Punxsutawney Phil must have predicted rain because it was raining 3's tonight.

Beautiful! But that's not a gym. That's an arena. Heck we could have Region 3 finals there! Way better than College Station. But too far from the center.

It was fun watching the BC student section. They were a hoot. The score was a matter of complete indifference to them. Being behind 20 something to 80 something apparently was not a factor in their thinking. They went nuts at every tiny little thing that went the Cardinals way. The ref calling a jump ball was like VJ Day for them. And there were a couple of times they cheered riotously for nothing at all, nothing at least that I could detect.
The adult 3/4 of the stands was a good deal more cognizant of what was actually happening on the court and a little less exultant about the whole thing. With them it was more like, "Ouch" and "Yikes" and finally "Oh well'. Silsbee knows the feeling all too well and perhaps better remembering the Bellville game.
If you've been though it there isn't much in this world that's more gratifying than winning a game on the road against a hostile crowd. Usually though there's some little note of disappointment and maybe even a hint of embarrassment in the enemy camp when the score is so lopsided. Not so here. Watching the kid section you'd have thought that BC was 50 points ahead rather than 50 points behind. No sir, they weren't going to let the fact that their guys were being run out of the gym spoil their fun. If you could have gotten their attention and said, 'Guys, look at the scoreboard." I'm sure their reply would have been something like, "Scoreboard? I don't see any scoreboard. What's a scoreboard?" Or perhaps it was just a case of managing expectations. If so it's one of the most impressive demonstrations of that science I've ever witnessed.
Today I'm sure that it's ancient history for them. In the words of Ralphie, "In the jungles of kiddom, the mind switches gears rapidly."

That would make a respectable junior college team today.

I predicted that the Tigers would be up by 30 at some point in the game and I was right They WERE up by 30....
...on their way to being up by 60.
Bridge City was simply overwhelmed. You saw the final score. It wasn't that close.

You mean like, let's figure out how Silsbee wants us to play and do exactly that? It was as entertaining as all get out. But it was essentially over by the end of the first quarter. The Mustangs kind of hurled themselves in to the Tiger's claws.
Congratulations to LaMarcus Bottley on scoring 1000th career points.

Looks like he could be a force with a supporting cast. A big man with a nice shooting touch. Of course we don't know how seriously the Tigers were taking him.

They do have a common opponent, La Grange. Shaw's 34 point win was convincing but not as impressive as Silsbee's win. That halftime score was devastating.

A three day pass is only $30. If you're a high school basketball fan I don't see how you can beat it.

And everybody knows playing basketball gets you in better shape for football than practicing football gets you in shape for football. Everybody knows that, right?
Okay, it's a stretch, but it's the best I could come up with on short notice.

A win was expected but golly jeepers! That looks like shades of the Bush/McCain/Adams days. Actually I don't recall that group ever having quit this big a lead at half. This is the clubbing baby seals routine.

I think this game is a lot more interesting than it appears on paper. We could we be dealing with a Cinderella here. Remember, under the shabby stepdaughter attire Cinderella was a beautiful and sweet girl and had some good athletes. The Prince realized almost immediately that just because she finished third in her district it didn't mean she wasn't Princess material. She just needed the fireplace soot washed off and few extra weeks to perfect that defense. The difference here is our Cinderella already had a good coach.

And ending this season a couple of weeks earlier is going to be VERY important in March. The Tigers going deep and the serious injury to Harper probably cost us the region last year.

As of 4PM Abraham Munguia was able to move his feet but still had numbness in his legs. His MRI was clear.
Okay now what? Is this the end of it.? He may be able to walk again so we can forget the whole thing? Final contact was initiated almost 2 yards off the field of play. Munguia was driven into the bench. I realize that what happened at the bench was largely happenstance but it should never have come to that.
This is a Silsbee person typing and from my perspective this isn't over.
