  1. Ask any coach and they will tell you the obligation is to first give his team the best chance to win.  Because if they don't win the community will run him off.

come on its a highschool football game...its not like this is the st. louis rams playing out there where they always play in a dome at home and the players have been specifially drafted for that type of surface...these kids have only played football outdoors, i dont buy the excuse that indoors gives x team an advantage over y team...they are both outdoor squads and they'd have to play in the same elements for both sides..if they want to come out and say, i want my kids to play somehwere cool where a lot of the players on the team wont get a shot at playing again then ill buy that...

the coaches do have the 1st obligation toward their team and winning, thats what they are paid to do, but the if the coach makes it to the state championship game and loses he wont get fired...its a makable drive for dayton fans if they want to pony up the money for a hotel room as well, but for sulphur spring fans i'd be pretty upset, thats a long ways to travel for a game...hopefully plenty of fans will be able to make the drive to the game....

  2. coaches have no obligation to the fans, just their team.  Both feel playing inside gives their team a better chance to win.

thats weak matthew, texas football is a community sport...the town pays that coaches salary so i'd argue he does have a pretty big obligation to the community...

reguardless, it doesnt matter the spot is picked...i hope i can figure out a way to go

  3. in Liberty we had about 6-8 inches of snow in the yard when i got up to go to work this morning (around 6:30)....on my way to work Liberty to Baytown everything but the roads (thank god) were covered with about 6 inches of snow atleast...it was pretty cool to see...only one wreck that i ran across on the trinity river bridge on 90, some guy had spun out and hit the concrete barrier...no one else was involved and the guy looked fine...

on a side note, glad i dont live in houston itself, it took most people until after lunch to get to baytown for work out here since every major highway was closed cause of a bridge or a wreck to get here..

  4. Its not about how many yards you have its all about who has one more point then the other..

BTW the winning streak, they play in a weak district thats why they lose when the playoffs come.

their winning streak was cause of their old district and 21-5a wasn't as good this year as it has been in the past....the last time they lost they were in the baytown/beaumont area district then they moved to the pasadena area district for 6 of their 8 years in their streak and dominated (streak started when they were in the baytown/beaumont district, i think it was 22-5a back then for 1 year, then 6 in pasadena area, now 1 back in 21-5a)....if 21-5a can go back to its old strength then north shore will lose its streak, but whose to say they dont put them back down in the pasadena district after next year?...

  5. they are ranked 6 in the state so they are pretty good...of the playoff projections i have seen most have the winner of a potential future matchup between pearland/north shore going on to the state championship game....judging from how sterling played pearland and how they played north shore i'd think north shore is the better team, but football doesnt always follow the transitive property....

  6. My bad.  I was thinking Channelview won their first game.    ??? ???

yah...it shocked me they were so bad too...Dobie ended up 3-4 in that district, so did Pasadena Memorial and South Houston...if Pasadena Memorial = South Houston then yall will roll, Sterling beat South Houston 36-0 and it wasnt even that close...

That said I dont think Memorial will be equal to South Houston...That Snelson kid was very impressive last year against Lee, i imagine he is only better...he will get his yards, the question is if yall can stop the rest of their team...i'd guess yes but apparantly Panama is convinced otherwise and he saw them, maybe they had some kids hurt earlier in the year or something, i dunno...

  7. Hope Sterling can pull off a miracle here, but I don't think it's in the cards.  In fact, I think only North Shore will advance to the second round from this district.

I will be pulling for all of the district teams though.

WHOA! :o You really think Pasadena Memorial can beat WB? I mean, with their non-existant defense? I think our boys have something to prove after the NS game!

I was thinking the same thing.  I guess Panama has seen everyone play, but I don't see Pasadena beating Brook.

last year they had a really, really fast running back when they played Lee and i think he was a junior then......i think they will score a good bit but i dunno about win, maybe panama seen something if he saw them play this year, all i have to go on is last year....

  8. :o you should go see Sterling.

wish i could but i got the football game tickets for me and my dad (50 a piece) and then me, my mom, and him are goitn to watch baylor basketball that night (15 a piece) well in advance of Sterling clinching the playoffs...not to mention hotel reservations, too much money to eat to go see what will prolly be a blow out....Minyard apparantly did a great job this year after losing a lot of players and all, it appears he has Sterling on the road of being a consistant program, hopefully a consistantly good program, im betting my money on Sterling seeing the playoffs again w/n the next couple of years...i'll definitely make the next one...

  9. The Sterling/Channelview game shouldnt have been near that close, I have never seen a team w/ the luck of Channelview in that first half....They couldnt move the ball on first and second down, but on 3rd they just lobbed the ball and kept making some crazy catches, it was unreal at times...through all of that Sterling looked like they were gonna take over in the 2nd half come halftime but for whatever reason their offense went out the window and they started turning the ball over...Channelview was driving to take the lead in the 4th quarter when the big fumble recovery for a TD iced the game, the defense came to play the 2nd half i dunno where the offense went...

on a sidenote Channelview should be embarassed not at the play or athletes on their team but at the fact that they only had 29 kids on a 5a high school team (i counted before the game i was so shocked, i kept waiting for more to come out of the locker room)...29 channelview? are you kididng me???? i go regularly to liberty games as well and i have never seen a 3a team with less than 30 kids...i dont know how that is possible, maybe some failed but even then they couldnt have more than 35-40...they have a lot of work to do in promoting the football program in channelview apparantly, which is sad since we do live in Texas....
