because the earlier update said 28-21 meaning splendora wouldve had to have lost points for her to be right...looks like we got a final now anyway...

Yes but their prob last year was no defense....the offense could score but they allowed like 40 points a game....looks like the new coach has switched the problem around...hopefully he gets the offense fixed

maybe sterling is starting to get over the learning curve of running their new offense...it is a hard and different offense for any defense to stop....at least im hoping that is what it is, cause up til now it has been pretty ugly for them...

No comment on that one but alot of bad BLOOD between these two teams. Coach Stewart pulled that on us when he was the head coach. Don Price wrote the book on crap like that and no class when he was at BH. Ok thouh bc getting it handed back to him at HF.  8)

guess im too far removed to know the story (though i do remember BH doing that back in the day)...just seemed odd since they were only up 2 scores at the time...i wouldn't have made that call if i was the coach, but maybe thats why im sitting at home on a friday  night...

thanks...i grew up in liberty (til 8th grade) and still have family there...i went to baytown sterling for high school though and baylor for college so i think i have been humbled enough that im not quick as cocky as some of these guys...

yup...looks like the Liberty guys won't have much smack to talk this week, Huffman just got a first down so they can eat up some more clock and Liberty will start using timeout...that said the Panthers are getting better so it will be fun to see what they can do the rest of the year and in the next couple years...

got the star wars on blu-ray...was watching empire strikes back...gonna start up return of the jedi to finish them up in a bit...heading up to waco tomorrow for the baylor game so no game tonight (got give the fiancee a little break, luckily she likes star wars just as much as football)

honestly, i think the lack of execution on offense really stems from the fact that they don't have a quarterback that knows how to run the offense correctly...this offense is supposed to be an equalizer for teams that have a smaller offensive line and less talent...it is a misdirection type thing, actually similar to the spread but you hand it off and toss instead of throw the ball...but the QBs had no experience in it prior to this year and its killing them, they either make a bad read or time after time after time hold the ball too long and wait too long to make a decision (which means they get clobbered and fumble because the o-line is up the field making blocks on the secondary like they are supposed to)...the good thing is the 2 new QBs they are using are sophomores (or so i over heard at the stadium) so they should learn, but the bad thing is that will take plenty of time for them to do...

one thing though, the one quarterback that is tiny (probably 5'5" 140 lbs or something like that) needs to be in JV, but not because of play but because of size...im honestly afraid for that kid when we get in district...it is just going to take one play where they hold the ball too long and a monster DT is going to crush him....i guess we don't have anyone else to put out there and the kid has shown some good instincts on some plays, but i think they need to let the kid grow a little more and put him back there next year...

anyway, just my opinion from one of the rare RSS alums that goes and watches their games with no other attachment to RSS other than i graduated there...

Sterling's coach needs to do something...this isn't 1960 where the kids will stay at your school and you get 4 years to mold them if his teams keep doing this he will start bleeding athletes...he is absolutely wasting Gibson and it is sad casue that kid should have an opportunity to play on saturdays at a good school...i have never seen a team run the triple option attack this bad, i know it is his first year but good lord it is almost comical how bad they are at it...the amazing thing is the defense is actually a lot better than last year (though, it was so bad im not sure that is hard to do) but the offense is giving up just as many points as the defense is it seems...

Liberty score was 42-7 not 45-7...

42-7 final....liberty finally allowed the first score against them for the year with 3:46 left in the 4th

dont think RSS is thinking playoffs, they are just trying not to go 0-10 for the first time in their history (somehow they have managed to avoid that with many 1-9 seasons)...according to the chronicle they only had 140 yards or so on offense and 60 something on one pass play to gibson for a TD...im sorry but 140 yards on South Houston is unacceptable for any offense no matter what scheme you have changed to...i think the coach for Sterling may be in over his head right now...hopefully things work out for him in the long run...

people might as well forget hoping that sterling switch back to spread...the one characteristic of coaches that run this offense is they are consistant and stubborn...WHEN it works it is almost unstoppable...but like i said Sterling knew what they were getting when they got this guy, it isn't like he hid what he had before...they made an investment in this coach and if his style works then sterling will be fine, but it will take time as this offense is different than what any of these guys were running before...

also, with this offense always comes the crowd who hates it....until they start winning, of course...then the crowd will be ok with it...

for now its not like sterling can get any worse than they were before this guy came so they really have nothing to lose...there is something to say about running an offense that no other team sees normally before they play them...

i have grew up watching teams that run the offense sterling is running now...the coach is not going to throw the ball 10-15 times a game period, much less to one player...to run that offense the coach has to be hard headed because the whole theory is that if you do it enough you wear the other team down late and can put it away, if you start throwing early it doesnt work...it isn't like the guy was running a different offense at clear lake...sterling knew what they were getting so obviously they are willing to give the guy a shot (which means he should get 4 years at least to install his system with his players), but i always hated watching this offense when the QB shows some throwing ability and esp when there is a kid like Gibson to throw to...that said once the QB gets the offense down he will be good at it, he was holding the ball too long today and Lee was eating him up for it...they need a back like that kid they had playing QB/WR and kick returning last year who graduated, you get someone like that as a threat to pitch and the offense clicks well...

panama i think the talent problem is that in the 90s and early 00s all the talent was at Lee...there is the same amount of talent now but its actually spread evenly over the 3 schools which means it seems like there isn't a lot of talent at any of them...apparantly we have grown as a town yet the football talent has stayed about the same...
