  1. Well, we're not positive he has committed yet so lets wait for the official word first before we predict the guys future.

    ???????????????

    Whos predicting anyones future?

Read my post again. I said he could be a good FCS QB down the road. Didn't say at Lamar. I didn't "predict his future" based on him committing to LU, I base my info on what I have seen every game for three years now.

  2. I predict after Friday Night the district will look like this:

    Ned  4-0

    Lum  3-1

    Liv    3-1

    PNG  2-2

    Cen  2-2

    Oz    1-3

    Vid    1-3

    LCM  0-4

And I predict a finish of:

    Ned  7-0

    Cen  5-2

    Lum  4-3

    PNG  4-3

    Liv    4-3

    Oz    2-5

    Vid    2-5

    LCM  0-7

Since Liv has a +18 tie braker head start now on PNG and Lumberton is +18 on Liv, PNG has some work to do against Lumberton.

Of course the only thing that I am certain about is LCM will not be in the playoffs!

  3. Good move for both of those young men and LU as a program to start out with as much local talent as possible.

Where is Bevil at now? JUCO? Would be good to have a JUCO QB and a good mix of JUCO and 4 yr talent right away.

With the right coaching Tatum could be an FCS starter in a couple of years, but he needs to be in an offense that doesn't rely on him to do any running! He definetly has the arm and accuracy.

  4. I'm never wrong.  ;D Lumberton and Raider Haters both said the same types of things about Livingston. I don't know the percentages of people from Lumberton or other cities that said these things and I'm not about to go back and check every single post to get statistics...catch my drift. Like I said it's not that important to me. The point is, it wasn't all Lumberton people like they were single out by the other poster. I know this thread is getting very old about now but I just can't help myself arguing with a Vidorian. U people have now made me want to become the bestest of friends with Dayton.

So since as you said "it's not that important to me" explain to us again why you started the thread ??? ::)

Look facts are that when Lumberton beat Livingston, Livingston was 0-2 and had lost previously to a bad 3A. I don't recall anyone other than Lumberton actually seeing Livingston play up to that point, so most of us local HS football fans took what the Lumberton folks said about Livingston as solid information.

Some of the posts from Lumberton fans imediately after Lumberton beat Livingston:

You are right they are terrible!  I watched a half of it and had to leave it was ridiculous.  Lumberton has a ways to go before they can get their hopes up.  They will struggle to get into the playoffs this year from what I saw.

You obviously don't know a da  thing about football!!!

I think his assessment is fairly accurate. As a Raider fan myself, I caution you against thinking this victory was more than it was. Livingston is a bad team.

    Just my thoughts!!!!!!

Lumberton beat a weak team but hey we have to play them all just like everyone else in district!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I found one guy that really seams to despise all things Lumberton "earlwick" that ragged on Lumberton for beating up on what he called a "bad" Livingston team. Other than that I couldn't find anything from any other non-LTrain fans! What do you guys in Lumberton want? You had a great year last year and we all sang your praises and congratulated you and many of us went out and supported you in the playoffs. If you think that from week 0 to week 10 we will be going to any Lumberton games to root for your home team rather than our home team your insane! Make the playoffs again and many of us in the area will come out in support again as we have done for years. That is what makes SETX unique from many other areas in the state. We support one another come week 11 and take great pride in SETX football and our community!

  5. TexasPrepInsider.com's

Greater Houston Area Week 7 4A Top 20 Rankings

    1) Dayton  (4-1)

    2) El Campo (5-0)

    3) Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated (3-2)

    4) Friendswood (3-1)

    5) Houston Westbury (4-1)

    6) Texas City (3-2)

    7) Lumberton (4-1)

    8.)Rosenberg Terry (2-2)

    9) Nederland (3-1)

    10) Huntsville (3-1)

    11) Livingston (2-2)

    12) Houston Davis (5-0)

    13) La Marque (2-3)

    14) Port Neches-Groves (3-2)

    15) Crosby (2-3)

    16) Bay City (2-3)

    17) Pearland Dawson (3-1)

    18) Beaumont Central  (3-2)

    19) Houston C.E. King (4-1)

    20) Waller (2-4)

I wonder how much thought really went into these rankings?

How does a one loss Friendswood team that anialated a one loss Dayton team rank three spots below them?

How about the fact that Lamar Consolidated with two losses is ranked two spots ahead of a Tx City team that beat them?

And ranking anyone in district 20-4A currently ahead of Nederland is ridiculous. Say what you want Lumberton, but right now Nederland is leading this district. If Lumberton had beaten Vidor then I could see it.

