A CATCH is the act of a fielder in getting secure possession in his hand or glove of a ball in flight and firmly holding it; providing he does not use his cap, protector, pocket or any other part of his uniform in getting possession. It is not a catch, however, if simultaneously or immediately following his contact with the ball, he collides with a player, or with a wall, or if he falls down, and as a result of such collision or falling, drops the ball. It is not a catch if a fielder touches a fly ball which then hits a member of the offensive team or an umpire and then is caught by another defensive player. If the fielder has made the catch and drops the ball while in the act of making a throw following the catch, the ball shall be adjudged to have been caught. In establishing the validity of the catch, the fielder shall hold the ball long enough to prove that he has complete control of the ball and that his release of the ball is voluntary and intentional.

Tomorrow will make my 45th straight state tournament attended. Started attending the state tourney in 1972 when I was 8 years old.
My goal is to make 50 in a row.
This will also be my 10th year as media. The EC and Silsbee game will be my 9th and 10th game broadcasted at state tourney. Hoping to do 11 and 12 this week.

I had a ball last night that was fair for 4 seconds then the wind blew it in foul ground, Guess I missed that one !!!!!!!

Everyone in the park knew it was a foul ball except for the 2 people that mattered most....... The 2 umpiring the game. Yes that's right they both said it was a fair ball.

If it happens in front of fielders, I believe the ball is dead.  Batter gets awarded first and runners move up if forced.  If it happens behind fielders, the ball is live and in play.  Mr. Ump may be able to help if this is not correct.

Unless rules of play have changed which is possible...
Believe that the fielder has to be able to make reasonable first chance play on the ball. Umpire even acknowledged the ball hit him in front of the fielder. Batter safe and FC was effected because of it.
Prob should have worded it differently.

Correct call was we should have awarded two bases from time of throw. Think we were all in shock and we just kept on playing. 

I will get an official ruling on this. I was the home plate umpire when this happened. After talking with both coaches, we all agree that 2 bases from the time of the pitch should have been awarded. Never seen a ball go out of play like this.   And it didn't go into the dugout it went OVER the dugout!!!  lol  Will get an official ruling. 

It's my understanding that getting a week 4 opponent is a much easier task than getting a week 5 or 6.

Scrimmages don't count toward anything. They are glorified practices

I have never heard that Les K got ran off. I played against that team in 75. He got ran off and just happened to land at Houston  Memorial? I think time has somehow warped that story. 

Head Coach Bryan Spell is up for the challenge. With a new coach I am sure we will see lots of changes. Wish him the Best of Luck in his new Era.

Are people really making Allen/BH comparisons? Lol that's ridiculous. Allen would be BH by 50 with or without Westerberg. This man has his reasons, so we can sit here and guess all we want about what those are, but I seriously doubt it's because of the quality of talent the Allen program has coming in lol wow. Smh.

Hell I want to chime in.. For all the naysayers, haters, and wanna bees... Just look at what team you represent... That more than likely means you were a loser... You cannot take away anything from WOS.. And yep, injuries are part of the game... End of discussion... Haters gonna hate.......... More than likely all of you were in the stands with the Celina fans... Spectating......... So far the haters, its all coulda, woulda, and shoulda.... At the end of the day everyone else is just a loser in the game....... And if you want to keep crying all WOS has to do is flip that middle finger up with that shiny ring on it... I wont name any names, but you so called experts are clueless... But i think it might be a little more jealousy, than ignorance... So from the PN-G folks, to the WO-S folks, it is what it is.... And you are the CHAMPS................... To the rest, keep crying, thats all you can do........ And like they say, records mean nothing...... SO you can be a legend in your own mind and have the best coaching staff in your own mind, come up with funny little slogans, and nicknames...... But at the end of the day........... When did Biff from Back to the Future get a job coaching at Celina??

At this point, all the poor game planners, teams with huge weaknesses and quitters are at home. Whether it's Celina or WOS who wins... the state champ is gonna have to play really well. Gonna be a great one. I stink at predictions, but I think the winner will be by less than 7. Go WOS!

I have never put much stock in the AP All State. It's based solely off regular season stats and most of the AP writers that vote are clueless.
