  1. In a lot of places when you shell the money out to "bring in a known winner" it's really just polishing a turd. Parents still don't accept the fact that their gene pool has a bigger play in wins and losses. I completely understand the whole mindset though. It's the shiny new object that's going to solve everyone's problems and it bothers me that people are that gullible to think one person will be the catalyst for change. To me when people take that mindset it's no different than these "select" ball parents shelling out thousands of dollars a year to win a "world series" or those that spend money on private trainers to make JR a college athlete..."I paid the money and expect immediate and long term success!"
  2. And where will BH go next? It seems to me the community has loftier expectations in football than what reality dictates.
  3. I think Ken's a pretty good hire especially for this time of year. The only issue I see is him getting coaches in with what they pay stipend wise. I know Rowe was able to bring in assistants but the stipends Livingston has (had) could also persuade people there. I hope he gets time to work there.
  4. In the past the principal would pull coaches from practices for staff meetings and PLCs. I don't think the current principal does that (I could be wrong). They typically have big lineman type of kids but very little speed. For some reason they want all of Conroe ISD to be in the gun. When Coach V was there he kept a lot of the scores respectable because he would grind on the clock. Sven wasn't a bad coach, but his record is reflective of the talent they've had there. The kids and community are so eat up with a loser's mindset it's frustrating for any coach there. There's a highly mobile student population that like to bounce back and forth between Caney Creek and Willis when parents and kids don't get their way. On the positive whoever gets the job will be paid 6 figures and get a new truck.
  5. I doubt they give Orangefield and Buna a run for their money. This is not meant to offend the kids at Hardin or the coaches but it is what it is. Anahuac will be a toss up and if Kirbyville gets anything positive going for them they'll beat Hardin.
  6. I'll go a step further. Where is the accountability at home coming from?
  7. What do you mean you guess? Y'all throw it around more than anyone I've seen at that classification in SE Texas. Also, how do you know how a kid has more yardage than others in the area? Just an assumption or do you look these things up? What area are you talking about? I wish you luck tomorrow but it seems like you just talk to talk...or type to type...
  8. hornetsdad, I just looked up your coaching staff. With as much as y'all throw the football is there even really a need for a tight ends coach?
  9. I'm going to agree with you. I think Haynes does a good job with the kids. It's tough being one of the smaller schools in your classification.
  10. Listen, unwad your panties and relax. It almost sounds like you coach there. Coach Haynes calls some great 7 on 7 plays and sometimes they connect and sometimes they don't. I'd personally like to see them pound more with their bigger back but that's just me. Hardin is the only place I've ever seen that has a banner for a 7 on 7 state championship with all the other UIL sport accolades and where the head coach brags about taking teams to the state 7 on 7 championships. They should beat the snot out of Warren. I think, however, it's going to be a different story whenever they start to play tackle football teams like Orangefield and East Chambers.
  11. That's if they haven't already put up the shoulder pads and started working on basketball.
  12. I'm glad Huffman was more polished again. Good job Falcons.
  13. I'm glad Huffman Finally got back to looking more polished. It's gotta be tough for fans to see what could have been in scrimmages not come to fruition until HISD.
  14. No doubt. That's a lot tougher district.
  15. Now I gotcha. You're right that would be the 2nd round. That's what I get when I try to read.
  16. When I looked it up I appeared that they'd match up with 12 4A (Navasota, Stafford, and a crap ton of HISD schools), but I've been known to be wrong.
  17. I understand where you're coming from, but we talk about "districts of doom" all the time; why not the other? You've got several programs who have outstanding kids, coaches, and communities and the fact of the matter is they're not typically good in football. Sometimes it is what it is. I'll give you this though; if you can finish in the top 2 you'll probably be playing a 2nd round play-off game. If you finish 3rd or 4th it will most likely be one and done.
  18. I'd be interested to see if they have an athletic period. I know these schools are for the "intellectually driven" but who knows. I have a friend whose niece goes to a charter and they really encourage fine arts over athletics or ag. Thanks for the reply and good luck this week.
  19. How many of these KIPP Schools are there? I think the new Conroe School murdered one of them? Aren't they college prep schools? Aren't they Houston ISD?
  20. I can't wait to watch some of the toothless dog fights that are going to happen during these games. I've got my popcorn ready.
  21. The unfortunate thing for Caney Creek is what athletes they did have were zoned for Oak Ridge whenever Conroe ISD opened Oak Ridge. They actually have a pretty good coaching staff who cares about the kids but their kids struggle. Vidor should beat them.
  22. Do you mean routing or rooting for the Bobcats?
  23. This, sir, is where I think you're wrong. The slot t (like the other run based offenses) is very balanced indeed! They're balanced in the aspect of being able to attack multiple gaps out of limited formations and repetitive backfield looks. I hope BC's OC understands that more than fans in the stands.
