  1. I laugh at the people that say PNG squeeked by BH. Look at the stats. The score does not always show the entire story. A Win is a win in the end, but PNG dominated that game on both sides of the ball. BH had 200 total yards (of which 45+ came at the end when PNG went prevent) and PNG was over 350. BH scored both TD's on the next play after PNG fumbles (both times they had the ball inside their 20). That's part of the game, but it wasn't like BH was doing anything that PNG couldn't handle. I will admit that Crosby was a nail bitter and PNG really played poorly in the first half, but MB did what he does best with his defense and made some adjustments at the half and got that young QB of Crosby rattled. They also opened up the playbook on offense.

I am not sold on PNG being a big threat in the playoffs, but I do see them getting one of the top spots in the District.

    1. Central

    2. PNG

    3. Lumberton

    4. Anybody's guess (Nederland and Ozen will at least be battle tested).

  2. What you guys are not taking into acount is that the evacuation of the middle Texas Coast will create quite a bit of traffic up into Houston and Waller/Bryan-College Station areas begining tonight and well into Thursday and Friday. I think that probably played a pretty big roll in the cancellation. Also remember Rita was forcast to hit Matagorda Bay at this same point (72 Hrs) in 2005 with the models actually looking almost identical to Ike. We all know how that turned out.

  4. One thing that I have always had a problem with is that most of the top nationally ranked programs year in and year out are private schools. Most states allow the privates to play with the publics in the same playoffs thus they get to recruit the top talent to one team. Imagine if Kelly could play in the 5A State Playoffs against the likes of Katy and SLC. Most of the top area talent would flock to Kelly to get that edge. Then the public schools would be watered down.

Look at the top teams from other states:

    St. X - Ohio (private)

    Concord DeLaSalle - Cali (private)

    Evangel Christian - Louisiana (private)

Even Miami NW gets to pull from the entire district of over 100,000 students.

  5. I just do not think McCown or Long did anything, but continue our history of being a hot spot for solid QB transfers...

    You are kidding right?

Were you on campus in 2004?

    SHSU Pre Long:

    4-7

    2-9

    SHSU Long:

    11-3

One game from the National Championship (farthest ever)

    #3 National Ranking (highest ever)

    Most wins in school history

Finished a close second for the IAA Heisman (Walter Payton Award)

Broke just a bout every single game, single season and career passing record at SHSU.

Attendance at Bowers was through the roof.

    SHSU Post Long:

    3-7

    6-5

    7-4

And in 2001 McCown was just a notch below Long in his accolades and is in second in most of those records at SHSU.

They did something! What a pompus jerk. Sure it would be nice to get a top notch QB for four years, but guess what, those guys don't want to go to SHSU or Lamar or any other FCS because they are getting offers to play on TV on Saturdays.

  6. I think Tatums biggest problem has been the system and the lack of WR's. Johnson dropped a lot of balls last year ( a lot). And the fact that they only threw in obvious passing downs and ran the same stupid one step pump fake, three step pass deep play all the time really hurt him. He tends to over throw hi wide outs quite a bit, which I think is a product of having a big arm and no speed at wideout to go get it. He does throw a nice tight spiral and can chunk it deep with the best of 'em in the HS ranks. I think if Chaisson comes and Tatum would obviously RS his first year (no LU Footbal on 2009), he could be an asset in 2012 as a Junior after Chaisson. At the very least he could be a good backup.

  7. Actually there were two common opponents.

    Galena Park

    BH wins 35-30

    PNG wins 33-0

Also PNG played Crosby before they scrapped the Spread and went back to the power game. That game would have been alot different if they played a few weeks later!

After scrapping the Spread before week three, PNG went on a tear and averaged 27 ppg over the next 10 (including the playoffs).

    I say:

    PNG 28

    BH 14
