Coach Thompson was a great man ! Hard to beat him. He was my coach in High School at LCM. Along with Larry Grissom of Kirbyville. Two outstanding men.

Coach Johnston will never allow an OC to run the score up on anybody.  If Newton has a big lead, starters don't see the second half.  That's the way Curtis Barbary ran his program and it's still run the same way.  You never know when those tables might turn and the object of the game is never to make your opponent look bad.  Coach Thompśon is 80 years old and coached for 54 years and as far as I'm concerned irreplaceable.  But I'm very biased towards my old coach and Sunday school teacher.  He will be missed though.

Mack is the best Longhorn poster on this board.  Every time I get a little down on the state of one of our programs, I remember little aggy and Mack is the epitome of the stereotype.   Can't seem to break away no matter how hard he tries.  The obsession is just a big part of who they are.  They will always, no matter how far or how hard they run, be our special little brothers.  Gotta love those goofy little bastards

Thanks for the input.  But I do have one question:
Why should I expand coverage in this forum to sub varsity coverage when very few folks express interest in varsity?
Yes, I have not done as good a job in keeping up this forum as in years past.  A couple of reasons were for that.  First, we had teams advance far into the basketball playoffs and, sorry, but when a well followed forum like basketball goes into the playoffs it gets priority over forums that are not, especially when those forum's seasons are not in district play.  Second, illness has slowed me down and I am still endeavoring to catch up.  To anyone who feels that the girls have been slighted, I do truly apologize as any efforts on my part here are to highlight the play of all, male and female.
However, I must confess that I field complaints about the lack of substance in this forum and some others with a bit of frustration as they appear in the forums where there is little interest shown.  For example, let's look at last week.  There were 67 topics started last week.  64 of them were mine.  I had a game thread that covered every varsity softball game in an SETXsports district that was known to me just I do during football and basketball season.  26 of those topics did not receive a reply.  Only 8 of those topics have at this time received more than 100 views.  Other than the game threads and the standings, and this complaint thread, no topics of discussion exists on the first three pages of this forum. And while I realize that some threads regarding teams in the outlying areas might not be answered, some of the schools that did not report included Vidor, Nederland, Orangefield, Silsbee and West Orange-Stark, all schools with considerable followings on this board.  SETXsports has, since it inception, relied on it members to assist with the reporting of scores.  We have it that way in football, basketball and all of the other sports and have since this sports site has existed.  And I appreciate those in this forum that do follow it, pick up when I have fallen, and post game threads and scores and media folks like Ashly who have been a great resource of info. You are at the games, I am behind a computer and your input is needed.
I have operated in this and other of the smaller forums in the past with the thought of build it and they will come.  I introduced game threads into these forums with the hope of building some interest in the games.  Six years later, it has not happened.  I know that I will never get the same amount of replies and views as a football or basketball thread for a game thread here, but when several game threads receive 0 replies and barely double digit views, it is hard to fathom that the solution is to expand into sub varsity areas which will, in all liklihood, also be ignored.

The little dance on second base was because the previous half inning the A&M player did the little dance to the Texas dugout. So, whats good for the goose is good for the gander ! As far as kicking the helmet..... maybe a little too far, but the catcher doesn't have to put it right in the middle of home plate when he takes it off either. Toss it out of the field of play, then you won't have to worry about it happening.

Well, then why do you continue to post on this subpar site?  I have just spent 5 days in the hospital and one day of rest away from the site.  And this is my welcome back.  Well, I tell you what.  If you favor smoaky or maxpreps so much over this site, then please feel free to spend ALL of your time there and don't bother darkening the doors of SETXsports.com!  We have plenty who enjoy the site, one less knucklehead for me to deal with is no skin off of my back!

And Jasper and West Orange and Bridge City and pretty much everyone else you play since Silsbee has an issue with all of them.  Bad Santa can't even celebrate a state title classy.  Congrats to all the other Silsbee fans and players.

I think a serious third party would help. 
 
Ive met really good folks from both political parties. Sometimes politics and thinking only one way clouds the reasoning of good folks. I definitely need to concentrate on right and wrong and not any party affiliations. I have seen parents pay more attention to politics lately than family. And the family is in serious trouble. Parenting will become a bigger downfall than politics

I want to rant for a sec,  while the National Anthem was being played,  some HJ Students wanted to laugh, cut up, anp play on their phones, being a United States Marine and a Vietnam Vet I was very upset by their actions,  if you don't want to place your hand over your heart that's fine. But SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!! Sorry guys had to get that off my chest..

