Was wondering about this as well..........
There's no need to wonder, the NCAA rules are very specific about what technology is and is not allowed...

I've seen coaches run gassers before....I know at one school kids run gassers for every unsportsmanlike penalty....staff got a flag for sideline infaction and the whole staff ran

The coaches booth is magical though.
It is...Jim Bob in the bleachers yelling at Coach to call the touchdown play while live-streaming the game to Auntie Blanche over in Chester isn't making in-game adjustments or personnel decisions etc...but a Coach in the booth absolutely could...therefore potentially impacting the game

Except in the press box where they took the pictures against PNG. OK now I see the logic!
You've got it...they didn't take pics of game action therefore no rules violated....

Are scouting teams allowed to video? Or do they have to get video from opponents like in past?
What’s to keep one team from cheating via video during game to help another team that benefits them?
No scouting teams are not allowed to video....what keeps them from doing it is scouts are generally placed in a public area and would get called out on it real quick
-
You can have cell phones in the pressbox and coaching booth; you just can't be up there taking video and reviewing it real time....yes there are others who I am sure violate the rules, but is that really an excuse?
This isn't the first time a team has had to forfeit games for this and it won't be the last....

So someone else had electronics in the booth as well. Gotcha.
Coulda been a pressbox worker, coulda been a band parent coming up to announce at halftime....coulda been a media member.no rules against them having tecnhnology.....just remember someone is always watching

Man, ya'll acting like PNG stole millions of dollars or something. The middle school B team defensive guy up in the booth doing stats wouldn't know what to tell BF if he was wearing a Crosby headset.
Shug making them boys his bisnotches won the game, not Cletus up in the booth.
Rules are rules....teams have been pulled off the bus on the way to the state title game because of less...it happens...

PNG can still appeal if they want to Austin....but also keep in mind if they appeal it could potentially dig up other stuff (if in fact this wasn't the first time).....but if they believe they didn't do anything wrong and want to clear their reputation that is an option as well

AggiesAreWe we must have seen the same photos lol
The photos I saw were pretty clear evidence IMO

Which is the same spot they started the day in.
No....when the day started and even if they beat Nederland the best they could finish was 4-3 but they'd need Santa Fe to lose out to get in.....now Crosby is in total control of their destiny....so its a quite different
-
Yes that's the thing....Crosby loses to Nederland and they no longer control their own destiny...they have to rely on help and need a lot of things to happen to get in.....
-
NCAA rules are very specific about when you can and can't review video...and the pressbox is one place you cant...
-
Crosby still has to beat Nederland; if they lose to Nederland they are back to 3 losses and the only way they can get into a positive tiebreaker scenario is if PNG loses both of their last 2 games....which is possible but IMO unlikely....if Crosby is 4-3 they need PNG involved because they lost H2H to Santa Fe and Barbers Hill
-
From what I was told the evidence was brought forth and Vidor made the motion to consider the forfeit; but the game in question was vs Crosby hence why Crosby did not vote...obviously PNG didn't vote either not sure why Barbers Hill didn't vote...the 2 votes the other way were Nederland and Baytown Lee
-
This doesn't impact things much UNLESS Crosby beats Nederland this week.....

I've confirmed it on my twitter...spoke to the DEC chair directly

The city of Arlington owns AT&T but Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are the operators of the stadium thus making negotiations much easier and more direct for the UIL...
As for Dallas people not driving to Houston...I think the bigger problem when the games were in Houston were Houston people didnt drive to Houston to see the games....a good portion of attendance at AT&T Stadium are locals who just make it an event to go there for playoff games etc.
I do believe the games should be rotated, but I did a study over the past seven years (when the single site title games got started and if you take the average mileage from the schools participating thus far from each of the 3 stadiums AT&T is by far the most central locale (note I didnt include six man).....those numbers don't like and backup what the UIL says
