lamar to the WAC for some time.
 9.
Why even include that in the contract if Lamar had no plans to join the WAC or Sun Belt in the near future?
I'm sure there are several stipulations in there... I've seen game contracts and there's stipulations regarding a school switching conferences and/or NCAA classification, that automatically void contracts. In this case, the stipulation is that if they change classification (FCS to FBS), that there is an increase. It's not surprising...
 10. How's FBS going for them? It's essentially killed off all their other sports. Many of the sports that they were known for prior to going FBS and even when still in the Southland, have fallen so far off the back of the bus - its embarrassing. They are probably the worst-funded FBS program in America, but guess it's okay since they beat that school in Alabama a few years back.
 11.
It was an exhibition game during Roc's first season.
Correct... and Delta State loss was in 2005-06 season by nine...
 12.
You're an idiot if you think the top DII teams are better than SLC teams.
I know you guys lost to TAMU-Kingsville in the last five years... did you also lose to Delta State? I do not think all Division II teams are better than the SLC - but there's not too much disparity in scholarships from Div II to Div I, that it does not surprise me if/when these Div II teams beat low majors...
 13.
Well, the WNIT must have changed from a couple of years ago.
Like the NIT - the WNIT did change a few years ago. Their rules are different, as have been noted.
Really, the debating is pointless and I've made my point. Lamar is playing in the post season and it is great for the program. Automatic bid or at large I don't care.
Wouldn't be a debate if you folks could interpret the rules and/or read your own school's release. Said release notes, "Under the WNIT's standards, the second-place team in a conference receives the automatic bid should the regular-season champion also win the conference tournament. " It's going to be really scary if Bob West understands this all before long...  ;)
 14.
I guess that is how you interpret it? The way I see it is if McNeese doesn't win the SLC tournament they would get the automatic bid to the WNIT.
Correct... but McNeese won the SLC tournament on ]! So, the automatic bid goes to Lamar...
Will wait and see.  The two portions of the invite rules posted would still tend to indicate that LU will receive an invite via the conference qualifier and not as a true at large.  In the first quote it is stated that the WNIT will invite at least one team from each eligible conference.  By part "b" in Bigred360's post Lamar will be the highest placed regular season team assuming they don't get an NCAA at large invite in which case I think UCA or Sam would be next in line.
Lamar is the next-highest regular season team by virtue of the league's seeding for the conference tournament. They go by the individual league's tiebreaker... SHSU would be crowing about a WNIT if it was happening - it's not.
 15.
This would be McNeese State as they were the highest-finishing team in the conference regular-season standings.
Finish reading - "b.) is not selected for the NCAA Tournament. " Lamar is selected by being the highest finishing team that was not selected for the NCAA Tournament.