I can't control what everyone else does in the market, but I try to make sure the girls get plenty of coverage. I coached select softball with my dad for years and have seen their games get overlooked. Also schedules move around throughout seasons. I'm required to take off Monday and Tuesday during football season. The rest of the year I'm off on Thursday and Friday. This is because I work every weekend. I will say it is MUCH harder to get results from the girls games. There are a select few coaches that text or email their finals in even if we're not covering their game that night. I've seen the video.  The first blow in this entire ordeal was Jordyn Adams' open hand to the LCM kids face.  It's clear to see in the entire video that the Silsbee people want so badly to be shown.  Crystal clear.  I hope it's posted to so people will be honest about what happened.  With that said, THEY ARE ALL IN THE WRONG!  Nobody had to throw a punch and they all chose to do so. 
Silsbee is not an entire town of horrible people and neither is Little Cypress.  Both are far from it.  Several children, one in particular, made bad decisions.  Now they themselves, their teams, and their fans will suffer the consequences of those poor choices.  That is the real world and it's time for all involved to accept it and move on. 

What a lot of folks do not understand or will never understand, playing high school sports is not a right. It's a privilege. Two completely different things and rules, policies and discipline reflect those differences.

Mccain did NOT have to leave the bench to do what he did. His life was not in no type of danger. He took it upon hisself to sneak up on a young man who was minding his business not even involved in the altercation to lay a cheap shot on him. If he was playing for WOS i know for a FACT Coach Thompson wouldn't allow him to play another sport there. Just because he's one of the top players doesn't give him special treatments 

If you don't see a problem with sucker punching an unexpecting, defenseless victim, then you will say the punishment to the Silsbee player is too harsh.  The same people that think this punishment is too harsh usually are not repulsed by head-stomping an unconscious person at the end of a fight.  I love a good fight as much as anyone, believe me.  But what is considered acceptable has changed dramatically, especially with the younger generations.  This punishment seems appropriate to me and I am one who has punched and been punched many times in my life.  If you've known "bad" people, then it is easy to tell that Devon is NOT a bad kid.  I hope he learns from this and does nothing but great things from here on out.  A lot of that will depend on those closest to him right now and in the future.  
 

There is no excuse or place for fighting on the basketball court! #3 has accepted responsibility for his actions and willing or not he will accept what the punishment will be. I for one will be more involved in helping him become a better person than what his recent actions have portrayed him as. As much as I and the city of silsbee wants him and the team to make history we want him to be the best person he can be first. Win or lose I bleed maroon and white but there are things that are bigger than basketball, this is definitely one of them.

Only bad thing is, even the best shutdown corner can't cover a receiver for 5 minutes due to no pass rush ! Got to find someone that can put pressure on a damn QB.

I just hope the A&M defensive coaches were taking notes on that tackle.  Nice form!

Why we need someone like Trump!  Unlike obama's legacy:
1. Most rounds of golf played, ever.
2. Most expensive vacations taken, ever.
3. Most lies told (obamacare, Benghazi, Russian Hacking, Hillary in a landslide), ever
4. Most Americans out of work, ever.
5. Most Americans on Government subsistence (including an Obama phone), ever.
6. Lowest home ownership rate, ever.
7. Highest National Debt, ever.
8. Most illegal aliens living in the U.S., ever
9. Most sanctuary cities, ever.
10. Highest number of Federal Employees, ever.
11. Highest number of black-on black murders, ever.
12. Most convicted felons either pardoned or sentences commuted, ever.
13. More men using women's bathrooms than ever before.

Both UT and A&M SUCK! Texas shows absolutely no GUTS whatsoever ! I realize they are young but some of these games should not have been losses. Grow a pair !

Clemens, Bonds, McGwire, Sosa etc were the greatest of their era.  Everyone was doing it(including Bagwell imo) and they were the greatest.  The MLB made more money on that era than any before or since.  Let them all in and try to keep it from happening in the future.

The SKY isn't falling, no doubt and I think the loss will actually help. But the offense has got to score some points or at least move the ball up and down the field. Dak has not looked very sharp the last couple of games, but he is a Rookie and deserves another chance. If he plays this week like the last 2 weeks, its time to put Romo in and give him a shot.  As for Dez..... Dangit ! If you're gonna talk crap every week about how you should get the ball and this and that, you better damn well produce when you're needed. And HE DID NOT !!!!

Not sure Lamar would pay as much as the Hill does as far as he goes !

It wouldn't surprise me a bit that if Texas beats TCU this week that Strong stays at Texas. Don't know how you do that, but I just have a funny feeling it will happen. I'm also not so sold on Herman as being the next coach at Texas. I mean is 2 years enough to be able to tell how good a coach someone is? Especially at Houston. Heck he won the first year with another coaches recruits basically.
