  1. As far as enrollment growth goes, the six 21-5A schools that have reported so far are turning in an average enrollment of 1,878 students. The Baytown schools have grown a combined 869 students in two years.

Wow, I can tell by living here that the place is growing like crazy, but to see those numbers that is shocking. Getting too big for me though. I'm used to a smaller town....

  2. The Real head scratcher is How the Heck Baylor only drops 1 spot. Lamar clearly outplayed them an entire half at home. That meaningless TD shouldn't have saved them. I don't get a vote, but I did stay @ Holiday Inn.

It helped that Auburn was 6 and dropped after their game and Florida State played USF which was a 10 point game until the middle of the 4th quarter. They don't like to move teams that much in polls unless if something big happened. My Bears looked ugly winning the game, but they still won big. That said I wouldn't have complained if they stuck Florida State or USC over Baylor, they haven't looked good yet. Hopefully Baylor gets it together in the bye week. If they turn the ball over like they did against Lamar then Baylor will lose to the rest of the teams on their schedule minus Kansas maybe.

  3. I expect Michigan State to hop up into the top 4 somewhere (over my Bears and maybe TCU) if they beat Oregon. I don't know if Oregon will get into the top 4 if they win, but they may slide ahead of my Bears.

TCU lost a starting linebacker for the season and have lost their top defensive end for possibly the season (at least most of the season) after the first game. That is going to be tough on them as they were already starting a lot of young guys on defense and now 2 of their guys with the most experience are out.

  4. GCM, I was telling my wife I couldn't believe he didn't get a penalty for that. He was in the middle of the hashes inside the 5 yelling at him. That was an all around awkward play too and so late of a TD call I didn't blame him for being mad, but shocked there was no flag.

You could have waited a long time to park today as well. I was not informed we had to eat before the game until I got home from work from my wife. Needless to say we finally headed towarded the stadium at a quarter til 7 (from Bud's BBQ) and I didn't get in my seat til the 1st quarter was over (7:45 or so).

  5. As for the first part of the response, you obviously have never lived in the country where everybody knows and are related to everybody. It is impossible to do something when A. Everyone in a position of power could face criminal investigations or be fired if certain cases are prosecuted (sheriff's department, school board members, leaders of the community) and B. the county where the rapes take place is in the devil's triangle of media and for that reason no one gives two-cents what happens there. So your statement about do something is impossible there.

I grew up in Liberty. It is unfortunate nothing can be done as it may have led to a better resolution to this problem. 6 months jail and 10 years probation is too light in my opinion for rape. Luckily, I have never had to sit on one of those juries so I don't know what all goes into the sentencing part of that.

  6. Baylor athletics need to be a little more transparent with their suspensions.

The rest of your statement I know nothing about. If you say there are cases that aren't tried in that area, swept under the rug, and you live there then maybe you need to get out there and do something about it. I mean you can vote for judges, the DA, sheriffs, and all....

Your final comment I quoted, what do you want Baylor athletics to do? You want them to comment on their players legal situations so you get your news sooner? Pretty sure that is illegal and they will be slammed with violating privacy laws. Not to mention the judge put a gag order on this case which is the main reason very little was heard about this until the conviction happened the other day.

  7. IF the kid was deserving of a "second chance", then Boise St and Peterson should have given him one. I get the impression he was out of chancs.

By all accounts Peterson called Briles and told him about the kid. There was even an article when Uwacheku was suspended from Boise with Peterson saying he expected the kid to play for him the next fall before he transferred.

This is the hidden content, please

He wasn't kicked completely off of Boise's team. He was suspended from practice in the spring with the expectation he would be back. He would have had his second chance at Boise except Peterson and Uwacheku approached Baylor about a transfer on the grounds of him being depressed, homesick, and suicidal.
