I think Kirbyville wins this game, but I would not be surprised to see OF come away with the victory.

Do I understand correctly that if Buna beats Hardin, Anahuac is eliminated from the playoffs?

Didn't most of us have Anahuac winning this district before the season began?  Yikes

The loss of last year's QB is clearly hurting Anahuac.

And will probably be 6A next go round.  The task will be continuing to move forward.  At one time, they were the only then 4A school that didn't play football.  It was right after Westside opened

They're expecting HISD schools to grow in enrollment? I thought they were a dying brand and people were fleeing to other districts?

You’re welcome to him and trust me Dayton knows about the green grass we’ve had 3 buddy buddy coaches in a row instead of the most qualified/ best fit and we’ve seen the results of those decisions. Just because you beat teams like Galena Park and Santa Fe (no offense to those teams) doesn’t mean you are “out of the crapper” either.

I do not know Ware, so I am not personally involved in this at all, but I think you guys are making a major mistake going this route. He has brought this program back from the trash heap it had been for many years prior to last. His only mistake was being a year or so ahead of schedule by winning last year and causing the fan base to expect immediate improvement from that new bar. He hasn't only invested in football, but has been adamant about program growth at every level. From AV, to culture, to expectations, and now he is becoming a victim of those same expectations. All I will say is, be careful what you wish for, because moving him along right in the middle of the ascent of this program could waste every bit of talent you all say is not being utilized properly.

Lol you are clueless, only reason Ware got the job was he is buddies with Nations. There were certainly a lot better qualified coaches applied. Lol just keep blaming the talent level. And your wrong,  I wish him and the broncos the best of luck and hope they make a deep run in the playoffs, but I will continue to make observations/ statements about him/ them whether it hurts you feelings or not. Saying he is the best coach in the last decade comparing him to the last 2 are not very impressive hahahaha

LOL!!! And this is how Dayton goes back into the crapper. Go ahead and start dragging him through the mud if you want to, but if you do not think he could pick up the phone and be needed elsewhere, you are sorely mistaken. He's building something there and if you are not careful, he could get sick of the BS leave the job unfinished.

It’s hard for your team to get fired up when the head coach tells them it’s a scrimmage. Meanwhile our old coach is apologizing to his new community for taking a non-district L.

No fire, no swagger, no anything. Practice is like a business meeting. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is Kevin Flannigan all over again. Outside of the MS athletic coordinator who came from North Shore we don’t have any coaches on the staff who came from winning program at this level or higher. The CEO style coaching works at a lot of places with a different type of kid. It’s just never been shown to work here. Coach Willis is a great dude but again, doesn’t always mean you’re the best fit.

Probably should've signed that NIL deal with Dayton in the offseason.

I disagree that the wheels are going to fall off and that its going to get worse as the season goes on. It's all relative of course, but the district games while tough for sure aren't as tough as their non-district games. They have a lot of talent, young for sure, but very talented. I'm choosing to believe they can put it together on the field. We shall see.

I guess I should temper what I said, I can also see a path where what you've said above becomes true, and I certainly hope you are more right than me.

I do take exception to one thing you've said though: I believe the Needville/Navasota/Columbus stretch Huffman is about to have won't be nearly as tough as the Lumberton/Vidor/LCM stretch that will happen to close out the district season considering that two of those three are on the road, and those three opponents outscored Huffman 145-57 last year. It also bears mentioning that the three coaches Huffman will be facing those weeks are named Reyes, Dubois and Peevey.

A lot to a little. There can be brighter days ahead for the Falcons, but I do not think this will be the year for those. They begin next year when this Sophomore group becomes Juniors. The Falcons have to get the athletes walking the halls back out in pads, and there has to be a full culture shift around the program. Football tends to be an afterthought in the community and the only way to fix that is to drum up excitement about being a Falcon. It can be done, but will take lots of work to build what needs to be built in Huffman. Do you disagree with that or see something I do not see?

At the peak, we had over 1200 folks online tonight here at SETXsports. (all time record is 1850) Good start to this football season!!

Thanks everyone for making this the place to be for high school football on Friday nights in Southeast Texas.

How many need to be on here regularly before we would be able to coax you out of retirement to run this thing again!!??

The scout film they sent over this week is 136 plays and they don't look great on any of that either. You also have to take into account that they played a 6A school over twice their size though. That was their first game out and they're trying to replace 80% of their offensive production from last year. Outside of the times when they had Malik Hornsby and JW Ketchum playing QB their offense has always looked unimpressive .  .  .  until you get on the field with them and understand why they have won 6 of the last 8 5A track and field state titles. FBM beats you with overall team speed and defense and their defense looks pretty solid.

Not that it matters this week but Klein probably would've won the game if not for that holding call in OT on 1st and goal from the 4 yard line. Klein can't throw the ball at all but was gashing FBM with the QB keeper. Klein's base formation is pretty similar to what Crosby runs now, what I'm hoping is that they defend us the same way and we capitalize on some of the big play opportunities Klein couldn't hit.

Damn, is Willis calling you each week and letting you come break down the film with him? I think this is the third week in a row you have known specifics about what film was sent over to the coaches for scouting. I wish I could see the details of the agreement you made Willis sign in order to keep your son in the Crosby program. Probably getting some NIL money out of the deal......lol
