I'm guessing Memorial requsted the earlier time so they would not be driving home so late
-
For me when I am doing the poll I generally won't move teams down for winning...so sometimes if a lot of teams in front of you lose you might move up...but if everyone in front of you wins you may stay the same...i just try to be consistent with my formula....

game is now slated for 2pm next Saturday in Alice
-
I'll be there for both games!

Some of my favorite 3A Stadiums are
Sweetwater
Brownwood
Abilene Wylie
Gladewater
Paris (new one is nice)
Multi-School ISD's with 3A schools that have nice stadiums
North Forney
Frisco (Pizza Hut Park)
Dallas ISD (Kincaide Stadium) -
I think Dayton and Brenham will be fighting out for the Region 3 crown again
-
I also dont believe it will be back
-
In addition to seeing the double header in Beaumont on Oct. 30 I'm also going to be seeing the Alice-Pt Arthur Memorial game on Sept. 11 in Alice....should be a fun game...heard Alice packs the house and they are a decent 4A team
-
Allen's stadium is not open yet, but it'll be insane
My top 3
Grande Communications Stadium in Midland
Round Rock ISD Athletic Complex
CH Collins Athletic Complex in Denton -
I tend to try and find the positive in things because the UIL isn't changing...its all about money...more playoff games =more revenue....so look at the bright side of things...

Here's statewide 3A
In all honesty who cares that more teams make the playoffs? The bad teams get weeded out in the first round anyway and it makes potential for more big games -
Here is 4A

4000-2200 is less than the minimum desired ratio of 2:1....there's very few schools w/enrollments of over 4000 (less than 10 I think) so it does reduce the enrollment disparity somewhat....
-
Yeah I had to adjust by 2 schools and that put Dayton in 5A..#'s may move by 2-3 schools as I work through each class

Here's 5A -
Here's Class 6A

Yes a ton can happen..its just kind of a fun working model for us....DCTF did just 6A but realignment is something you can't do one class or one area...its a domino type affect statewide where you gotta break it all down
-
I just finished my mock alignment...here's my cut offs
Class 6A 2255-Up 202 schools
Class 5A 1435-2254 199 schools
Class 4A 715-1434 173 schools
Class 3A 345-714 163 schools
Class 2A Div. 1 261-344 85 schools
Class 2A Div. 2 195-260 87 schools
Class A Div. 1 149-194 77 schools
Class A Div. 2 100-148.5 79 schools
Mind you I included the 17 new football playing schools for 2012 realignment as well to make it a more realistic projection of what we'll see in 2012. Division 1/Division 2 will stay...you can't take 4 teams to the playoffs and have just one Division.....season would go past Christmas...I believe this will happen in 2012...also look for an interesting first round twist w/the district champions... -
LOL wow I haven't heard an American Me reference in quite sometime..
It's the Saturday game against Channelview but I think thats Oct 30 at least according to the Enterprise -
I am heading down to Beaumont in October to check it out....cant wait

Anything is possible.

Rey I am talking about high school football in Texas at the 5A level. The difference between 20 and 48 is minimal....check out Padilla Poll or Jerry's ratings and you'll see that kind of split when dealing with teams of that ilk.
As for names, typos etc...it happens, sometimes coaches handwritting just isn't real good. I had several typos on team capsules I wrote because I couldn't read the coaches chicken scratch LOL -
I've said I think 48 is a little low for WB....not as low as being made out to be but yes it's low. I'd probably have WB as a team in the high 20s to start the season if I did my own top 50....but the difference between #48 and #20 in Texas HS Football is very very small....a team ranked 20th in the state in pretty much any poll would be a 3-4 point favorite over the #48 team in the state. That's basically a pick em game. It's quite all right to diagree with the ranking, but regardless if we do get that ranking wrong I don't think it takes away from the fact that the magazine is a good source of information.

As for the overall quality of the magazine I am very proud of what a very small team of writers was able to accomplish, despite many, many challenges. Writers not turning in work timely or at all, scrambling to find quality people to write capsules etc. Considering that the majority of our crew works full time jobs not involving HS Football, considering we were all a bunch of rookies and considering we were still able to complete a product comparable to DCTF in a lot of ways in our first try is IMO a minor miracle. I think next year's edition will be even better and in subsequent years the product will continue to get better and better and if it doesn't then we shouldn't be doing one in the first place.
Any Media Types Ever Dealt With Beaumont ISD??
