  1. I'll chime in briefly on this from the perspective of a 50 year-old that saw what it used to be like in Jasper. Our athletes (even the iffy ones like me) played everything that they possibly could and we won a lot because of it. When you have these kids specializing, it limits what their bodies can do. Different sports require different lifting, training, etc., it increases athleticism and range of motion in general. We've got to get kids out of the house and doing all this stuff. Not only would Jasper get back on track, but it would help everyone else, too. I just don't know how we get out of the rabbit hole that they've gone into.

  2. College players should be considered employees just like the coaches are with contracts, roster limits and a salary cap. Borrow some of the structure that the NFL uses that can prevent some of this nomadic bull crap. If players and coaches want to move so badly, make them all redshirt or not coach for a year. Stuff like this needs to be put in place...

Got a bit of family in Gig Harbor so I’ve always followed since I was a kid in the Don James days.  DeBoer was kinda an outside the box hires.  He had always had success but not long at the D1 level.  The huskies seem to have a solid AD.

That's cool. I've followed UW since I moved up there in the mid 90s. They have all kinds of money up there to lure in just about anyone and they're moving fast. There could be an announcement as early as tomorrow. My money's on Leipold from Kansas. Most of the experienced players on the roster a week ago are either headed to the draft or in the portal. Bowl eligibility will be a lofty goal next season.

  4. DeBoer has certainly proven that he is one of the best coaches in the country and it's a good move for both parties.

What's next for UW? I lived in Seattle for a big chunk of my adult life and I've followed the program for a long time. The cupboard of top-flight coaches is pretty light. They might have to think outside the box, which is weird considering that they played for the natty just four days ago...

Finebaum sounds like he could cry discussing this on the SEC Network. Several people he has spoke with almost sound like they are discussing his passing.  It's really interesting to see and hear.

The same thing is happening in Seattle after Pete Carroll was essentially let go. It's like a funeral.

I think DeBoer at Washington might get a long look from the folks in Tuscaloosa. UW needs to pony up before he gets tempted...

Brooks has been a disappointing hire to say the least. He had a poor record in Houston in the mid 90s. He seems like a good assistant but not head coaching material.

I've had nothing but good things to say about Tic in his Lamar days. They threw him in when Knight had the team all messed up and you can tell the man knows his stuff.

The sooner the AD moves on to a new hire the better for Lamar. Since Pat Foster left in '86 it's pretty much been 40 years of nothing but futility.

One from the good old days

Pat Foster was so underrated as a coach that it's ridiculous. I remember that Duke game well. The Cards outplayed them for most of it.

Anyone else notice the difference between the approach to this game that Jasper fans are taking compared to Silsbee fans? Jasper fans not talking crazy and making outlandish comments, just taking it step by step and not drawing any unnecessary fire.

Watch Jasper end up making this a game.

Too bad our fans can't play. Pretty sure Bellville can't block us all. 😁