There is bound to be a couple of other Houston area 4A's that are more deserving than PNG and Crosby at this point in the season!

  6. Hooks, hands down.  The numbers don't lie!

To the guy that said Hooks was at a larger school in it's classification and had an advantage, then how do you downplay the fact that he has won and taken WOS to state titles at 5A and 4A before they dropped to 3A. In 2000 WOS was one of the smallest 4A in the state and lost to Ennis in the title game. That says alot about his ability to assemble great coaching staffs and get the most out of his talent.

Also, look at Dan Ray's record against Neuman and Stewart recently!

P.S. As an opposing fan, I hate Dan Ray Hooks, but I respect the heck out of him and would love to have him coaching my favorite team. ;D

  7. Nederland may go 1 or 2 rounds, maybe. Lumberton will beat them i promise you.

Are you one of the many Lumberton fans that promised last year that Lumberton would beat PNG? Howed that work out for ya? Outside of Nederland, I don't see any other 20-4A rep winning bi-district. Crosby, North Forest and Dayton are all better. PNG got lucky against Crosby and they were starting a Soph QB in his first ever varsity game.

I think Nederland will win the district and maybe go undefeated in doing so. I think they will beat 19-4A (sans Dayton). Then they will lose to Friendswood. Nederland doesn't have the Defense to slow down FW and FW has the defense to slow down Nederland. Just one mans opinion! Don't forget you asked (see the title)  ;D

  8. Exactly what I was saying earlier WOS92. Very competative locally, but not in the playoffs. I think this past Friday night showed that, with the favorite losing in 3 of the 4 games. 20-4A is actually probably in the lower half of the 32 districts in the state. Facts are facts.

WOS played Ennis for the 4A state title in 2000, the year after PNG played Stephenville. Since then nothing!

  9. Actually, most of the comments about Livingston being horrible were from non-Lumberton fans. They said Livingston was horrible because Lumberton beat them as if Lumberton can only beat a horrible team and couldn't possibly beat another good team.

Actually you are incorrect. Most of the posts that said Livingston was horrible after the Lumberton game came from Lumberton fans. Go back and check.

  10. Recent History???  Lumberton and Dayton made DEEEEEEP playoff runs last year, how much more recent can you get????  Granted Dayton is no longer in our district, but we still are one of the top 3-4 districts for consistency.  PNG got beat by the state champion, so wouldn't call them a slouch last year either, we don't know how far they could've gone.  204A is a solid district.

Dayton made a deep playoff run and they are in another district now.

Lumberton made a deep playoff run for Lumberton. Which was great for the program, but not a deep playoff run. When was the last time this district (and I am talking about a local 4A - not Dayton) has been to a Championship or even a Semifinal. The district is tough because of the parody, which is great for local intrest, but statewide this district might be top 15 right now. Take those SETX Gumbo tinted glasses off and you will see the truth.

    Districts That are better:

    1. 4

    2. 5

    3. 8

    4. 10

    5. 13

    6. 14

    7. 16

    8. 18

    9. 23

    10. 24

    11. 25

    12. 27

    13. 30

  11. badndn, you may want to focus on getting in period.

Are you serious? look at the title of the Post! Get your panties out of a wad and try not being so thin skinned. Sorry I don't think your precious Bulldogs are a State Title contender because they beat PNG! Guess what I don't think PNG will get by 19-4A if they face either Dayton or Crosby, maybe not even Noth Forest.

This Nederland team is just not as good as some of the other Nueman led teams have been. The offense is potent, but they struggle defensively. can't do that and win in the playoffs.

And PNG has the same problem. Good offense, poor defense.

  12. Not exactly. 20-4A is a very tough district. True at this point and time we do not know how it will end. Most believe the top 4 finishers in this district will play each other close. Which means to me once in the playoffs begin some of our lower tier finishers may be able to surprise some of the top seeds in other districts. In theory.

I wouldn't put money on that.

The district is tuff against one another, but I just don't seeing it being competetive outside of Bi-District this year.

  13. I think that Vidor may be more than a spoiler and go ahead and make the playoffs themselves.

Well when you take into consideration that more than half of the district will get into the playoffs, it ain't that big of an accomplishment. Winning district or runner up is the only thing to boast anymore. And as far as most are concerned the playoffs don't really start now until after bi-district.

  14. it doesnt matter if he goes or stays we will still produce a playoff team

With four teams going to the playoffs my dog could coach a playoff team. Kinda low goals set there for measuring a coach....

Has your dog been missing since the start of football season? If so I think we found him calling plays over here at the Reservation!  ;D
