  1. ESPN shows every game of the college world series every year??? They also show several regional games and most if not all of the super regional games...

College baseball hasnt picked up because it is a Southern and West Coast dominated sport....the yankees in the northeast dont care or try at it and they pretty much control what is on tv...it'd pick up a better following if you could watch it but you really cant except for the occasional game on foxsports and one of the fox college sports channels that you have to pay extra to get...

  2. if SE Texas counts south of lufkin and east of 59 then I'd say Drew Tate of Baytown Lee would have to be in the argument for best SETexas highschool quarterback...he pretty much set every passing record in the Texas High School books at the time he was there 1999-2003....he also started for 2 years at Iowa I believe, maybe 3...

  3. i cant imagine it could be for more money...how could this make texas high school football more profitable? that seems impossible...since this is across all sports you can ask the same question and put sports in the question instead of football...maybe im just blinded by something but it doesnt seem like a way to make more money....

on getting private schools to no recruit...this would be an impossiblity based on the simple fact that private schools have to recruit to survive...every student that is at their school is the result of some form of recruiting whether they are an athlete or not....

  4. i like it for 5a...the other classifications im not too sold on but if they make it to where only 2 teams from each district make the playoffs then im a fan....

Thats gonna stink,  why not 3 teams again

i think its too many, but that is my opinion...i know some 3rd place teams have done well in the playoffs but since they are making less teams in each classification now i think 2 teams from each district is kinda equal to 3 before...

  5. the baylor seniors have a lot of heart...they were the first recruiting class after the scandel and i guess they have decided they dont want to end their season yet...they are definitely in the NIT, but i think they are shooting for NCAA, what a story that would be...gotta get through the Horns first though, it'll be tuff...sic'em!

  6. come on?? do you really think a one team playoff would benefit anyone?  I agree I like the three team setup because it gives small schools in the district something to shot for.  I think there is no fair way to divide the teams into districts evenly without greating a huge number of districts and only having a few teams in each district.  I think they have created a pretty good system of grouping the teams into districts based on enrollment numbers and distance.  They came up with the three team advancing to offset the difference in enrollement numbers.  What is wrong with a team that has half the enrollment numbers of most of the teams in their district making the playoffs?  Like it was said earlier they are usually weeded out the first round anyway?  The UIL makes more revenue off the extra games, the school districts make more money, the kids get to play more football, and we get to watch more football!  I dont see any down side to this setup?  The only person or team I could see that dont benefit from this is the teams that are usually the dominate team in a region and just want to hurry up and get to the final rounds or have coaches that are worried about playing the extra game and getting someone hurt that they might need later.  If I am describing you then I have a message for you,,, who cares?  That is not what texas high school football is about.

it was just my opinion, i said the 3 team system is "ok" for me...and im definitely not the type your talking about...i went to baytown sterling and we made it as the 3rd team this year for the first time since 1985...and u like the playoffs for the reasons i said having 4 teams in would bea good reason...its just u have a difference from the old school people who were used to the playoffs being a reward for a good year, now if you have a pulse you can pretty much go and in some districts you dont even need that...only one team making it would be a bit drastic, probably 2 would be the best system to ME, mainly because there are districts w/ a lot of schools in it....3 is a little too much but managable, 4 just seems ridiculous to me, esp. when u have some 6 team districts....

  7. PA MEMORIAL is a North Shore waiting to happen, I know Memorial has 200lb fullbacks on campass and a 6'4"tight end somewhere, and defense should never be a weakness. They may not win state titles every year but they should go 3 or 4 rounds deep every year with the right head coach...

PAM will never be North Shore. The reason why NS has so many athletes is because they have 4200 students. That's twice as many as PAM has to choose from. PAM can and should be a regular playoff team and have an occassional deep playoff run with the right coach no doubt, but the numbers will hurt them from being a yearly top 10.

I agree with SFA on this one. Suggs!

Galena Park ISD has 2 schools....one of which is not good at football and is a 4a school Galena Park, and another which is 5a and is normally a State Contender North Shore...you do the math, but im guessing their pool is even bigger than 4200....

i have no dog in this coachign discussion (other than i went to Sterling so i dont really want yall beating us again lol)...but PAM has the talent to consistantly go a couple rounds in the playoffs every year and make a State Title run maybe every 5-10 years...

  8. i think you should reward the teams that had a good season with the playoffs, not a mediocre season...when u allow 4 teams to go and teams show up w/ losing records thats ridiculous...3 i can see an argument for, but the problem is if you make it universal most districts dont really have 3 playoff worthy teams...the way we are doing it now is "ok" to me, because by the 3rd round of the playoffs the teams that shouldnt be there are weeded out, but the problem is teams are awarded for mediocrity in the new system...if we are teaching kids about life w/ football then they shouldnt be awarded for mediocrity however if we are just using it as a platform to have fun and learn to play w/n a team environment then 4 teams are fine, the more games you play the more fun u have and the more team experience you get....obviously the UIL has decided its the later (plus they like the extra revenue but im leaving that outa this) and i can live w/ that, but my personal preference would to go back to putting 2 teams in, maybe even just one...

  9. i dunno skipper....hopefully they would still play if lee became 4a, but there were rumors in the past that they wouldnt when they thought lee was going to be 4a in this alignment...it would be a shame if they ended that rivalry, its one of the better ones esp. if both teams are having decent years...the problem with keeping it going would be if lee became 4a then who knows how many district games they would have and sterling too...with some of these crazy districts nowdays it might not be possible to schedule a non-district game between the 2....basically, if lee goes 4a then i could see the end of the sterling/lee rivalry coming, if not immediately i think it eventually would peter out (like dayton/liberty)....
