  1. I just looked at the THSPA website for the last 2 seasons and couldn't a find a boy's name associated with Warren. Places like Warren need powerlifting to be able to try and get their kids competitive and to try and build something on the boy's side that has some success. They could also use that on the girl's side as well. I hope they're able to find a person that will buy in and help to overcome the inadequacies of genetics and apathy. When you've got a gene pool that can't compete as they get off the bus you've got to have heart and work ethic and when you have a track record of what Warren does it tends to show the kids aren't getting the foundational base they need to be able to overcome their lack of athleticism (that comes from home). In a lot of ways, at least in football, I see Warren a lot like Huntington. They never made the play-offs and the 1st 2 years they did all they did is have kids complain about having to be in football for another week.
  2. That Barbay is the receivers coach at Central Michigan.
  3. The main problem with all of this is Warren opening this late. Even if there was a change in a "reasonable" time table it was going to be hard to find someone with a proven track record that would want to come in and try to get something going but with it now being June 1st good luck. Whoever ends up getting there, the community AND admin needs to understand realistic expectations and what Warren in is.
  4. There's another Lance Dale that I know of that coaches in Cy Ranch. He's really the one I was in reference to.
  5. And I'll point to the fact that those schools have guys up front that can play as well. I'm just pointing out that just because a team has success in 7 on 7 it doesn't always translate into success on the field. You are also bringing up big schools that probably run their base offensive passing concepts in 7 on 7 which can be an extension for them. When was the last time Jasper or Newton lined up in the fall and threw the ball 25 plus times and had success? That means they're most likely running something they won't even put in for the season. Again, it's a great way to get kids competing throughout the summer but when fans base what the success of their program is going to be solely on 7 on 7 it's ridiculous. I've never seen coaches get contracts extended based off 7 on 7 success but I've seen them "reassigned" in a heartbeat for getting their teeth kicked in during the fall.
  6. I thought it's always on or around October 15th every year.
  7. He's too big time for this. He's a Splendora kinda guy.
  8. Last I heard he was at one of the Cypress schools as o-line coach. I know he was at Bellville before Tarkington and Bellville's been winning way before he got there and has still been winning since he left. I'm not knocking Stan but let's look at what's really going on at the places he's been. Tarkington did to him what they do to just about every AD. One or 2 people with "authority" want something else because they think they can do and get better.
  9. I've never seen anyone that was let go from a place continually show up the way Stan has to Tarkington events so I would say, yes, I agree with that. As far as record it wasn't that long ago they beat Mexia in the playoffs but they had a few cats that could roll. They typically don't have those kinds of kids.
  10. I just did a district wide staff search on their district page and there is no Keel showing up.
  11. My question is how long high-stepping and twirling the purple towel is going to last in Humble.
  12. I'm going to say the number one issue in Tarkington is the people of the Prairie then the things you speak of. The only people that are more entitled than the community there is the community in Splendora.
  13. I get that, but if you don't have the guys up front then 7 on 7 being a gauge for success is a moot point.
  14. 7 on 7 has to be the most overrated gauge to what teams are able to accomplish going into a season or to show what they've done in the off season. It's good for competition, don't get me wrong, but isn't there a group of Hornets that won the 7 on 7 state championship but was lucky to win 4 games the next year?
  15. That's one of the darkest football stadiums I've ever seen. I remember playing on the Prairie in the late 90s and early 2000s and thinking the field was a POS. I think the only thing they've fixed was more clover on the field to try and fix the pot holes.
  16. My sources say that if 7 on 7 is any indication of what's to come it might be an uphill battle.
  17. Interesting. I know the supt reached out to get him from PAM. I wonder what direction they're going to go?
  18. It's a shame there's not a certain BC alum that's not still in the area. He'd make a great addition to WH.
  19. I've been to a handful of DFW track meets this year and I can tell you the only male coaches I ran into that weren't tied to football were the distance guys and the retired coaches that did pole vault. I may have been on the wrong side of the DFW to witness that which you speak of.
  20. So you went with Buchanan and Surratt (check the spelling btw)? That's interesting you'd bring those guys up in conversation. Let me bring some other "big names" up and you tell me if they've won outside of the places that weren't already winning. I'll even give you the schools they've been recently at. Tom Westerburg (Barbers Hill via Allen) Todd Dodge (SLC, College, Marble Falls, Westlake) Rusty Nail (Mart [which is still winning state championships], Madisonville) Don Willis (Won several state championships in Oklahoma, Garland Lake View Centennial) Mike Spradlin (Temple, AD Magnolia, Rockwall Heath) I'll even give you this one. Michael Wall won state championships at Lake Travis and Temple as the offensive coordinator and he's the head coach at Willis right now. He was even on staff at Lake Travis when they won the 1st state championship and he'll tell you (as well as the other guys on that staff) that it was the senior class that year that changed the dynamic of the culture there. Look his record up at Willis and please tell me it's solely on coaching. They got rid of a guy that somewhat kept Willis competitive to hire Wall too. By your logic, or at least the things you're posting, winning is on coaching. Why do you think the NFL and other professional sports leagues have "tanking" years? They reinvest in their talent levels. If it didn't come down to Jimmys and Joes why in the world do NFL executives make the comments they do about infusing their rosters with talent? Sounds to me like someone needs to get into administration at Summer Creek so that they can be involved with the hiring and firing process.
  21. I've only watched one of their games so I'm not going to say yes or no. I know who they play against and have watched those clubs. I've also witnessed schools that have had really good track programs not win in football and those kids are playing football too. There was a stretch in the late 90s/early 00s that Madisonville was sending kids to the state track meet left and right but couldn't get out of the 1st round of the playoffs. All I'm pointing out is it takes more than just a fast track kid or two to make teams successful. If that was the case, why aren't the Pflugerville schools and Elgin not winning more?
  22. And just because you have speed it doesn't mean you have the other pieces that go to the puzzle. You've got to have the kids up front to be able to open things up or shut things down and I don't think they do especially for what they're going against in their district.
  23. I would also take a look at the districts that those teams are in. I'd also look at location as far as football goes to look at success. I'm not taking away from the success those programs have had, but look at the road they've got to travel through the play-offs compared to some other schools like Summer Creek.
