I agree... the thing is that those big lines year in, year out, are created in the weight room over a period of years.  I'll be willing to bet that there's a dedicated strength and conditioning guy or at least a solid o-line coach who's instilling a dream in fat junior high kids.

Some yes, but you can't teach 6'4" 290 lbs.

Briles is a great example.  If he had stayed at Wolforth Frenship, he very well could have gotten one there as well.

Briles never coached at WF. He left SVille after 99 title and went to Texas Tech as RB coach. Kendall Briles transfered for Senior year to WF (a suburb of Lubbock) because that's where the family was.

I don’t think Faircloth is a bad coach.  He’s a great offensive coach and puts up points.  It’s the manner in which he loses, and in many cases wins.  A win is always good, but having to score 72 because you give up 69, isn’t a recipe for success.

Its clear he wants to win with offense, and Burnett placed way more emphasis on defense when he coached.

PNG hasn't had a big tough DLine in years. It all Starts up front.

The QB Burnettes last year was Harrison Tatum with Doty as QB backup but most of that team was starters under Burnette! Deron, Harmon, Segura, etc was all from Burnette! I can promise you most of these kids were taught to tackle they would go head to head in practice they didn’t use tackling dummies! I understand about concussion concerns but apparently tackling dummies in practice isn’t cutting it! That team still had Lefort Segura Armand and a few more on coaching staff those years! Mike Arnaud is one of the best defensive coaches we could have on defense!

As I said that deffense had Burnetts fingerprints, but Doty was a result of Faircloth not Burnett and if you argue otherwise you're just a BF hater. Faircloth took Burnetts "kids" that won 3 games and went 11-1...end of discussion. Burnett had Lunceford, Schexneider and Doty on the varsity bench as Sophomores. Why do that?

YAWN! Only one or two teams have made it to the Regional round with all the people you named, SINCE 2003. They have been there twice since he got there. Unless you are satisfied with bi district wins and area losses.

    9 years before Faircloth(3 playoffs): 52-40 (3-3 in playoffs). 0 times to Rd 3

    9 years under Faircloth(8 playoffs): 72-33 (8-8 in playoffs). 3 times to Rd 3.

Doty wasn’t a result of Faircloth that whole 2009 football team was developed by Burnette and his coaching staff! Which you still had some of the burnette staff on board that year coaching as well!

Doty sat on the bench as a Sophomore under MB. Not on JV. On the bench on Varsity. Yes the defense under BF in 2009 still had the Burnett attitude, but that offense was all Faircloth.

PNG will be Dayton as they are now after Roschon leaves. Then you could both have the same problems and be happy

PNG wasn't "Dayton" before Shug and won't be Dayton after Shug.

Folks forget, Doty-Harmon, Doty-Bertrand, Miller-Bertrand, Morse-Halfin all before Shug. Shug is the first real dual threat at PNG, but those forementioned combos along with WR's like, Deron, Jalali, Nelson, Rose, Sparks, Giblin, Sullivan, Mczeal and now Riggs all had great runs at PNG under BF. He helped all of those young men to be successful as HS players.

PNG needs DLine help, plain and simple.

Gimme a break. I can assure you if RJ doesn’t have to come out of the game those 3 false starts IN A ROW don’t happen. The center sure was fine BEFORE RJ went out. I think all their buttholes tighten up when RJ is not in the game. So don’t give me that crap that it had nothing to do with RJ not being on the field. You know better.

There were illegal snap penalties and poor snaps all night from the new Center, not just when Shug came out. Different Cadence causes issues at every level from peewee to the nfl doesn't mean if they lined up 60 times a game with a QB other than Shug it would happen every play.

  9. Happy. When you get into the playoffs you gotta matchup all 11 on both sides of the ball. Fact is in the later rounds we don't have the size and speed across the board to matchup. Saw it with a gritty Nederland team last week that gave every ounce of what they had, but just couldn't matchup 11 on 11 all night. And one star athlete wouldn't have made the difference for them in that game.

Not saying our boys can't win a few of those, but it's extremely difficult to win 4 of those in a row.

    Burnett 5-10

    Fairclothe 2-7

That was one on the reasons MB was asked to step down. Led by a school board member that lost his position last week, ironically to a MB assistant who coached with BF before being let go....

Um MB teams went to the playoffs 3 times total in the 10 years after 1999. Thats another reason he was asked to step down. It was time.

For his failures against Nederland, BF has led PNG into the playoffs usually as either DC or runner up in now 8 out of 9 seasons.  Only one lossing season and only one season with less than 7 wins.

Get over it folks. 8-1 DC great season. Beat the coogs!

  11. 2009 better overall team. Still had the MB defensive toughness and a mean running game and Doty was an excellent QB. Sans Brenham I believe that Team could've played for a State Title.

This team lacks that punch up front on O and the D is young and still finding it's way. Still good enough to beat Ned though and make some noise in the playoffs.

    Shug to Riggs is explosive!
