  1. No 6A team will win a State Title with an offense that completes 2 to 3 passes a game. Offense can neutralize two or three exceptional defenders, but not a team full of defensive playmakers like you see later in 6A and even 5A playoffs.

Now a team that can complete a very high percentage of it’s passes (80%+) and throws 10 to 15 passes a game could be a force at the higher levels. Just don’t see it usually because no QB with that kind of skill wants to go to a school running that offense, when he can go run a spread option and really show his skills throwing 20 to 30 a game.

Will be back next year... And hopefully it's Cuero.. But now it's on to Basketball for the Tigers.. Go get the win Cuero. Would like to see this lost come from the State Champs . Maybe will meet up in the Basketball playoffs that would be fun... Peace :)

Agreed. Always want to say you lost to the BEST.

Last year PNG lost to College Station and they went on to win it all. This year I’ll be rooting for FB Marshall next Friday night to make it two in a row.

Congrats to silsbee on an outstanding year. Really didnt think that team png played early this season had it in them to make it this far. Proved me wrong. Nearly pulled this one off too. Great season.

    Merry christmas yall. See ya

I agree. For those complaining about the coaching, go back an look at how much this team improved game in game out. That doesn’t happen with poor, decent or even above average coaching.

Congrats to all involved in that program this season.

Your #TXHSFB fun fact of the day:

Last night, Cuero became the just the second Texas high school football program to reach a state title game in five consecutive decades (70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s).

    The other is Wichita Falls (30s, 40, 50s, 60s and 70s).

80’s were the “Strait Train” Robert Straight days. They took out my SFA Eagles in 87 I believe(Semi-Finals). That SFA team woulda won State had it not been for Straight.

He wanted to move some place where he could be AD and set things up for his son to take the program over.

I can see BH getting it’s share of “recruits” in the years to come. Great schools. Money. Away from Houston. Growing. Room for expansion. Excellent facilities with room for growth. Good academics. The only thing missing is apartment complexes for those that can’t afford the $300K+ price tag on owning a home in Mont Belvieu.

    Is Westerberg from MB area?

  6. Here we go again with the taking of the knee. That’s something coaches did in Pop Warner to keep kids from running around when someone’s injured and getting in the way of trainers, EMT,  etc.. Taking the near adult kids to sideline is more effective. Look around, no one else does this take a knee for respect thing.

I’ve watched lots of college and NFL games and don’t see every player on both teams huddle up on a knee when an injury occurs. In fact only time you do see it in the NFL is for prayer in a significant injury requiring a cart. Petty!

How about entertaining game between two battle tested teams. Good luck next year Tigers and next week Goblers.

  7. It happens alot. See Katy Tigers. This year FB Marshall. Lake Travis got PNG’s top returning 2 year starting lineman a couple years back amongst others.

Problem is, if they move in and get releases and approval’s then what else you gonna do. Winners wanna play with high profile winning programs. This is why Alabama has 5 stars on bench instead of starting at 90% of the other NCAA establishments.

Teams with good running games pray for wet fields while teams with passing attacks love the dry surface. Why would anyone with a ground game agree to reschedule?

Actually passing teams have a bigger advantage on a slippery field because WR’s know where they’re going and DB’s tend to slip more in those conditions.

Not me.  I'm guessing 5-5 or 6-4.  His overall record was 95-64 (.596).  A little better than .500.  I was not a fan of student body right, student body left, 3-step passing game, and punting.  I like scores of 72-69 vs. 3-0.  I get it.  Some like offense, some like defense.

    Go Indians.  Peace.

And Shug would not have stayed at PNG. DLong days were because of MLong calling plays. Folks forget how vanilla it was after he left.
